Cohen giggled a bit. They did not know this, but they loved hearing little snippets of information that could never be useful in everyday life.
“I think my parents were going to name me Rowan, but felt as though it wasn’t fitting quite right.” Cohen looked away. “My dad also really liked Vale, but my mum was fed up with overly formal names. Eventually they found the name Cohen and just stuck with it I guess.” They shrugged and looked back at Lupin.
“They chose well to stick with it. I don’t know what it is but the name just fits.” He replied.
The two fell silent, walking beside each other for a bit admiring the beauty of the garden. Crickets chirped in the background, and somewhere nearby frogs had begun to croak. Then a toad joined in which made Cohen start laughing hysterically because of the sudden off-beat baritone from the toad. Lupin smiled and tried to calm Cohen down.
“What’s so funny? You’re laughing like a kookaburra out here, you might scare the caretakers!”
Cohen had a hard time slowing down their laughter to be able to talk, but eventually they managed a bit.
“Th-the the...” more laughter. “TOADS! J-jus-just!” They attempted a toad noise, “EEuGuughhh!”
And right when Lupin thought Cohen was done, they shrieked and doubled down with more laughing, this time with attempted toad noises.
It took a while for Cohen to calm down, but they managed. Their laughing loosened the atmosphere and Lupin and Cohen set off again, exploring the garden and talking about little things about themselves.
