The following day came as Chang Min woke up, rubbing his eyes. He stretched his arms, noticing that Ye Xun was not in bed with him.
He must have woken up earlier, Chang Min thought, grabbing his phone to check the time.
He saw that it was 8:48 a.m.
Yep, Ye Xun definitely woke up earlier.
Chang Min left his room, walking to the kitchen for food, stopping at the door when he saw Ye Xun cooking while talking on his phone.
"You don't have to stay," Ye Xun told the person over the phone. His phone rested on the counter with his speaker on. "I will be home soon, so you can leave."
Chang Min could hear the person clicking their tongue as they started talking. Their voice sounded female.
"Have you ever heard of the word 'thank you?' I swear that word is not in your dictionary." The woman replied.
Ye Xun surprisingly sounded cold as he answered.
It was surprising to Chang Min because he never heard Ye Xun sound cold before.
"Li Wei, I was not asking. Leave. I will be home soon, so I do not need you seeing to the cats anymore."
Chang Min could hear the woman on the other phone kicking something before swearing. "Fine." The call ended, indicating that the woman hung up.
The woman's behavior did not faze Ye Xun as he went back to focusing on cooking.
Chang Min bit his lip, wondering if he should walk in because the conversation felt awkward.
Plus, he wondered who the woman was because Ye Xun never talked about her.
But then again, Chang Min realized that Ye Xun knew everything about him, but he barely knew anything about Ye Xun’s life.
He never met Ye Xun's family, Ye Xun barely talked about his other friends if he had any, and he rarely talked about work.
It was like Ye Xun focused on everything that is Chang Min, while keeping everything about himself on lock and key.
Chang Min wonders if he should worry about that because they have known each other since they were five; he even used to sneak into Ye Xun’s home at night when he was a teenager, but always left before meeting anyone.
So, isn't it weird that he could only recall Ye Xun's likes, dislikes, routines, etc., but never his family, work, and any other friends?
"How long are you going to stand at the door?" Ye Xun asked, breaking Chang Min's thoughts.
Chang Min looked back at Ye Xun, seeing how the man's attention was still on the food. Chang Min awkwardly shuffled into the kitchen, making his way towards the table.
He sat down, watching Ye Xun as he played with his fingers. Chang Min started to count to ten before asking, "Who is Li Wei? Do you have a girlfriend I don't know about? Should we continue to do the scenes? What if she gets jealous?"
Questions kept falling from Chang Min's mouth before he stopped himself. For some reason, he started to feel like he sounded like a jealous mistress.
Ye Xun stopped moving before sighing. He turned off the stove, setting the spatula down as he made his way to Chang Min.
He leaned forward, putting his face close to Chang Min. "Li Wei is not important. I do not have a girlfriend; all I need is you, so stop asking all these questions."
Chang Min had more questions he wanted to ask, but swallowed them down because he felt too shy and nervous to ask them.
When he was young, his aunt and uncle would beat him then lock him away in his room with no food when he asked too many questions.
So, having those memories crawling back into his mind caused Chang Min to stop with his questions.
"Okay."
Ye Xun patted his head, running his hand through Chang Min's hair, taking away the tension that Chang Min did not realize he had.
It was almost like he guessed where Chang Min's mind went. Well, Ye Xun always knew if Chang Min thought back to terrible memories.
"You know I would never hurt you, Chang Min. Even if I avoid giving straight answers, it doesn't mean I am annoyed with your questions."
Chang Min leaned more into Ye Xun, pushing away his past that always popped up at certain moments. He smiled at Ye Xun, "I know, Ye Xun. I trust you not to hurt me."
Something passed through Ye Xun's eyes that Chang Min could not catch. Ye Xun gave him one of his famous smiles before letting him go.
He walked back over to the stove as Chang Min changed the subject. "So, remember when I said I would come over to visit? Can I come over when you are ready to go home?"
Ye Xun looked towards him, "You want to see the cats, don't you?"
Chang Min blushed, looking down as he played with his fingers, "That is half of it."
Ye Xun hummed, "You don't have to ask. You can come over whenever you want."
Then can I come over when Li Wei is there? Chang Min wanted to ask out loud but stopped. He was not the type to meet new people, but he knew Ye Xun rarely let people into his home.
So, he wanted to know who Li Wei was and how she was so special to have access to Ye Xun's home.
Once again, Chang Min had to swallow down the lump that kept rising, trying to say he sounded like a jealous mistress.
They arrived at Ye Xun's house.
Before they left, Chang Min changed into a kitty onesie because he wanted to blend in with the kittens.
He thought it was cute, plus no one but Ye Xun would see him in it, so it wasn't embarrassing to walk out with it.
Ye Xun covered his mouth when he saw Chang Min in the onesie, looking away. Chang Min wondered if Ye Xun laughed at him, but the man did not say anything as he took them to the car and drove to his home.
Once Ye Xun parked the car, turning it off, Chang Min put the hood with cat ears attached over his head. He turned towards Ye Xun with a pout as he had one thought on his mind.
"If I look stupid, just tell me." Chang Min told Ye Xun.
Ye Xun glanced at Chang Min, his lip twitching. Then, he shook his head, "You don't look stupid."
"Then why do you look like you are laughing!" Chang Min whined before instantly cringing at how childish he sounded.
Ye Xun reached over, touching the ears on the hood, "You're so adorable. What am I going to do with you, Chang Min?" His last sentence sounded utterly suggestive.
Chang Min covered his face with his hands, trying to whisk away his blush.
"Ye Xun," Chang Min whined once again, almost wanting to drag the man's name, "your words don't sound innocent."
Ye Xun chuckled, "You are the one with the dirty mind. They were perfectly innocent."
Chang Min felt like Ye Xun was playing him.
He huffed, putting his hands down as he turned to open the door. He stepped out of the car, closing the door behind him as he yelled," I want to see the cats."
"Coming, coming." Ye Xun spoke, also stepping out of the car.
