Ye Xun sat at a restaurant/bar, swirling the liquid in his cup. He tried to block out the noise, wanting to reach for his phone and be anywhere other than here.
Well, he wants to be with Chang Min.
The laughter filled the area again, almost making Ye Xun grit his teeth before taking a sip of his drink.
His company was out for their typical every six-month outing.
Everyone thought it was a great way to build their working relationship, while Ye Xun couldn't care less.
He did not want to be here, but since he is the company's vice president, Ye Xun had to be there. His hands inched towards the phone in his pocket before stopping once again.
Someone moved close to him, touching their shoulders to his. Ye Xun tensed, holding back from snapping at the person touching him as the horrid perfume smell burned his nose.
"Mr. Ye, I hope you do not feel left out. I saw that it was empty near you and decided to join." Xiong Yumi, one of the female workers, started.
Honestly, Ye Xun could not remember what the woman did nor anything about her. But, at least, he could recall the woman's name, not that it matters.
Ye Xun scooted away, freeing up space for himself before answering with a cold tone, "I am fine alone and do not need anyone joining me."
If the person is not Chang Min (or even Chang Min's parents), he does not care for them.
His cold personality puts most people off, but it seemed not to stop the woman as she moved closer to him once again.
"You know, everyone calls you an ice prince, Mr. Ye. But I know it is probably a defense mechanism to keep people away. You should let people in; I don't mind being one of the ones you can try with."
Xiong Yumi smiled, putting a few strands of her black hair behind her ear. Seeing the movement made Ye Xun remember that most males at the company would mention how beautiful Xiong Yumi is.
Maybe that is why he quickly remembered her name because many people at work talks about her.
Ye Xun held back a scoff in disgust. Beauty? No one could match Chang Min's beauty in his eyes. Xiong Yumi was another plain face to him.
"My 'coldness' is not a defense mechanism. I do not need anyone trying; I am fine alone. So, if you would excuse me." Ye Xun stood up, walking out.
He made his way to the entrance, stepping outside before leaning against the wall. Ye Xun reached for the pocket by his chest, only to stop when he felt nothing in it. He sighed, forgetting that he quit smoking a long time ago.
Ye Xun started smoking when he entered university. He did not have Chang Min with him, making it hard for him to even stay in school. All he wants is to have Chang Min at his side 24/7, even though it is impossible.
Plus, his family drove him up the wall. So, it led him to smoke.
But, when Chang Min finally admitted to hating the smell, he instantly quit after three years. After all, Chang Min only had to ask, and Ye Xun is ready to do anything for him.
He sighed, running his hand through his hair before finally grabbing his phone and pulling up his messages.
Ye Xun's finger hovered over Chang Min's name. He knew that once he clicked it, there was no going back to the work "party" because all his thoughts would be on Chang Min.
He already had the next story in mind—something to bring Chang Min closer to him. Ye Xun did not want to admit that he wished to manipulate Chang Min into always staying with him, but he did.
The ugly emotions of possessiveness and obsession always crawled their way to the surface, threatening to take him over.
Ye Xun, for years, pushed it back so many times, but the feeling always took over him. God, he wanted to see Chang Min so bad; he craved it deep down in his bones.
As his mind kept rearing on what to do, his phone vibrated. Ye Xun looked down and saw that Chang Min texted him first.
And seeing the new message from Chang Min, a frightening smile to anyone watching appeared on Ye Xun's face. He clicked the text, reading it all.
Chang Min: My parents and I went to the carnival and the park, it was amazing! I even rode a few rides. But, I miss having you here, are you still busy?
All you have to do is ask. Ye Xun started to think once again.
Ye Xun: Why? Do you want me to come over right now? Are you missing me that much already, Chang Min?
Chang Min: (*^^*). Shut up, Ye Xun. So, what if I do miss you that much? Come over, or don't. I don't care.
And I will do whatever you want. Ye Xun chuckled, thinking how cute Chang Min is. He could already imagine Chang Min puffing out his red cheeks, trying to act like he is not embarrassed or shy.
Ye Xun: Hmm, I don't think I can make it tonight.
Ye Xun lied, seeing that Chang Min started typing, only to disappear with no new message. He did it on purpose, knowing it would make Chang Min sad.
Ye Xun wanted to appear at the door, seeing Chang Min's facial expression changing into a delighted one once he realized that Ye Xun came.
He couldn't wipe the smile off his face from his imagination. Ye Xun moved off the wall, switching to the work group chat as he told them he had to leave because something unexpected happened. He stayed long enough, so it shouldn’t be a problem for him to leave.
Ye Xun made his way to his car, starting it as he drove to Chang Min's house in silence.
Once he reached the house, Ye Xun unlocked the door, closing it behind him. He took off his shoes and jacket as he walked to Chang Min's room.
Chang Min left the door cracked as Ye Xun could see a small light coming through the open space. Ye Xun opened the door some more and saw Chang Min watching a movie on his laptop as his blanket completely covered him, minus his head.
Chang Min looked over and saw Ye Xun. A bright smile grew on his face as he knocked his cover off. Ye Xun walked closer as Chang Min jumped up, wrapping his arms around Ye Xun's neck.
Ye Xun rubbed Chang Min's back, holding him in place. He hid the possessive emotion coursing through him as he kept a clear face.
"You came! I thought you couldn't come?" Chang Min spoke; a smile was still apparent on his face.
"I lied." Ye Xun smirked.
Chang Min's smile fell from his face as he puffed out his cheeks while glaring at Ye Xun.
He let him go, hitting Ye Xun's chest, "I don't want you here anymore."
Ye Xun chuckled, running his hand through Chang Min's hair. Playing with Chang Min's hair always curbed his desire to...
He pulled his hand away, "I am going to shower, then join you."
"That sounds wrong."
"Only you would have your mind in the gutter."
Chang Min did not answer as Ye Xun picked out some clothes and went to the bathroom. He closed the door, setting the clothes down on the sink as he pulled out his phone.
Ye Xun: I am not returning tonight.
Li Wei: Ugh! I should own the cats and the house with how much you make me babysit and house sit.
Ye Xun: And what response are you hoping to hear?
Li Wei: Where are you always disappearing to? Are you visiting some woman? What bitch has your attention all the time?
Ye Xun clicked his tongue, his face scrunching up in anger.
Ye Xun: Don't overstep, Li Wei.
Li Wei: Fine.
Ye Xun turned off his phone and started stripping as he turned the water on. Once he stepped into the shower, Ye Xun put his head under the water, sighing once more as he ran his hand through his hair.
Li Wei always knew how to ruin his mood.
I wish I could smoke again. Ye Xun longingly sighed.
