After taking
nearly two hours, I arrived at Nakte forest. Rakh told me to call his name, and
he’ll come; I decided to go to the same place we met for the first time.
“Rakh Tomeru, I’m here!” I yelled in the forest at night. I was a little
scared because I don’t like being in the dark alone, but that’s mostly because I don’t know what’s hidden in the darkness.
I sat down on a fallen tree that was nearby and waited.
The sounds echoing through the forest gave me chills. I could hear some strange
noises all around me, and I kept looking around as I felt some gazes on me. Even
though the Nakte forest is near Salexty, it hasn’t been fully explored, and
there might be many creatures living here that no one has a clue about. I kept
hoping that there isn’t anything that could match pelkanix strengths since that
would be my death.
An hour passed, and I could hear something big approaching me. Over the trees, I saw
black fur giving off a dim shine from the moons. It seemed to be the pelkanix I’ve met
before, Rakh.
“Hello, child. It seems that you’ve finally had an opportunity to leave the
city. Excuse me for taking so much time to get here. I was busy in another
region, so I came here as soon as I could.” His calm and rumbling voice made me feel relaxed.
“Good evening, Rakh; I’m sorry for bothering you so late in the night.”
“Don’t worry about it, I told you to call me, and it’s not like you’re coming
here every day. Let’s start with questions. It seems that you’ve been left hanging
for some time now, and I could see that you’re eager to learn more about
yourself.”
“Yes, I have plenty, so the first thing I’d like to know is, what exactly am I?
How can I be a part dragon?” I stood up and looked at the majestic beast that was
about to give me some answers.
“Dragons are smart creatures, but sometimes they can make the same mistakes humans
do. A long time ago, a powerful human family ruled over nearly the entire Rasmian continent. Even dragons didn’t bother that family and lived in
other continents mainly due to that reason. But the family got power-hungry and began
to invade the Elbimian continent that was at the west. At first, the dragons
ignored their advances into other continents until they arrived at the Sacred Thertus
Mountain that was home to the dragon elders. Ah, yes, the family’s name was Reikostern,
forgot to mention it. Well, the Reikostern family had discovered some magic
even dragons had no knowledge of. There were plenty of battles over the next twenty
years between them. The war between the two sides went on a stalemate since both
sides were equally matched. Everyone suffered heavy casualties, and no one
really knew why Reikostern was so fixated on the dragon's mountain. Then, suddenly, major powers from the eastern continent arrived at Rasmian and
began to invade Reikostern Empire. Still, the family didn’t leave Elbimian and
continued to fight the dragons. A year passed, and the forces from the eastern continent burned nearly a fifth of Rasmian to the ground. The dragons were approached by a young female and offered
to assist them in pushing back Reikostern forces. After proving her worth, the
dragons accepted her as one of them. The young female was even more powerful
than the dragons could’ve imagined, and after two years of battles, they made
Reikostern forces turn back to their homeland. As a reward for her feats in
this battle, they offered her the crystal blood of the dragon, which would give
her the ability to turn into one, and she accepted it. That’s how the first
human-dragon hybrid came to life. After staying for five more years with the
dragons, she decided to remove the name of Reikostern from history. She returned
home and made it clear to her family to step down from ruling the empire. Some were against her, some actually followed her, but after a while, there were no
traces of the Reikostern family. After few centuries, no one knows that there
was a nation that ruled over the entire Rasmian continent.” He looked at me and
chuckled.
“To think that I’d get the meet someone with the blood of Reikostern in my life
just by pure coincidence. The woman that joined the dragons was named Levia
Reikostern, and once she wiped out all traces of that family name, she changed
hers to Auroria. I guess you know of house Auroria?”
“Umm... Yes, they’re a powerful noble family that has standing equal to the Emperor.”
I remember reading about them in a news post. Auroria family gifted the Emperor an
enormous mansion at the eastern border of the Salexty empire.
“Well, you’re of royal blood, or however humans think of themselves, but besides
that, it seems you’ve acquired a lot of dragons power from your ancestors. It
could be that the spirit of Levia Auroria's soul still wanders around this world and has blessed you with her powers. It’s sad to see someone who stopped tyranny never get to rest. So, did you understand anything?” Rakh leaned towards me; his eyes
were glowing in the dark.
“Pretty much all of it, I guess, but is there a reason why I have a hard time
controlling my magic? Just recently, I missed targets that weren’t even moving.”
I wanted to find the reason for my uncontrollable magic.
“But you were aiming just fine when we first met?” He began to think. I hope he
knows something. Overall I’m not sure what to do with all this power, I want to join the military force to protect the city, but I also want to know what
happened after the fall of the Reikostern family. Sadly I could already see that the sun
is rising as dawn has arrived. I don’t have much more time before I have to
hurry back to the Academy.
“The only reason I can think of is that you don’t want to hit your strongest
magic since that would obliterate the target and make you a murderer; the magic
you used on me before wouldn’t probably even scratch me, so you didn’t have the
feeling that you might end up killing someone, but in your study session you
might have subconsciously imagined the target in front of you to be a living person standing against you, and you’re about to hit it with everything you have, so that might have made you miss it. That’s just a guess; you’re a young boy and knowing that your power is lethal is a good thing, but not
having it under control could make it go the other way around, that you could end
up being even more dangerous. You’ll have to get over this part of the reality, but if anything, seek me out; I’ll try to aid you as much as I can.
Now that I’ve figured out who you are, I’d be pleased to invite you over to the
place where I live and train you there, but I don’t think you’re ready in the
least to leave your mothers side yet, but you don’t have to hurry, I live a
long life and you will too. Now hurry back before someone finds out that you’ve
left the walls on your own, I heard some stuff while I was in the city, and I
know that your mother wouldn’t be happy to find that out. Until we meet again, young
Elias. Best of luck!” Rakh extended his wings, and with heavy swings, he flew
away, making dust clouds rise from the ground.
I began my long walk back to the Academy. This time with some answers and more
new questions.
