Moonlight
I was taking a warm bath as I thought about Yesterday with Josh. I got to admit that I actually made a friend but at the same time a friend no one else could see except for me. It was quite ironic.
I wondered what would happen if I could bring Josh alive. I wondered if we would still be friends or if we would be separated in our own paths.
I wondered what would happen if I couldn't help Josh too. It sure scared me but it would hurt me more. I don't really know why but it wouldn't be the same to not have Josh around to annoy me anymore. I guess that's what it's like to have a friend. And maybe that's why I never made one because I feared attachment.
I took a deep breath as I laid in the tub thinking how quick the days are passing by. Funny how Josh looks so calm about it all that I forget we actually have something horrible going on in our lives.
I knew it was time to get out when I was starting to feel sleepy in the tub. I wouldn't want to catch cold by falling asleep in the cold water.
I dried myself with a towel and wore my clothes as I got out of the bathroom.
"Hi." I was greeted by Josh who was seated on my couch comfortably. Thank God I decided to wear my clothes in the bathroom itself.
"Hey." I said as I threw my towel on the bed after giving my hair the last wipe.
"Seems like it would have been more fun if I entered the bathroom directly." Josh said and I could already imagine his mischievous smirk on his face.
I didn't even look at him and went to sit near the mirror to blow dry my hair as I asked, "How many times do I have to warn you?"
I heard him chuckle before he said, "Alright, still a no."
"So are we going for our quest?" Josh asked.
"I bet we are... After few minutes. I hope she doesn't see me." I replied.
"Yeah, you don't need to be scared of her..." He stopped when I stared at him with an annoyed expression.
"I mean, I know you aren't afraid of her because we don't really know if she's the person we are looking for but I was just saying." He continued.
"I just didn't want it to turn into an awkward situation, especially if she's not the person we are expecting her to be." I pointed out.
"Yeah... Hey, Moonlight?" Josh called as he rested himself on my bed.
"Yeah?" I asked.
"Yesterday was fun, we should do that again. I am not usually a guy who hangs out with a single person... But it felt great to be with you yesterday." He said making me smile.
"I surely had a great time yesterday, yes we can hangout again. Are we friends?" I asked sheepishly.
"We could be more than friends if you want." Josh bit his lower lip as he said that, looking like he was controlling his laugh.
I blushed again and I was annoyed because I didn't really need to blush until Josh came in my life.
"In your dreams." I said when I could finally have the confidence to speak and I turned away from him to hide my expression. I felt stupid because a smile just appeared on my face unexpectedly.
I decided to read a book for few minutes. As I rested on my bed, Josh leaned his back on my legs and I decided to play with him, I suddenly shifted my legs on the side and made him fall on his back. I laughed loudly as I watched him get up with a sheepish grin.
He suddenly pulled my legs and tickled them as I struggled to get myself out of the torture.
"You wanna challenge me, huh?" Josh shouted in the midst.
Tears were starting to fall and my stomach was starting to hurt from all the laughter. I knew I had to do something to not get myself killed so I reached up and started to tickle Josh's neck. He let go off my feet as he tried to hold my hands to stop me from tickling him.
We were laughing so much that we forgot everything for a while. When we finally calmed down, I realized Josh was now on top of me holding my hands up against the bed and maybe Josh realized the same as we both froze just looking at each other.
I looked at his lips which looked so soft and desirable. I looked away and tried to pull my hands away from his grasp. Just then, he let go off my hand and looked away as he slowly got up.
I got up and tried to not sound too awkward as I said, "I think it's time for us to go and I need to change."
"Yeah... Sure." Josh replied and walked out of the room.
My heart was beating erratically and I needed to fan myself to cool down.
Just then, it started to rain outside and I griped feeling so annoyed. Not the right time.
I pulled out my dark blue denim jacket, grey long sleeve shirt along with my light blue jeans.
I put my clothes on and patted some light make up on. I tried to put my hair in a bun but couldn't make it look good since I wasn't a good hair stylist so I simply let my hair down and gave it a brush.
I took a deep breath before I opened my bedroom door and tried to not think of what just happened between Josh and I. As soon as I opened the door and saw Josh, I was reminded of everything that just happened but I tried my best to act normal.
Josh gave me a smile and I smiled back. It only felt more awkward that he just smiled rather than giving me a compliment or teasing me as usual.
"It's raining outside, should we wait for the rain to stop?" And spend another hour of awkwardness, no thanks.
"We could just take an umbrella until we find a cab. It's okay, let's go." I replied and started heading towards the main door. I grabbed the umbrella and opened it as soon as I stepped outside.
"Do you get wet? I mean, just get inside the umbrella." I said trying to avoid looking at Josh's eyes.
"I don't really know but I will get in, just in case." He said that and let out a light laugh.
We waited in awkward silence for a cab to pass by. Murphy's law, it was hard to see a cab approaching and the ones that did already had passengers.
I cursed mentally at my luck. After what felt like ages of awkwardness, finally an empty cab stopped for us or for me.
We got in but the awkwardness continued until the driver decided to start a conversation with me. I thanked god and I never felt this relieved talking with a stranger, which was strange.
