Neko Girl

Chapter 1

Chapter 1

Sep 01, 2021

Hazel was in a deep sleep blissfully unaware that it was time to wake up for school.

“Hazel, come down,” Hazel’s Mum called. “It’s time for breakfast,”

Hazel’s eyes opened and she sat up to look around in confusion until she realised it was only her Mum calling her down for breakfast. Hazel groaned before thinking to herself Why does Mum always call me down early in the morning? I’m not the only one who has to go to school, Snow has to as well.

Hazel glanced to the other side of the room where there was a bed containing a white haired Neko also known as Snow, her younger sister who was in a peaceful sleep. Their mother’s voice earlier seemed to have no effect on her, Snow could sleep through anything no matter how loud with being such a deep sleeper.

Hazel had no intention of getting out of the warm blankets surrounding her bed but she had no choice, she had to go to school or else. She reluctantly jumped out of her bed and went to the bathroom to wash. She then dressed into her school uniform which consisted of a white shirt, Navy skirt, Navy jumper with a navy tie and black flats.

After leaving the bathroom, Hazel ran a hairbrush through her brown hair and left it loose. She wished her hair was white like her sisters and Dad but she was stuck with boring brown hair like her Mum’s and brother Tigger’s. Hazel sighed before heading downstairs to find her Mum with her younger twin siblings Tigger and Kitty in the kitchen/dining room already having their breakfast. Their Dad would have been there too but he was still sleeping as he started work early in the afternoon and returned home in the morning around 2am the next day.

The kitchen floor was covered with a soft carpet like every other room in their house and every other Neko house. Neko’s loved soft flooring, any solid surfaces were a no go as their paws were very sensitive. Even the ground outside was soft and Neko’s had only one method of travel which was by foot. They also loved warmth which was why a fire was lit in every room to keep warm always.

“Haza,” Tigger cried happily when he saw his older sister.

“Hey Tigger,” Hazel greeted the brown haired male kitten who was seated in his high chair beside his twin sister. Tigger eagerly held his arms out to Hazel even though he was in the middle of his breakfast which his face was mostly covered in. Hazel picked Tigger up but made sure his milk covered face was nowhere near her school uniform then she placed him back in his high chair despite his protests to be in her arms longer and let him get on with the remainder of his breakfast.

The female twin Kitty acknowledged her older sister’s presence but she didn’t say anything. Kitty wasn’t as fond of Hazel as Tigger was, she was more of a mummy’s girl.

Hazel took a seat at the dining table just as her Mum placed a glass of milk and bowl of cereal in front of her. Hazel scrunched her nose at the sight of the cereal as she wasn’t too keen on it but after milk was added, she could somehow bare it because all Neko’s loved milk.

Snow decided to make an appearance. She was all dressed in uniform identical to Hazel’s but with her white hair tied in a ponytail neatly which Hazel couldn’t believe seeing every day when Snow was always dead to the world when Hazel woke up ages before her sister.

“What?” Snow asked when she noticed Hazel gawping at her.

“Nothing,” Hazel replied and they had breakfast in silence.

Tigger demanded cuddle time with Hazel which she gave him but when it was time for her to leave with Snow to go to school, he wouldn’t let her leave as she grabbed her school bag.

“Haza no weave Tigga,” Tigger wailed as Hazel tried to hand him over to their mum.

Hazel’s Mum took out a box of biscuits from a kitchen cupboard to distract Tigger and it seemed to work as his eyes shone in excitement as he eyed a cookie when the box was opened as he forgot all about Hazel. Hazel’s Mum nodded towards the door and Hazel took that as her cue to run out of the house before Tigger noticed with Snow right behind her.
