"We...we won't," I stammered as she already walked away.
" Whatever you said might be true, Hayley," I looked at her nervously.
" Yeah, but we don't need to take it seriously. We will be fine if we stick around wherever we go. Right?" She asked me. I nodded. We entered our new room and arranged our things on the shelves. I can't wait to lay on this amazing bed. The bunk bed is looking amazing. Even the stair to it is in steel. My parents must have paid a lot to get me here. I wish I could get a part-time job to reduce their burden. Would it be enough?
" I can see you both are settled here. But Ronan and I are thinking to explore the Academy. I heard they are few shops in the nearby surrounding." Alice came into our room unnoticed.
" There are shops here. I thought there aren't any."
" I said 'few'. But that would be enough since the Academy is equal to a Mansion, Mall, Cafe and everything."
" I'm coming," Hayley stood next to her with a single bag in her hands. She's always prepared. I'm not interested today. I'm going to do something life-changing. Terrible. A bad decision.
I'm going to use the wish box. I have no choice. Keeping it next to me every day and seeing my miserable life makes me wanna use it.
" I'm not coming. You know me. Usually, I don't feel well after travelling." I just gave a believable excuse.
" Yeah, we know. Take rest. We will be back in an hour. See you later." Alice said. I locked the door after they left. The next moment, I took the box and the guide with shaking hands. I wasn't planning to try this spell. Something changed my mind now. I can't stress over this thing forever. I would better do it now if I can't destroy it.
Within a few minutes, the candles are the only ones giving light to the room. I have even closed the window.
" You are not afraid of dark, Sabrina. Just get over it. Maybe nothing would happen after I do this spell." I muttered to myself and looked at the spells. It's Latin I guess. I looked at the small box again. It seems like it's shinning in the candlelight. I can't stop looking at the star symbol in the box.
What am I even doing? What if I die tonight? The witch will be the reason for my death or any problem I would be facing.
I have to act fast before my friends are back home. I started reciting the spell.
' Exaudi preces meas et adiuva me tribulatione meas.
Exaudi me daemonium
Exaudi me daemonium
Exaudi me daemonium
Exaudi me daemonium '
I concentrated on it expecting something unexpected to happen. I know this is all crazy but I'm not stepping back from this.
Suddenly I opened my eyes as the windows opened up all by themselves. I can hear the thunder and seeing the lightning from outside. The rain hasn't stopped yet. I'm too afraid to keep on reciting the spell. I have to turn on the light before I have a panic attack.
I rushed to the switchboard as I caught a glimpse of some shadow in the dark. I'm imagining things. "It's just an imagination," I told myself and searched from the right switch.
" I can hear your heartbeat. Don't run away after calling me," I heard a silent Male voice. I should have gone with Alice. Now, someone's in my room.
" I didn't call anyone. Who are you? Show yourself," I tried to speak confidently but even I can sense the fear in my voice.
" Ha...Did you call me without even realizing it? Poor human," I heard the same voice again. It feels like it's coming from everywhere. I ran my one hand over the shelf and knocked over a glass that crashed on the floor with a noise.
" You are the one who needs to show yourself. Where are you hiding?" The voice said. I hit the wall. I have got nowhere to go. In the dark, I can see two feet, walking towards me. I saw a shade of red before I closed my eyes.
" I don't know how you get into my room. But please don't kill me. Don't kill me." I sat on the floor with my hands over my eyes.
" Not yet. I still got time for it. Right now, did you just broke this?" The voice is close to me now. When I opened my eyes, lightning strikes at the same second and I can able to get a single glimpse of what's in front of me.
Its hand is holding a broken piece of glass I dropped it a minute ago. My gaze went a little higher to notice narrow eyebrows and an evil look. It's a he. I just saw his wicked smile before I passed out.
My mind was totally blank. I can feel my body inside a soft blanket. Soon, I remembered everything crazy that happened. I don't feel like it's a dream. I got up to see myself in the bed above Hayley's bed. When did I sleep? What time is it?
" Finally, you are awake. It's time for our class. Did you get drunk yesterday without us? Is that why you stayed here?" Hayley applies lip gloss as her eyes fixed on the mirror.
" Is it morning? I don't remember sleeping at all. And I was definitely not doing any witch spell in our room. The guide was just a plaything for kids." I blabbered.
" What are you talking about? A witch spell. Guide. Are you describing your dream?" She looked at me like I'm talking silly. I used the bed stairs and went down. What happens after someone entered my room out of nowhere. I don't remember anything after that. There aren't any broken pieces of glass in the room. No wish box, candle, the guide lying on the ground.
I know where to look for the wish box. I found it in my bad again. It's in the same zip where I put it yesterday. Is this box making me hallucinate? Or am I losing my memories? I know I saw him for sure. Now, I don't even remember his face but he was in my room.
" What's wrong, Sabrina? You look like you saw a ghost. If anything is wrong, you know you can share it with me, right?" She kept her hand on my shoulder. How could I even explain to her when I'm not even sure of anything happening in my life.
" I know. I just had a bad dream. It's nothing big. How much time do we have till the orientation class? I will get ready as fast as I can."
" Thirty minutes,"
" That's enough," I rushed into the bathroom.
" Are you sure you are okay?" Hayley asked before I close the door.
" Yeah, hundred per cent," That's a complete lie. I faked a smile at my best friend.
Hayley and I locked the room after twenty minutes.
" Why are you late? You have never been late. Is Hayley the cause? " Ronan asked me leaning on the wall next to our room.
" No. It's me. I overslept." I admitted, looking at him. Then. I noticed something weird behind him. Room number 113. It's not taped or locked anymore. It's like every other room.
" This is impossible. Why did they remove the lock? Did someone broke into it in a single day?" I asked Hayley approaching the door.
" The room wasn't taped yesterday, Sabrina. Why are you staring at someone else room?" Hayley talked like she doesn't anything happened yesterday.
" It was locked. A student went missing 10 years ago. Students who lived in this room died. The cleaning lady told us all these things. Don't you remember? You were next to me when the cleaning lady said this, Hayley?" I shouted, getting attention from students who are walking past us.
" You are acting weird, Sabrina. I told you about some missing students cases from this Academy. But that doesn't mean you should imagine things to this extent." Hayley said.
" I think that news had affected her," Alice spoke. They are not believing me.
" I'm not crazy. I'm telling the truth." I said, getting closer to the door.
" Stop it, Sabrina. You are not making any sense," Ronan added. Just when I'm close to tears, room number 113 opened. I lost my balance and almost went inside the room.
A hand caught me before I fall and embarrass myself.
" Are you okay?" I heard the voice. The same voice which spoke yesterday in my room. I can recognise it.
" You..." I looked at the same face. He's not smiling now. There aren't any expression on his face.
" You remember me, don't you,"
I pulled myself away from him. " Yes. You broke into my room yesterday. How did you do that? Who are you exactly?"
He leaned to whisper in my ear. " I can gladly explain everything. But one question at a time."
I'm in love with the devil. How did I let it happen?
I'm Sabrina Steward. My life is nothing special. I have feelings for a boy who doesn't even notice it. My parents worked hard to get a seat in Hellviore Acadamy for me. I was managing my life well until a small wish box found its way through my life. It transformed my life. The wish box is capable of summoning the devil and granting seven wishes. After seven wishes, I will be dead.
I should have been careful. Now, my life is in danger. Death is approaching me. And my heart is longing for the devil's love who's incapable of any emotions.
