While Campbell was running to the gymnasium, Clair was facing off with the monster that had already lost one of its limps.
Thud!
Their blades clashed and they both were sent back, the monster quickly recovered and darted forward while Clair brushed the tip of her sword over the ground.
And as the monster swung its bladed arm, she dodged and slipped by to its other side but then an eerie laughter came from all around. The windows broke from the second floor and pour out was the childlike monsters.
“Huh!?” Glancing at them as they crawled their way to her.
The monster with a single limp, spun around and swiped its bladed arm but as it came, a set of golden knives were thrown from the gymnasium, striking the swinging arm. While two oversized knives were launched and was cutting a blazing path, separating the childlike monster to the side.
“Lydia…!”
Clair turns to Campbell, who was at the entrance of the gymnasium, stepping forward and swiping her sword across. She reached out her hand and disappeared…
“This way, hurry…!”
Blink!
Reappearing by Campbell, she nodded, “Let’s go…” They both rushed for the gate while dozens of the childlike monster burn in the golden flame as they tried to cross through.
Meanwhile, the bladed monster turns and was about to dart away but was stopped by a blue thread that was tied to its body and to the ground.
Clair and Lydia, stepped through the gate and returned back to the real world. They both let out a sigh of relieved and looked at each other, briefly smiling as Campbell flopped to the ground and sat on her knees.
“Gabriela, are you okay…?”
“Just a little tired…”
She stumbles her way back with Clair’s help.
“Let’s go to infirmary.”
Campbell nodded and they headed for the infirmary but no one was there. Not wanting to wait, they agreed and left the school premise, and with Campbell’s house being quite a distant away from school, they decided it would be best to wait at Clair’s.
In the meantime, Mrs Faye was watching them leave, “I guess that should be enough games for today, I have to prepare for the school trip anyway. I can’t wait….”
They had already arrived and Campbell was on the phone with her father while Clair was preparing some drinks for her.
“Father said that he’ll fetch me later and told me to give his thanks.”
“Don’t mention it.”
The two settled themselves in the living room.
“But is it really alright…?”
“It’s fine, my parents are always away for work and they don’t mind me bringing friends over.”
Campbell eyes widen and glittered for a bit as she heard those words.
“Hmm…? Is there something wrong?”
She smiled, “No, it’s nothing.”
It was her first day of school and with small flower in her hand, she goes over to the other kids and presents it to them but…
“Stay away, my mother told me to stay away from you.”
“You mother killer…!”
She dropped the flower while all the kids ran away from her, even though she didn’t understand what they meant but was still hurt by those words. She carried this emotion all the way back home and to her room, then tears began to fall. She stopped it the middle of her room, silently crying and with a small knife she had obtained.
“Campbell, what are doing…!?” a white cloak appeared and slapped the knife out of her hand.
She paused and looked at the cloak but for whatever reason, she wasn’t frightened by this mysterious cloak as if she had always known about it.
“Who are you…?”
“Your friend, Strobial.”
Clair and Campbell had retreated to Clair’s room, they were simply sharing a little about each other. Clair had a hobby to crochet while Campbell was an avid reader, she loves fantasy stories about princesses and had unintentionally taken in some of their etiquettes.
And while they were still sharing about each other, the doorbell rang. The two made their way to the front door, checking the intercom.
“Good evening. This is Gabriela Campbell’s father, Silvain Campbell.”
“Dad!”
Clair opens up the door while Campbell went back to the room and gathered back her stuff. Her father stepped through the front gate and stopped just at the door.
“Gabriela’s friend?”
“Yes…?”
“So, you’re the friend she has been talking about. How was the lunchbox she made?”
Clair tilted her head in confusion, then pieced it together.
“I think she was talking about Ellie; she stays next door.” Pointing to the house beside.
“I see, she has two friends. Thank goodness–”
Campbell rushed down, “Dad!” she ran by Clair and pushes her father back to his car, she turns around for a moment, “Thank you again and see you at school.”
