Flower Boy

Chapter 2

Chapter 2

Sep 20, 2021

Aiden yawns, his head resting on his fist.

"Aiden, you need to eat." Wendy slides a plate of eggs and bacon with a slice of toast across the table to him.

The three sit in the loud food hall eating breakfast, it was 6 in the morning and Aiden wasn't feeling to good after yesterday's events.

"I'm n-not hungry." Aiden gives a small smile.

"Well then could you please drink your orange juice?" Wendy asks, points to his glass.

"F-fine." Aiden says, returning her smile.

The once loud food hall fills with hush tones and whispers as three people walk in.

"Look, it's the 3 Musketeers!"

"Omg, look at how hot Caleb is!"

"Caleb? Look at Taylor~"

"What are you two insane!? Look at Brett!"

"Omg its them!"

"Shit, look- the 3 Musketeers."

Aiden hears all the whispers as they surround them, however Wendy and John look unfazed.

"W-who are the 3 Musketeers?" Aiden looks at Wendy.

"Wha- you don't know!?" She practically screams, noticing everyone's eyes on her, she leans forward and whispers. "How have you been going to this school for four years now and NOT know who the 3 Musketeers are!?"

"I-I thought when everyone mentioned them, they were talking about the historical 3 Musketeers." Aiden frowns looking down at the table.

"They're a bunch of assholes, that's all you need to know."

"Okay...but who are they?"

"Well, you have Caleb Worthington, the rugby player of the group. Taylor Bent, the overly flirty one that hits on everyone, parties, and still has good grades. Then you have Brett Adams, the leader of the group." John says, rolling his eyes.

"Oh....does that mean-"

"Yep, those are the ones we ran into yesterday!" Wendy says, shoving a bite of eggs into her mouth.

Aiden's mouth hangs open as he stares at his two friends, Wendy takes this as an opportunity and shoves a slice of toast in his mouth. John and Wendy laugh at Aiden as he pouts with the piece of toast hanging in his mouth, they act like they are the only ones in the room. Little did they that from across the room, a certain someone has his eyes souly on Aiden.

_______

Aiden sighs and rubs his shoulders walking out of his last class of the day, his other hand pulls out his phone, ready to text Wendy he's out of class. Walking by the lockers, a hand grabs his hair and jerks him back.

"Ow!" Aiden's head hits the lockers, hard.

"You think I'll let you go just like that little shit?" Brett stands in front of Aiden, his eyes filled with anger.

"I-I-"

"You will pay for those shoes."

Aiden whimpers, his head getting pulled back once more.

"I've heard about you," Brett leans in, his mouth right by Aiden's ear. "Flower Boy."

"P-please, I c-can't pay for them. L-let me do something else...." Aiden strains against Brett's hold, his eyes fill with tears.

"Oh like what, you'll give me a flower instead?" Brett smirks.

Aiden nods, "Yes! Y-yes I can give you a flower!"

Brett's smirk falls and he slams Aiden's head back against the locker, if it weren't for Brett's grip on Aiden's hair, he would have fallen to the ground already.

"You think its funny?"

"N-no! I'm s-serious, I can give y-you a flower. Flowers help people smile, their beauty brightens up a-a room!" Aiden smiles, sincerity in his eyes.

Brett is taken back, he stares at the smaller boy as if trying to decipher him, but before he can say anything, a teacher walks up.

"Excuse me, Mr. Adams, my classroom." She places a hand on her hip.

Brett groans and releases his hold on Aiden's hair.

"Don't think you'll get off so easily next time." He turns around and follows the teacher to her classroom.

Sighing, Aiden slides down the lockers, his eyes shut. He takes a few long breaths before standing up and dusting off his ass.

"Damn, and I just had these washed...." He mumbles, his mouth forming a frown on his lips.

"What about your pants?" Aiden turns to see John standing there smiling at his friend.

"Oh, u-um I sat on the ground and I-I just washed these." Aiden runs a hand through his hair in attempt to fix the mess Brett caused to it.

"Oh, well Wendy says she's waiting for us at the Food Hall." John grabs his friends arm. "Let's go!"

Aiden laughs as John leads them down the hallway, a few students looking their way. Everyone knew Aiden as Flower Boy, and to see him get Brett, the leader of the 3 Musketeers in trouble, was kind of a big deal. As they walk further down the hall, John talks to him about this guy in class who wore a hoodie.

"I mean, when I wear a hoodie I get in trouble, oh but when Mr. Taylor Bent wears a hoodie- The goddamn rules go down the fucking drain!" He throws his hands up in frustration.

"C-calm down John, people are staring-"

"And then, when he saw me glaring at him-HE SMIRKED! Oh the nerve of that guy, sometimes I just want to shove my-"

"John!" Aiden covers his mouth, worried of what he was going to say.

"Fine, but the next time I see Taylor Bent I'm going to-"

"What about me?" Non other than Taylor Bent walks up beside John.

"Shove off asshole, this has nothing to do with you." John crosses his arms against his chest, glaring at the taller boy.

"Oh but it does if you're talking about me~" he throws an arm around John's shoulder's, making him blush slightly before moving his arm off. "Oh hey, you're Flower Boy right, the one that got dirt all on Brett's shoes."

Aiden frowns and looks at the ground tears slowly rising. "I'm so so sorry!"

"Hey man, they weren't my shoes." Taylor chuckles, walking around and placing his arm around Aiden's shoulders.

"Why don't you go make it up to him."

"H-how? He got mad when I said I-I would give him flowers as an a-apology." Aiden looks up at the taller one.

"That's Brett's code for, 'yes I would love flowers from you.'"

"R-really?" Aiden's eyes go wide in surprise

"Yeah, really?" John doesn't buy the act, sending Taylor a suspicious look.

"Well yeah! I think I would know, I have been his friend since kindergarten." Taylor grins back at John.

"W-well what kind of flowers does he like?" Aiden starts thinking immediately of what type of flowers Brett would like. Petunias come to his mind, along with Brett's angry face, or even Narcissus would suite him.

"He likes roses." Taylor said.

"Roses?" Both boys look up at him, confusion written on their faces.

"Yes, roses. Brett may seem like a hard guy, but deep down he's a big softy when it comes down to it." Taylor grins.

"O-oh..." Aiden looks down, a blush spreading over his cheeks at the thought of giving Brett Adams roses.

"Stop fucking around, come on Aiden, he's obviously lying just wanting to make a fool out of you. I bet Wendy's worried as to where we are." John loops his arm through Aidens as he slightly tugs on him.

"Now why would I lie to little Flower Boy?" Taylor holds out his hands.

"To see him suffer." And with that John pulls Aiden down the hall.

__________

"Roses? He doesn't even look like a flower type of person."

"Yep, that's why I told Aiden to just ignore him." John shoves a green bean into his mouth.

Tonight on the menu was roast, potatoes, green beans, and carrots, with side dishes of rolls, salads, and rice.

"Well good, you don't need anything to do with them Aiden. They are nothing but a bunch of pricks that enjoy seeing others suffer, especially people like you." Wendy pointed her fork at him with a carrot sticking on the other end.

"What is that supposed to mean?" Aiden looks at her, his face showing the slight pain her words caused.

"I didn't mean it like that Aiden, it's just you're a little on the week and vulnerable side and that's what the 3 Musketeers aim for." Wendy sets her fork down and rest a hand on his elbow. "I'm sorry if my words hurt you Aiden."

"It's alright Wendy, and it is true, I'm just a weak and vulnerable person that can't do shit right." Aiden sighs, sadly looking down at the table.

John and Wendy look at one another, wordlessly talking between them; before the two can say anything, Witney, the queen bee of the school and the biggest brat, comes up to their table, fuming.

"You-" Her long fake pink nail points at Aiden. "You're the one that got Brett detention, aren't you Flower Boy?"

Aiden frowns at this, he never intended for Brett to get detention, that only added to the list of things he needed to make up for.

"I-I'm really sorry, I didn't-"

"Shut up you little fag, I can't believe such a piece of shit like you is the reason why Brett is in trouble. Do us all a favor, and leave." She turns around and walks away, her hips swaying as she goes.

"That dumb bitch!" Wendy slams her fist down on the table.

"Don't listen to her Aiden, non of what she said is true." John runs his back.

"But it is true John, I AM the reason why Brett got detention." Aiden stands up.

"Aiden-"

"I-its ok Wendy, John, I'm fine. I-I think I'm going to go for a walk." Aiden leaves before either one can argue.

Aiden walks out of the food hall, trying desperately to hold back the tears that want to escape. Running out of the doors, Aiden bumps into many people as he tries to leave; he soon enters the yard, a few people eating or talking at the surrounding benches and tables. He stops and finally breathes, feeling the adrenaline pump through his blood, feeling lightheaded. He rests a hand against the small fence, his other hand resting on his chest as he attempts to calm his breathing. He starts walking slowly towards the garden, the night crisp air making his nose turn red and runny.

Oh crap, I forgot my scarf

Aiden pulls the sweater sleeves over his hands as he lifts them up to his face, blowing hot air into them. His small breathes could be faintly seen in the night air, his foot steps crushing the small oak leaves on the ground as he drew closer to the garden. The faint over heard lights cast a faint hue on the the ground, the light making the flowers pop out slightly. Hearing a ding, he rubs his hands together before sliding them into his pocket to pull out his phone, it was a text from Aunt Becky.

Aunt Becky🌼: Hey Love, are you coming home this weekend?

Every weekend the students are allowed to visit the town, but they have to be home by Sunday night or else it's a detention.

Me: Yep, I hope that's ok.

Aunt Becky🌼: Of course it is, and while you're at it, invite Wendy and John!

Me: Okay Aunt Becky, I will. Good night, love you❤

Aunt Becky🌼: Love you too love, Sweet dreams❤😊

Aiden smiles at the screen before exiting the app and turning the device off. His Aunt was the most caring, generous, and sweetest person Aiden knew, she was always there for him and also knew what what wrong even when he said he was fine. When ever Wendy and John came over with him, she always made her famous Sunflower Seed chocolate chip cookies that the three absolutely loved. She always had something fun planned as well, whether it be watching black and white horror films till 3am, or painting the shed, she always had things for them to do.

Hope she's going to make cookies! Oh goodness how I miss her sunflower seed cookies....

While Aiden practically drools at the thought of her cookies, he hears his phone ring again. Seeing Wendy's name on the screen brings him back to reality.

"Hey Wen-"

"Aiden Ree Bishop, where the hell are you?!" Aiden winces and holds the phone away from his ear.

"I-I'm at the g-garden."

"Told ya!" John says in the background.

Aiden hears the two bicker in the background before Wendy speaks again.

"Okay well come back, it's almost curfew and you have yet to eat something." Aiden frowns as he hears the worry in her voice, hating how he's the reason why she sounds that way.

"Ok I'm coming, sorry Wendy." Aiden quickly turns and starts walking back to the school.

"Its okay Aiden, just...just please hurry."

"I will."

"Okay, see you when you get here."

"Okay, bye."

He hangs up the call and quickens his pace, he hates making his friends worry, but he hates seeing them hurt even more and from that last sentence from Wendy sounded like he really hurt her.

....

After finally making it up to his dorm room, he's greeted with a hug from Wendy that nearly knocks him off his feet. She pulls him inside and instantly starts scolding him for leaving and for making her worry; meanwhile John sits on his bed snickering at the show, happy that for once it's Aiden feeling her wrath instead of him. After finally having stopped scolding Aiden, Wendy starts fussing over how he didn't eat. So taking it upon herself, Wendy starts feeding him, not letting him get away with it since he skipped breakfast and lunch. John laughs the whole time as he watches Aiden struggle to keep in each bite she shoves in his mouth, not really giving him a chance to finish the bite before.

"Jesus Wendy, let the poor thing swallow." John says, taking pitty on the smaller boy.

"Well he shouldn't have ran off." She pushes one more bite in. "And look, that was the last bite!"

She smiles at Aiden as he tries swallowing the large piece of roast beef, he starts coughing and Wendy quickly starts patting his back.

"Okay maybe I did go a little over board."

"A little!?" John jumps up and hands him a water bottle.

After calming down from his coughing fit, and after drinking half the water bottle, Aiden looks at the two.

"Would you guys like to come home with me tomorrow?" He smiles shyly.

"Hell yeah! Is Aunt B going to make her sunflower cookies?" John asks, excitement in his voice.

"I believe so-"

"We're in!" Wendy and John say in unison.

"Okay then." Aiden chuckles.

Not long after, Wendy leaves and returns to her dorm, leaving the two to get ready for bed. Just as Aiden pulls a white t-shirt over his head, John turns and looks at him.

"You aren't really going to give Brett roses are you?" He asks.

"M-maybe, I don't know yet." Aiden blushes slightly and looks down.

"Oh, well...I hope you don't Aiden." He turns around and lifts the covers of his bed.

"Why not?" Aiden tilts his head slightly.

"I don't want to see you get hurt." John glances back at him. "Good night Aiden."

"G-good night John."

With that, the boys turn in for the night.

Yeah pretty sure the Rose thing was a joke unless Taylor knows his friend Brett has a crush on the ‘flower boy’
