The Innkeeper kept his eyes on the duo as they turned their backs on him. Their clothes trickled with water as they hurried to their room. But, even if they were out of sight, his eyes still lingered at the door as if he were under a spell. His attention was then brought to the hair that was on the counter: shimmering strands that were like pale gold, softer than any material that he had ever touched, and a scent that caused all senses to go into a frenzy as he caressed it against his face and fingers. Then, he felt something: a longing for her, jealousy, lust, rage, love, and intense confusion. He quickly threw the hair away as soon as he realized what he was doing. The Innkeeper's breathing was erratic, his heartbeat was irregular, and the surge of multiple emotions at once was enough to cause nausea. He buried his face in his hands trying to calm himself down, but, even though he tried to clear his head, all he saw was her.
The Innkeeper stood and managed to take in a few breaths. "What the hell is wrong with me? I-I don't...what is this", he thought in his confusion. He had never felt anything resembling the norm in emotions and he didn't like the feelings he was having. He quickly took some liquor out and took a drink. He contemplated for a second and decided to finish cleaning and discard the hair, but, he couldn't do it. He took the hair and decided to proceed with the plan that was already set in motion. When the rain finally let up, some very important people were coming to visit this humble establishment.
