After eating Leon sent his grandmother the few pictures that he’d taken of the both of them, but well mostly were of Ethan. For once there were actual personal photos on his phone. His background had been just the default image and had been replaced by the photo of Ethan trying on his glasses for the first time. It made him smile as he’d seen the creeping blush when he looked at him clearly for the first time. He got ready to make the phone call when Ethan walked in, he’d helped Mark clean the kitchen, something he didn’t have to do but he wanted to do and he wasn’t going to stop him.
“Leon, do you think I can go with Mark to the Library?” He asked.
“If that’s what you want, then I’m alright with it, do you want me to go with you both?” He asked, knowing how timid he could get some times, especially after this morning.
“Yes, I’d like to go with you too, but umm are you busy?” He asked.
“I’ll only be a few minutes.” He told him as he was getting ready to call his mother.
Ethan fluffed his ear feathers and twittered in excitement as he went upstairs to get his wallet and the phone that he’d gotten so he could contact him, Louis, and his brother Mike. They hadn’t met in person but they had texted back and forth, he was currently in school doing his finals for summer classes.
Leon sighed and dialed his Alpha mother Naomi, it was time to rip the band-aid off. “Leon, my dear, how are you?” His Omega mother, Lorain, said answer the phone.
“I’m good, better now, why are you answering Mom’s Phone?” he asked.
“She asked me to, her hands are full at the moment, hold on, let me put this on speaker.” She fumbled a moment and there was a beep, and then silence.
“... She hung up on me.” He said looking at his phone seeing “call ended” on the screen. Then it was ringing back. “You hung up on me.” he answered, sounding hurt.
“I didn’t mean to! The button is right there!” She said defensively.
“I kid, I kid mama.” he said in a gentler tone. “Are you both there now?” He asked.
“I’m here, is there something you want to tell us?” Naomi asked.
“Yes, you know how the last few months I’ve been irritable? More so than normal?”
“Yes, you’ve started to become just as bad as your brother.”
“Well, it because I found someone and then I did stupid things and lost them, but now I’ve found them again.” He told them. “His name is Ethan, he’s an Omega Avian.” He told them.
“An Avian huh?” Naomi said, taking in the information.
“What does it matter what he is if he loves him?” Lorain told her. “I mean he could have done worse, he could let your father pick his mate like that horrible Cathleen.”
“True, that old fart is only picking his friends' kids as long as they are female, but a male Omega? That’s a first for the family, I would like to meet him.” Naomi rambled.
“How did you meet?” Lorain asked.
“Errr, that’s the thing, he used to work at a brothel, not a good one either, not totally for the right reasons either. Grandfather somehow found out and was here this morning, and it didn’t go very well.” He admitted with a sigh looking at Ethan as he came down the steps, he smiled seeing him. He was wearing one of his shirts that was clearly too big for him, he seemed to like wearing them anytime they went out.
“I’m guessing he wasn’t pleased, but please tell me he didn’t do anything foolish.” Naomi said feeling a headache come on thinking about it.
“He did, he yelled at him to get out and used his pheromones to attack him, I already spoke to grandmother about it.” He told them. “Even after that he still wants to meet the both of you, and Felicia and Nate.” he added begrudgingly. “We were thinking of coming over on Friday for dinner. Would that be alright?”
“That old man, I'll have to have some words with him myself. Also the sooner I get to meet him the better.” Naomi said annoyed with her father.
“I just want to meet the Omega who stole my baby’s heart, send me pictures.” Lorain said excitedly
“You will, we’re going out to the Library for a bit, but we look forward to seeing you Friday.” He said walking up to his mate and lovingly caressing his face.
“That’s an unusual place to go out for a date.” Naomi said.
“It’s not a date, it's just us going out together with Mark.”
“It’s bonding time love.” Lorain said with a purr. “Let him be, we’ll see you Friday.”
“Yes, Friday night at 5, let me know if I can bring you anything besides my mate.”
With that they hung up and the three of them walked to the local Library. Ethan was excited, he used to be a big reader and he was looking forwards to finding new books, they even let him get a Library card with Leon’s last name. It had been the pick me up he needed after that morning. He’d gotten a few fictional books, some on audio and a few books on baby names. After the Library Leon and Ethan went home while Mark went on to do grocery shopping. They curled up on the couch while Leon caught up with some work and Ethan went through one of the name books.
The doorbell rang once again interrupting their quiet time together. Leon sighed and got up figuring it was Mark and his hands were full. He opened the door and instead of the Fenic he was face to face with a female feline he hadn’t seen in over three months now. He frowned deeply.
“Cathleen, what brings you to my home?” He asked, clearly annoyed. He blocked her from entering.
“I came to talk to you, I’ve been missing you. You never explained to me why we never got back together.” She said with a pout.
“Cathleen, my best friend Vanessa has photos of you and her ex-husband going at it at his desk. You didn’t think she wouldn’t tell me? Let alone show me the proof, did you?” He told her. She looked surprised and then she looked at him angrily.
“It’s your fault if you had just taken your medication I wouldn’t have felt tempted. Now I hear you’re shacking up with that omega whore?” She snapped.
Leon pinched the bridge of his nose. “We have been over this Cathleen, and who told you I am shacking up with anyone?” He asked. He was furious that somehow she knew his Birdy was now living with him. His ear twitched as he heard him move from the couch quietly. His tail lashed back and forth in anger at whoever it was that was telling people about this.
“I heard my grandfather talking to your grandfather a little while ago, I was wondering why you didn’t call or respond to my messages. Now I know you have some slut in your home, you should get rid of him, you don’t know what diseases it could have. It’s a disgusting little Omega, it’s only job is to attract Alphas and give birth, I can do that too.” She snarled she was trying to look in but he blocked her view.
Leon wanted to make a comment, he knew Ethan was clean. The only thing he carried was their child and his love. He heard him dash up the steps, most likely retreating to their room. “Look it’s none of your business any more what I do, who I see, and who I choose to be my mate, I won't ever choose you.” He said calmly. “Now if you are done insulting my mate and me you can leave.”
“You are going to regret your decision, I’ll make sure of it.” She said, stabbing a nail into his chest.
“No I won’t.” He said, stepping back and slamming the door in her face.
He waited a few moments and watched her storm off through the peephole before he opened it again to let Mark in who he had seen getting off the elevator as she was snarling at him, he didn’t understand what her problem was, nor did he care. Mark looked at him, his hands full with bags. “Well that was a joy to walk into, honestly I never did like her.” He told him as he walked in.
“She wasn’t my choice either, I think I was dating her to appease my grandfather. I’m going upstairs to check on Ethan. When I answered the door I honestly thought she was you.” He told him, closing the door behind him.
“Maybe we should get one of those video door bells so we can see who is there. Not that I expect more problems but you know it never hurts.” He told him.
“You’re right, if you could look into that, the sooner the better at this rate.” He said walking up to his room. Ethan was sitting on the edge of the bed clutching one of the pillows. He walked over and sat next to him, he leaned against him sniffling and Leon put his arm around him. “Don’t cry my birdy, it’s going to be okay.” He said petting him.
“I know it’s just frustrating right now, I just feel like everyone is against us.” He sniffled.
“Mark isn’t, my Grandmother isn’t. My mother’s seem interested in meeting you, and I definitely am not. I look forward to everyday with you, waking up next to you, eating with you, and seeing our relationship grow. Sometimes fate is just an odd thing.”
“At least my family, with the exception of Mike, don’t know where I am, and probably don’t care. And that’s fine with me, I don’t need them. Don’t get me wrong I love some of them but I haven’t seen them in eight years and as far as I know they haven’t tried to contact me in any way, not that I ever expected Evan to.” He said bitterly. “But I helped take care of them all, and then I got betrayed by everyone but Mike.”
“You don’t have to worry about them, I will be your family from now on.” He told him. “And soon we’ll have our kitten and whoever comes next.”
“I am glad I found you.”
“I am glad I found you as well.” He gently stroked his cheek. “I saw you seemed interested in some names.” He said changing the subject.
“There were a few, I liked the names Natalya, Delilah, and Sara without the h for a girl, then well, Leon, Maxwell, and Anthony for a boy.” He told him.
“Interesting choices, any particular reasons?”
“Mmmn my mother was Natalie but I kind of like Natalya better, and Delilah is your Alpha mom's middle name and it sounds pretty. Then Leon because well it’s a family name and I love it.” He fluffed his feathers and tried not to blush. Leon chuckled. “As for the other’s I just kind of like them…” He muttered.
Down stairs the door slammed open and they could hear a voice call up. “LEON WHERE ARE YOU? HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME?!” Someone shouted. Leon cursed, it was barely even lunch time.
