"'Twas on the deep Atlantic//Midst Equinoctial gales//This young farmer fell overboard//Among the sharks and whales//He disappeared so quickly//So headlong down went he//That he went out of sight//Like a streak of light!"
Nico cackles with the rest of his crew, busting out a laugh as Lana dances on one of the logs they've placed around a fire they made.
Nico likes it when his crew enjoys themselves, especially when they're about to take a long ass trip to the next port.
He sighs as he scans the beach, and once again he sees no sign of that cabin boy.
Damn that brat.
"Oi! Where's the kid!?" He yells to his crew and they all shrug or look around the area just as he was doing moments ago.
Welp.
"I'll find him!" He yells and they all laugh as Lana falls off the log again, paying more attention to the entertainment than that of their captain.
He'll leave them to their fun.
Nico grunts as he stands, sighing again as he walks out towards the darkness.
"Oi! Omega!?" He looks around, towards trees, and towards the ocean. Nothing.
Damn... Did the little brat actually leave?
Nico walks further down the shore. Surely to god he didn't just up and leave for the nearest port? Or just walk into the woods thinking it'd take him somewhere...
Knowing this kid he probably-
Nico halts, sniffing the air as a luxurious scent fills his nose, Carmel and Sugar sweet on his tongue, but a large hint of spice hits it, making it whirl into something otherworldly delicious.
An omegas scent.
So he is here... Nico smirks, sniffing as he follows the scent towards a large boulder. Its strong here, and so he supposes thats exactly where his little cabin boy is hiding out.
He chuckles to himself, rolling his eyes, at how independent this kid seems determined to be, before going around the boulder.
And there he sits, brown hair slicked back from his face, none of it hanging in his eyes. A deep maroon colors his face and two bottles of empty rum sits next to him, a third, half full, one sitting in his hands.
He's fully clothed, thank god, and his clothes seem dry, so he must've taken a naked dip while he was alone over here. The smell of lilac reaches the alphas nose too, and so now he's supposing that the omega actually took a bath in the creek that runs into the ocean and didn't actually go swimming again.
"Oi, brat." He leans on the boulder, watching as those blue eyes turn towards him slowly, and he sees it.
He sees tears.
Nico is taken aback for a moment, and he can't tell if his eyes were playing tricks or not because as soon as Luca sees him hes turning away, glaring out at the water as he seems to shift back into his usual glare.
"The fuck you want..." He murmurs,"...Captain." He adds snarkly, sloshing another drink down his throat.
The strong omega scent around them turns sour, burnt carmel and stale sugar burning the alphas nose as the spice peaks to an overwhelming amount.
Nico clears his throat, ignoring the urge to comfort that swallows him whole, especially, if he saw coreectly, since Luca was crying.
"Looking for my cabin boy... Thought you'd left."
"Pfft ahah!" Luca laughs harshly, obviously drunk as he sways some, feet kicking the water where they hang over the edge,"I ain't got no place to go or be... So why would I leave the one place I can't get enough of..."
"What? My crew?" Nico asks, confused.
The boy is quiet a moment before whispering simply,"...The sea."
Nico stares at him, and he watches as the glare seems to slip away into a dead eyed look, one that, instead of full of fire, has a more distant desire in them. Almost as if hes looking fir something, but is staring into a void of nothing.
Nico feels something in his chest hurt at the sight.
"You good brat?"
He watches as those dead eyes look down at the sea below, which is only by a foot, and Nico feels his heart beat faster as the omega seems to get lost in the sight of dark water below himself.
"I'm fine, why do you care anyways? I'm just another mouth to feed."
Nico scoffs,"I care more about my crew than anything else."
"At least you have more heart than some, but you're still an alpha in my book."
"Not all alphas are the same."
"And neither are omegas."
"What? What are you saying here? What are you trying to get at?"
"That I don't need a babysitter, and if I wanna leave this damn place I will, so get off my back. I don't need to be watched, I handle myself fine." Those blue eyes turn towards him then, the dead look gone and returning to a deadly one, ready for a fight despite the sway of the smaller boys body,"Captain."
Nico stares for a moment before chuckling, shaking his head,"You're mean."
"And you're not a pretty sight, but I haven't said that yet. Until just now, that is." Luca spits back and Nico finds gimself laughing again.
Nico takes the liberty of sitting next to him, looking over at the smaller frame of a man sitting next to him,"What's got you so mean?"
"Nothing but the world." He mutters,"Gotta stay tough, Or I'd been raped and pregnant who knows how many times." He says harshly, glaring at the water.
Nico raises his brows,"Guess thats a way to put it."
Luca snickers,"The real world too hard there Captain?"
"I guess so." He says and stares at his boat floating aimlessly infront of them by a good distance.
Luca stares out at the boat too, and Nico sneaks a peek to see that blank look again, those blue eyes looking grey.
"When do you think you're next heat will be?" He asks.
Luca flushes, and Nico feels the need to keep that sight there forever.
Wait- huh?
"I-Its-" He clears his throat,"I dunno."
"You... Dunno?" The captain raises a brow.
Luca grumbles,"I'm a dominate omega so my heats are fucking weird... All it takes is one wrong smell, or something, and I fall over from nothing and go straight into heat." He growls,"Its dumb... But if it goes as I want it to, it should be in two weeks time."
Nico nods, staring out at the sea again,"You're not scared?"
Luca scoffs,"Why the fuck would I be scared?"
"Because... You'll be vulderable at the hands of pirates..."
"When I'm in heat I don't lose my mind idiot." Luca says in an almost offended manner,"I'm stronger than most omegas, I'm not a fucking pussy... I just need somewhere to lay when it gets really bad..."
Nico sighs, nodding,"You'll be staying in my quarters... I know how to control myself around a heat, so don't worry."
Luca snorts sarcasticly,"Wasn't worried in the first place."
Nico chuckles, and he grins out at the sea.
He glances at Luca again, finding the omega taking another long swig from his bottle. He then sets it between his legs, staring at the dark waters with a quiet look, face blank.
There's not a glare to be seen, and Nico finds his soft face attractive, alluring in the midst of the moonlight.
This kid is cute.
"Do you have family?"
Luca visibly tenses, eyes growing hard.
"No."
Nico stares at him, the omegas shoulders nearly touching his ears in an uncomfortable way.
"Well... Sorry if I said something wrong-"
"You didn't." Luca stands, and Nico watches as the omega stands, those blue eyes squinting back into a tight glare as he drinks the last of his rum, tossing it to the side with a clink,"I'm heading back to the ship, you and your scalawag crew will be there by morning right?" He looks at the alpha with questioning eyes.
"Damn right. We need to leave by sunrise to stay on track."
Luca nods, and stomps away,"Night idiot!"
Nico frowns,"Its captain!"
The omega laughs as he continues walking, holding an offending figure in the air without turning to look,"G'night Cap'in!"
Nico watches after him, and he feels a grin spread across his lips, watching as the boy goes.
