I felt a bright light on my face, so I opened my eyes. When I saw the branches of a tree, I sat down immediately. I was in a huge garden full of tall grass. Where the hell am I? I ran my hands over my face and stood up, looking around to identify the place. I walked around for a while; that seemed like hours, and I never moved away from the colossal tree. The same flowers were repeated; it seemed that I was in a place with no way out. Tired of walking, I threw myself on the grass and looked at the blue sky, which strangely did not have a single cloud. I raised my hands to the sky and started drawing on it; everything felt so peaceful. But the sky began to turn dark, and gray clouds were gathering, and I heard a loud scream in the distance.
“Help!” “Someone help me please” was a heartrending cry. I got up and started to run; the more I ran, the more constant the screams became. I turned back and saw the tree finally move away. I looked ahead and visualized something that looked like a small house, I ran faster, and the screaming continued. “I can’t take it anymore, please help me” the voice seemed familiar. Somehow I felt that as that person screamed, my vocal cords were tearing along with them, my breath was cut off as I ran, and my legs were no longer giving any more.
I came to a black metal door; it looked rusty and was locked from the outside with a padlock; I heard a distressed cry behind it. “Shit” I walked around, and there were no windows. It was a single room in the middle of nowhere, with a person inside crying. I’m not sure about this. “Help me please!” The person screamed again, so loud that their voice cracked. I felt a stabbing pain in my throat again. I ran to the door and looked around, saw a stone and took it. I started hitting the padlock over and over again. I hit it, and it didn’t work. I held the rock higher up and hit it one last time harder, and it finally fell to the ground. I moved the latch and managed to open the door.
“Nice!” I Praised, I went into the room, and it was dark. I felt something touch my shoulder, and it scared me; it turned out to be a chain that turned on the light. I pulled it and looked around in the corner. A person was covered with white sheets stained red. The person was covered with these from head to toe, I walked over, and the person somehow shrunk deeper into the corner. “Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you, I promise,” The person sobbed silently, and I moved closer. Their legs and arms were covered in bruises. They seemed to be wearing no clothes. When they raised their face a little, the hair and the sheets did not let me see it well. I brought my hand closer and moved the hair along with the sheet away from the face, and when I saw it, my heart fell to the ground. I walked away immediately and started shaking.
“NO!” I screamed, but he kept getting closer, I tripped over something, and when he was going to touch me, I felt someone shaking me. I opened my eyes. William seemed worried. I saw Amanda behind him next to Mom. He hugged me out of nowhere, I pushed him hard, and I sat on the bed.
“What’s wrong?” I looked around, and everything was normal. I brushed my hands all over my face, and I felt like I was wet. It seemed like I was crying.
“My love,” mom came over and hugged me - “You were screaming and crying, you seemed to have a nightmare, We were helping Will to put his things in the room next door, and he heard you, we were scared” - she said as her hand gently rubbed my back. I looked up, and William was with both hands in his pockets looking to the ground. Amanda sighed.
“Ma, I don’t think Elias wants you to pamper him so much; maybe it was a simple nightmare. Let him wake up properly, take a bath and come help us,” she said and winked at me. I smiled at her.
Mom walked away and looked at me, ran her hands through my hair, combing it back, “it’s okay,” she said, standing up, “Take a shower, have breakfast and come help us,” she said. She walked out the door. Amanda ruffled my hair and kissed my forehead, “We have to talk later, gnome,” and she also left, leaving William and me alone. He raised his face and looked at me. He didn’t say anything; he just stared at me for a while, with a strange expression on his face. I couldn’t find the meaning of it.
“What’s wrong? Do I have a horn coming out my head or what?” He just sighed and brushed his hair back. It seemed like he was going to say something, but he just rolled his eyes and closed the door behind him.
The room was empty and silent. I threw myself back and sighed. “Why the hell did I have to dream about that?”
I got up and went to the bathroom; when I came out of it, I tripped and almost fell to the ground, I looked at the floor, and it was my backpack. I forgot that I left it lying there. I got dressed and left my room. I looked at the open door of what will be the idiot’s room, I was going to enter, but I turned around for breakfast, went down the stairs, and found the three of them talking at the table. When they saw me, they remained silent, and I looked at them confused. I went into the kitchen and served myself a bowl of cereal. I heard the front door slam open.
“Good morning, family! The life of the party arrived,” she spoke loudly. I rolled my eyes as I left the kitchen. Mom laughed as Amanda ran her hand over her face and looked at me uncomfortably. I shrugged my shoulders.
“Hello Emma, beautiful as always,” -She said with a wink. “Amanda, my love,” She said, sitting next to her. Amanda moved slightly away from her. “Every time I see you, I fall in love more and more,” I pinched her really hard to what she complained. “What’s wrong? I see you daily. I have the right to ignore you from time to time.”
“Yury, leave her alone. Your charms are too much for her, give her a break,” said mom laughing slightly.
“I’ll take the keys to the house from you,” I said, sitting across from her, unfortunately, next to Will. He cleared his throat, and Yury opened her eyes, just realizing his presence. She looked at me, and I signed with my eyes, which she immediately understood and sighed. I love our friendship. “What brings you here so early,” I said, eating cereal.
“Well, you know, the usual, I was bored, Mathew too, so we decided to come and spend the day here. He is on his way since his mother still does not want me around, so I couldn’t pick him up. Nothing out of the ordinary.” She said calmly. Mathew’s mother was a bit “peculiar,” and she didn’t like that Yury was so ... Yury, so she didn’t want to see her around Matthew. Which he does not care since the three of us are always together.
“I’ll have to do the same over here with Elías,” whispered Amanda looking at me.
“Ouch, babe, did you get up on the wrong side of the bed?” - Yury said, looking at her. She sighed, got up, and went to her room, stomping really hard.
“One of these days, she will lose patience and hit you,” - I said
“Or she will simply fall for Yury’s charms,” -mom said, giving Yury a sandwich, and she smiled at her and stuck her tongue out afterward to me, a gesture that I repeated back.
“That’s why I love your mom more than you,” she said and looked at William. “And what are you doing here?”
