‘A child is easy prey to feast on for blood than it is to catch an adult. Seems like I don’t have anywhere to go at the moment, well I mean until my magic returns.
I’m not about to lose my source of magic on the first day, either. It’ll be a nightmare to have to hide you from everyone.’
That being said, the demon reached for the child's bag hoping to find anything useful in there, but at last, he is still nothing more than a child just caring a lighter around with him, in the forest. Sighing at the sad excuse for human children nowadays. Nothing but soft lumps of meat and flesh at this point. He thought.
Grabbing the child notebook, he flipped through the pages and noticed nothing but pictures of cats and a faulty drawing of human figures. Thinking back, he remembers cats were once rulers themselves and some were also able to teleport to the demon realm. Accidentally of course.
The thought also crossed him how he almost lost to a cat once. Things might have ended differently for him if he just lost to that cat. Maybe he wouldn’t be stuck in the human realm with no powers. Stretching his arms behind his head, he glanced at the sleeping child and a strong puff of purple smoke engulfed the demon, head to toe, turning him into a black cat. The same smoke, dispersed the blue flames into smaller piles until they were no more.
Walking near the child, he licked up the rest of the blood then laid next to him, waiting for the Human rescue party to find the missing boy. The dogs sensed a strong deadly aura, of the demon coming from inside the cave, and wouldn’t dare go near it. All they can do is bark and growl from a safe distance.
Everyone froze in terror, knowing all too well that they’re way off the safe trail and in the center of the wolf’s territory. The rescue dogs are too afraid to want to enter the cave, then one thought came into their mind, and that was a bear was inside that cave.
Backing away slowly with their dogs in front, they all apologized to what they all thought was a bear and quietly walked up the hill. All talking about an old story, of the forest once belonging to a god who was in the form of a bear.
Now with a headache and his patience depleting. The demon cat had no choice but to meow to get the weak bag of flesh to understand that the child is here as well as their new future ruler. The first meow alerted the dogs while the humans were too busy discussing a god who is not there. The second time, all the dogs heard the demon cat again and started to yank everyone closer to the cave.
The rescuers, being hesitant at first, decided to take a courageous leap, throwing a golf size rock into the cave, full force. Almost hitting the child. Annoyed with the way things are slowly going for the demon cat. Cursing all the dogs to yield to him, but one, yanked her owner inside the cave, dropping her to the floor.
Quickly, she fumbled to grab her phone from her vest, turned on her light source, and drastically whipped her arm around to look around the place. It was empty, and although she can see everyone outside, including the dogs, still in their bowing stance, no one can see her but the extremely dim light from her dying phone.
Hugging her K-9 closer to her, she put her hand onto the floor and stood up. Now facing two glowing pupils in her eye level, startled, she dropped her only light source, while stumbled back, tripping over her dog. Her breathing now becoming steadily heavy, she grabbed her phone from the ground, still shaking from what is in front of her.
She flipped her phone forwards and was greeted by a black cat, Who has just been chilling on a protruding rock the entire time. Trying to calm her breathing, she comforted everyone worries outside and started laughing. Walking back outside, she called her dog to follow, but she wouldn’t budge, her dog stayed inside the cave. All heard nothing but a harsh echoing yelp and saw the dog run out, passing everyone and towards her owner.
One of the men in the group, finally getting frustrated, marched in with bear repellent and his flashlight in the other hand. The whole group went silent. Patiently waiting for what happens next. The man came out with the missing child awake in his arms. The lady, confused, knew she saw no one in that cave, except the black cat. Everyone wasn’t happy with her, but they quickly moved on to the child.
Hours later. The reunion was something to remember. Finally, the search team has been called off. Everyone was thrilled about the child's safety, but after one look at the child, they knew something was still bothering him. At this moment he should be happy and jumping to hug his parents who are here, but right now he looks like he’s ready to throw a huge bawling tantrum.
The child ran back into the cave, looking for the missing demon. He fell to his knees and finally bawled his eyes out. Everyone just stood there confused, trying to comfort the child. He on the other hand kept pushing everyone away and falling to the floor. Repeatedly patting his forehead and looking at his hands, that only made him cry more.
One of the rescuers’ dogs kept pulling the leash towards the demon cat, whom no one realized had gotten out of the cave. He has just been laying on the floor where the sunlight is hitting at. That's when the rescuer realized that the child might have been looking for his furry friend.
Motioning to the first lady rescuer about the dilemma, she walked towards the child, placing her hand on his head, to point at the sleeping cat. The child, brimming with happiness, pushed her and everyone out of the way. Running towards the demon cat. Picking him up, he looks into the cat's eyes, silently breathing in the fresh cold air. It didn’t take long for the child to know that the shiny man, with blue fire in his hands, can also turn into a cat.
The demon cat, not giving a damn, just wanted to nap a little longer since his curse is still taking a huge toll on him, so he just let the child do whatever he wanted at this point. Even if it was spinning around and falling into the dead autumn leaves and twigs. He also suspected that the child wouldn’t let go of him now, given the form he is in.
