The next morning I woke up and immediately was reminded of last night’s events. Seeing my mate sleeping with someone else really hurt. I thought mates waited for each other and when they met were all over each other but for me it wasn’t to be. My mate clearly didn’t wait for me, looks like she didn’t want a mate at all because there was no remorse in her eyes when she realised I was her mate and rejected me. I don’t even know her name and am glad but I will forever have the memory of her rejection engraved in my mind. I will also never forget seeing her with someone else.

I just wasn’t lucky enough to get a nice mate and now I will never have someone who loves me. I will forever be alone and stuck as an omega in this awful pack. I sniffled before getting out of bed to get ready for the day. I had to make sure I was the first one awake each morning and was always the last one to head to bed at night. Being an omega was a full day thing. First I have to clean up after last night’s party because I doubt anyone cleared up after themselves, the guests must have left drunk and pack members must have gone straight to bed. I don’t know when the party ended, I had cried myself to sleep. I can’t believe I slept through the loud music.

Once I was ready to head downstairs, I wasn’t surprised to see the state of the house and began the long task of cleaning up before I had to help the Alpha’s cook make breakfast and everyone began to wake up.

It took me a very long two hours to get the house clean. I was exhausted afterwards but there was no time to rest. Ellie the cook was already in the kitchen making a start on breakfast.

“Morning Ellie,” I greeted the young, curvy, brunette cook. Ellie is the only person in the pack who is nice to me. She’s not an omega but sometimes is treated like one for being curvy and is called names. She is often told she will never find a mate, he will take one look at her and reject her but I don’t think there is anything wrong with her figure and don’t think she is overweight, she is just a little curvy but she is beautiful. If she was my mate, I would be glad to have her as mine but unfortunately we aren’t mates. I had a mate, now I don’t.

“Morning Toby,” Ellie smiled. “You look exhausted, what happened?”

“I had to clean up after the Alpha’s party yesterday,”

“Yeah I saw all the mess, I would have helped you out but I had to start breakfast earlier today as the Alpha requested a big breakfast,”

“It’s ok, I’ll just sit down for a minute then help you out,” I shrugged before taking a seat on a stool.

A minute later, I was still too exhausted and couldn’t move. Ellie took pity on me and insisted I remain seated, she would be ok and no one had to know I didn’t help her out.

Once breakfast was ready, Ellie went to serve the Alpha and once she came back, she sat beside me and we had the left over breakfast in the kitchen, it’s the only place we can eat apart from our rooms. We aren’t allowed to use the Alpha’s dining room or living room to eat. The kitchen is the only option.

After breakfast, I managed to help Ellie clear up and then went to my room because I wouldn’t be needed again until I had to help with lunch.

I lay on my bed to relax and soon I was no longer tired from all that cleaning. I sighed in content to be resting but it wasn’t to last as someone began to bang on the door.

I sat up in alarm while wondering who could be at the door. I hope it isn’t a pack member coming to give me a chore. I was about to ask who it was but I didn’t get the chance to when the door suddenly opened and in walked Alpha Drew. Oh no! He found out about me not helping Ellie this morning. He’s here to punish me.

“Alpha,” I greeted before looking to the ground nervously awaiting my punishment but it never came. The Alpha closed the door behind him and walked into the room.

“Why weren’t you at the party last night Toby?” The Alpha demanded.

“I was at the party,”

“Were you? I didn’t see you,”

“Yes but I didn’t stay long,” I admitted.

“Why?”

“I met my mate,” I replied sadly. I didn’t dare look up to see the Alpha’s face but I knew he would be angry with me for leaving his party. Although he didn’t sound angry. I heard the Alpha growl suddenly and knew I was in trouble after all.

“You met your mate?” the Alpha demanded.

“Yes,” I sniffled.

“If you met your mate then why do I get the impression you aren’t happy about it?” the alpha asked.

“She rejected me,”

I knew my cheeks reddened in shame. It was uncommon for someone to reject their mate, I must be really ugly if mine rejected me. I am still upset about that but I am glad she didn’t want me because who knows what kind of disease I could have caught from her if she was at it with someone else.

“She did what?” Alpha Drew growled again but louder than before.

“She rejected me,” I sobbed and I don’t know why but I told the Alpha everything that had happened last night.

“That is unacceptable,” Alpha Drew commented while he tried to get comfortable on my bed, he had taken a seat while I had started explaining to him. He looked a lot bigger up close and more handsome than I remembered. “Who was she? What was her name?”

“I don’t know Alpha but she isn’t a part of this pack and I didn’t ask for her name,” I mumbled.

“Well if you ever find out who she is then you are to tell me Toby understand?” Alpha Drew ordered as he stood and walked to door.

“Yes Alpha,” I nodded my head while wondering why the Alpha would want to know who my mate was. I am the Omega, it’s not like he cares what happens to me and why was he asking me all those questions?

“Good,” the Alpha said before leaving.
