I got into the bathroom and came out 10 minutes later dressed in my school uniform which was maroon trousers with a white shirt, a maroon cardigan was optional but I put one on anyway. I put on black flat shoes and put my long blonde white hair up in a ponytail with a maroon band. I applied a little mascara and eyeliner to my eyes. I grabbed my school bag and headed downstairs.

Mum was in the process of serving bacon and eggs which I eagerly ate in a hurry with some blood to wash it down.

I did a final check to see if I had everything I would need for the day in my bag and then mum drove me to school.

“Mum make sure you have some blood,” I reminded my in a low voice so no one would hear.

“I will. Now go before you get detention for being late,” Mum replied after rolling her eyes at me.

“Bye mum,” I said.

“Bye,” Mum replied before she drove away.

I walked towards the school and headed to the sixth form building where all the 16-18 year olds go. First class was biology which I had with my best friend Molly.

I walked to class and when I arrived, Mr Ralph my biology teacher hadn’t arrived yet. I took my usual seat at the back of the class where I was joined by Molly a few seconds later.

“Hey Si,” Molly greeted me with a smile.

“Hi Molly, how was-” I began to reply.

“Eye’s to the front class,” Mr Ralph interrupted me as he walked in. “I just want to get your attention for a second and then you can continue with last lesson’s work,”

Mr Ralph gestured for someone to come into the room. Everyone turned to look and in came a boy. He was the cutest boy I had ever seen in my life. He had black wavy locks with blue eyes, a very lean and tall body. All the girls were swooning over him but he only seemed to have eyes for one person. Me. I don’t know what was happening but it suddenly felt like it was just me and him in the room.

“This is our new student Blake,” Mr Ralph said and told Blake to sit at the only available seat which was right in front of me.

Blake made his way over without taking his eyes off me and sat in front of me, only then did he stop staring at me to face the front.

“Silver?” Mr Ralph called me.

“Yes sir?” I replied.

“Can I talk to you outside for a minute?”

“Ok,” I agreed with a groan. I know exactly what this is going to be about, my mother. Ever since Mr Ralph saw my mother drop me off to school one day, he has a thing for her. I don’t blame him as my Mum is gorgeous with her youthful looks. A great perk of being a Vampire, I never have to worry about wrinkles or sagging skin. I take after my Mum, I’ve been told I am a mini her but I don’t agree. The only similar thing between us is our blonde white hair colour. My facial features are like my Dad’s. I still miss him so much and wonder what life would be like if he was still here.

I shook my head. I can’t think of Dad right now. It will only upset me and the other students will laugh at me if they see me burst into tears. Teenagers can be so cruel but they should no better because I know I can’t be the only one who has lost someone I love.

I followed Mr Ralph out of the classroom.

“Sir this isn’t about my Mum again is it?”

“Actually it is,” Mr Ralph said with guilty eyes as he took out a small envelope from his blazer jacket pocket. “I just want you to give this to your Mum please,”

I took the letter from Mr Ralph as he held it out to me with no intention of giving it to my Mum. There is no point. Dad was Mum’s soul mate, she isn’t going to be with anyone else even if it’s been years since his death. That’s the thing with mates, you’re given one to be with for life. If a mate dies then their living mate can’t possibly be with another even if they wanted to, it would be too painful to even try. You can only be with the one you are meant to be with.

“Is that all sir?” I asked with hopeful eyes.

“Um no. I would also like you to show the new student Blake around and help until he is settled in to the school,”

What? He wants me to show the new hot boy around? I can’t do that. I wouldn’t know how to talk to him. I’d be so nervous and worried I’d make a fool of myself in front of him.

“But sir why me? Can’t someone else do it like one of the boys?

“No I’m asking you,” Mr Blake told me.

“Fine,” I gave in. This is going to be a nightmare.

We walked back into the classroom and my eyes shifted to Blake unintentionally who had a smirk on his face, weirdo. As I thought that, a growl came out of Blake’s mouth that only I heard which meant only one thing. Blake wasn’t human.

I sat back in my seat and slipped the letter in my bag. Molly looked away from her work as I did and mouthed ‘what was that all about?’. I mouthed back ‘I’ll tell you later’. Molly agreed with a nod of her head and continued with her work.

I began my work from where I left off in the previous lesson. The lesson was going by quick, when there were 5 minutes left for the bell, Mr Ralph told us to pack up and get ready for our next lesson.

“Silver remember what we spoke about, it’s your responsibility to help Blake settle in,” Mr Ralph reminded me before he forgot.

“But-” I tried to argue.

“No buts you will do it,”

“Yes sir,” I spat out.

The bell finally rang. I got my bag and started to walk out with Molly.

“Silver aren’t you forgetting something,” Mr Ralph pointing to Blake who was looking at me expectantly. What the hell is this? Why do I have to show the new kid around? When we all started school we weren’t given a tour, we had to find our own way around so why is this new kid so special that I of all people have to babysit him?

“Oh that,” I put a fake smile. “Blake Mr Ralph asked me to help you settle into school. If you’d like, I can show you around,”

“Yes I’d like that, Silver,” Blake replied in a husky voice. Oh wow! He knows my name.

“Ok follow me,”
