Years later... or earlier?
“what the hell is with this place?” Flowey grumbled to himself as he scuttled beneath the floor of his new playground.
At first he had been excited with the new find. An old abandoned lab deep beneath the heart of waterfall had seemed like it would be quite the interesting place, but now... Making his way through all the traps and puzzles had quickly become tedious. The puzzles ranged from easy ones he could solve in seconds to ones he was sure had no real solution; and the traps that sprung when he had failed, some of them were definitely designed to kill. If Flowey had been anyone else, he would have been dead. Still, he was sure that whatever was being guarded would definitely be worth the trouble.
Flowey glanced up ahead. A faint blue light flickered through the cracks in the tiles above. Excitedly he made his way towards the faint glimmer. Reaching out his vines he wrestled with the tile and pushed it aside, pulling himself up out of the hole as he did so. He glanced around the tiny room. There didn't seem to be much to it. Just a control panel and- “What the...?” Flowey exclaimed as his gaze landed on the creature trapped inside what he assumed was a stasis chamber.
Inside was the skeleton of a small child. Their bright hair dancing as the bubbles in the solution floated through it.
“What's a skeleton doing here?”
Flowey pulled himself up onto the nearby console. He frantically pressed buttons until the machine came to life.
“Aha! Now Lets see what we have here.”
Slowly he began to read through the notes on the screen.

Log 1:
Twins. Half souls. Tests indicate they were approximately 3 years of age at their time of death.
They fell into the underground not long after the other. Perhaps they were looking for their friend, a sibling? It would explain the similarity between one of the half souls and the other human's complete soul.
The king has asked me to find a way to combine the 2 halves. I confess, I do not see this as a viable option, but I will try.
I have constructed a small lab in waterfall well hidden from the rest of the underground. It is powered via hydropower and not the core. The surges in power that are irradiating from the core lately could destroy what little hope I have of this experiment actually working. I will have to look into the core surges, but it can wait.
I will begin running tests on the subjects in the morning. For now I have placed their bodies and souls in stasis. This should suffice to keep them intact.
(Those poor things. So young, too young.)
Log 2:
So many sleepless nights calculating and re calculating. Perhaps I am losing my mind but I find myself with only one possible option.
For this to work a combined soul must have a host, a form to cling to. However this would mean that whatever creature resulted from such an experiment would also have to be a monster, at least in part.
Luckily for me I am equipped with a unique set of skills for raising the dead thus animating the body, at least enough for a soul to cling to, should not be a problem.
I have removed all unnecessary materials from both subjects. A skeletal frame will be much easier for me to maintain. More tests will need to be conducted to determine which body and soul will be most suitable for the procedure.
(What am I doing? Wouldn't it be kinder to just let them rest?)
Log 3:
I have gone over the results. The subject with the blue soul has exceeded my expectation throughout. Though a soul with a distinctive trait of integrity will be harder to control than that of kindness, it is the stronger of the two and thus the best candidate for the next phase of this experiment.
(Torture. This equates to torture.)
Log 4:
I have constructed an artificial monster soul to encase the human soul. However when attempting to apply the construct, the human soul fought back in what can best be described as panic. I had to abort the procedure.
I was hoping it wouldn't come to this. Having the blue soul safely walled within the confines of the monster construct would have been easier when it came to combining both halves but it can not be helped. Both procedures will have to be conducted simultaneously in order for this experiment to succeed.
(I'm sorry ... I'm so sorry.)
Log 5:
Success. Combining both human souls while applying the monster soul construct seems to have calmed subject blue enough for the procedures to be completed. Once the green soul was fully removed from the stasis chamber subject green's body was no longer able to maintain its form and dissolved. I will run further tests on what remains, though I don't know if anything will be gained from it.
I have removed subject blue from the stasis chamber to better aid in the healing process.
(Please forgive me.)
Log 6:
She Subject blue is healing well. Combining the human souls and monster construct has had some rather odd and surprising results. The subject's soul is now a green turquoise. They have also grown hair in the same distinctive hue. Their eyes have changed to bright colours of blue and orange. Further tests are needed but I believe this to be a direct result of the magic from the monster soul construct.
(Stop... Stop... Stop.)
Log 7:
I can't do this.
Everything I've done. All she's been through. She's just a child... Just a child.
I know I shouldn't have. I knew what this experiment would entail but curiosity got the better of me.
Once she had fully recovered I had intended to take her directly back to the stasis chamber but I wanted to know more. I had to see it for myself. All the test results and readings would not suffice. Using my magic I woke her. It immediately became clear where her magical strengths lay.
the moment she reached for me I was filled with so much emotion I thought my soul would shatter. She was an empath. But it was more than that. She had projected her feelings into me as a way of communication. There had been no malice, no anger in those feelings. Only strong feelings of calm, concern and forgiveness. It was as if she could see into my soul. As if she had seen my actions, the reasoning behind them, understood and forgiven me. The sense of relief was overwhelming.
What am I doing? What can I do? Do I tell the king the experiment was a success? But doing so will inevitably lead to her death. No I can not allow that. I will tell the king the experiment has failed. I'll bring her home with me, care for her; a new sister for the boys. I know Papyrus would love her very much and though wary at first, Sans would warm up to her in time. She could be happy. We could be a family. I'll make up for all the wrong I have done. Yes, yes that is what I will do.
