I daresay I’m in a castle of sort. The travel from that room to the cells was long, but not much – it didn’t take more than five minutes to get here. Though I could be wrong, maybe this building, this castle isn’t that big, huh? Also, the medieval vibes I receive from everywhere is overwhelming. I was almost 50 years old back home, I’m too old for this kind of changes in my life. I need a plan to escape my kidnappers.
The guards outside started a ruffle, yelling at something in the corridor. I still can’t understand anything, but they sounded unsettlingly scared. I heard some steps approaching in, someone walking on high heels from the sound of it. Another voice filled the air with uneasiness. A chill ran down my spine as soon as the voice of the woman reached me. That was bad… Didn’t know why, but I could tell something bad would happen. I took the fabric they used to bring me in and covered my body. Then, I used the hay as a hiding spot. There was just a lot of hay to begin with, they wouldn’t notice a person underneath it.
I thought to myself that this was a great opportunity to escape. Whether the guards chase off the stranger, they’ll be too tired to deal with me… a wild thought but I needed something to believe in.
I heard some metal clashing and grunts, so I knew they were fighting. The woman was laughing like a maniac while the guards didn’t stop screaming. Are they losing? After that, a huge explosion reached my cell. The expansive wave left me breathless and barely conscious. I felt the debris falling in the hay.
Panic got a hold of my body as I realized what happened. There is no way someone would have lived through that, and there is no way the guards pulled off something like this. This must be the work of that woman… But the craziness behind it, God…
I waited impatiently for things to calm down. The woman laughed more at the view of her handywork, and I heard some rattling fading in the distant. Is she gone now? I was too scared to leave my hideout yet.
I waited a long time… 15 minutes I think – or was it 20? I couldn’t hear a thing… I thought it was safe enough. Outside, what I saw was unbelievable. The whole wall was destroyed and one of the guards was lying on the floor. A red trail led to the exit… so, she took the other guard. I studied my body a little more and realized this isn’t the body I was born with. My skin was white as the snow. My complexion was thin, but not as much as my sick former body. I have some muscle now! This is so confusing and frightening, yet so exciting!
I took there was no one nearby. Seeing the man lying on the floor, he was probably dead. The armor was blunt and covered in more blood, and he wasn’t moving an inch. Maybe I could use his clothes, I was still naked after all.
I removed the armor as fast as the intricated belts let me. Beneath the metal, there was only simple brown clothes, but they looked comfy enough. Dressed, I felt even more safe. I never thought I’d love some old gags like these.
Anyway, I need to get out of here.
I carefully walked down the hall and up the stairs I found near the end. It’s so damn cold here! I regretted not bringing a torch or something. When I got to the upper floor, everything was chaos. The fire covered part of the ceiling, and I heard the screams of everyone in the distance…
It’s an attack! They’re attacking the building. This is worse than a simple rumble. What on earth was happening here? I curled up in a corner, trying to calm myself. The plan hasn’t changed a bit, I need to get out of here, but how?
Some people were running at my direction, trying to escape? That laugh… it was the lady from before. The people she was chasing seemed to be the servants of the place. Perhaps I can use them to get out of the building. Yeah, that sounds like a better plan than running aimlessly until I find an exit. The psycho woman was still laughing when she caught one of the servants, a male. Muttering something, probably a cocky phrase, she dragged the guy back to where she came from. Her presence… I could feel the pressure even from that afar. She meant trouble, I’m glad I hid before.
The rest of the servants kept running and shouting, one of them looked at me in fear and confusion. Some tried to warn me of something. Listen, dear fellow, I cannot understand a single word you are saying. Infact...
“Sorry, I don’t know what you are saying?”
They frowned on me, confused. One man took me by the shoulder, pointing at him first and then a door down the hall. Ok, I guess they want me to follow them. We started running, it was a small group. For the first time in... hours? I felt really safe. It was nice to be with these people, I was lucky I ran into them on my way out. Now, we just need to reach the exit and hope that nothing bad happens. I know this could be a bad mojo or whatever you wanna call it, but what could go wrong? The servants should know a hidden path leading outside, right? I hoped for the best, and wished I was prepared for the worst.
