A long walk later after we strayed from our commute route, we finally arrived at the company. As we shuffled inside, it was full of employees that were in groups and talking with their fellow co-worker friends. Some were just casually walking to and from the building.
The moment we arrived, Han Min-Jun was surrounded by excited female co-workers that were giggling and blushing, while greeting him with “Good Morning’s” and effectively shifting Han Min-Jun’s attention away from me.
'Damn this lucky guy, why were you born so handsome?! How about sharing some of your charm with us men, who aren't as blessed in the looks department? Sharing is caring you know!' I thought bitterly to myself.
I wasn't that bad looking, just painfully average and while at home alone I didn’t care to put in any effort. I am just a normal looking guy who doesn't know fashion at all. If I had clean clothes for work, why would I bother to do more than that?
Anyone would look plain standing next to this guy anyway, so it was clear why I was pushed back away from Han Min-Jun when his fans started to surround him. I almost fell on my butt onto the floor because of how strongly they shoved me aside, just to talk to that guy.
I slipped away from Han Min-Jun while he was distracted by his groupies. ‘Finally I got rid of the bothersome person!’ I walked to the elevator and waited for it to arrive, pulling out my phone to check for any latest news or updates.
All of a sudden I felt someone grab my shoulder.
Startled, I immediately took a hold of their arm on reflex and flipped the person onto the ground, twisting their arm, hard. As expected of a black belt in Judo when I was still in high school. Muscle memory will never betray you.
"Argh!" I heard a familiar voice from the man groaning in pain under me.
"..Mr. Han Min-Jun?!"
I returned to my senses and quickly got up, releasing Han Min-Jun from my hold. ‘Oh damn it, I screwed up.’
"Oh shit! Are you alright Mr. Han Min-Jun? I'm really sorry!" I said in a worried voice as my heart started to race wildy in my chest and the panic began to settle in. Guilt was also weighing me down in my chest because of what I had done to Han Min-Jun.
Pushing himself up from the ground, Han Min-Jun shifted so he was sitting and massaging his abused arm. "It's okay, I'm not that hurt." he said, while smiling awkwardly at me.
I offered him my hand to pull him to his feet, which he accepted and slightly winced in pain.
"Are you sure? Do you need to go get yourself checked up? Because the impact was quite hard." I was looking at his arm and wondering if I had bruised it.
‘Well it's not my fault that he grabbed my shoulder from behind without any warning at all. He deserves to be in a little pain, based on just the way he kept being a pain in my neck through my morning.’
I could feel the piercing icy stares of the onlookers, judging me for my violent reaction. Especially the angry glares of Han Min-Jun's fanatics. If looks could kill, it felt like they really would smite me right there and then for what I had done to their God.
"Yes, I'm fine Mr. Baek-Yang, you don't need to bring me to the clinic." He replied while grinning at me.
"Okay. ...Are you really sure you're okay?" I asked again for the third time to be reassured he's really alright and not just saying he is.
"Yeah I'm alright, don't worry. My body isn't so weak that it'd get seriously hurt from being thrown around a little bit." He dusted his clothes and I sighed in relief.
"If you really want to make sure, then you can do a check up on me yourself, Doctor Su." He said with a teasing smile.
‘..Is this jerk flirting with me right now?!’ My eyes widened, "Did you hit your head when you landed?! What crazy nonsense are you talking about?!" I glanced around my surroundings, feeling embarrassed and nervous.
Su Baek-Yang, for the first time in his 23 years of life, is being hit on by another person. Who happens to be a man. This was not a pleasing development.
"I guess I'm crazy for someone." He said with a beaming smile.
‘God, stop it already! You are blinding me!’
Suddenly the elevator announced its arrival with a 'ding' , and we soon got pushed inside together by the swarm of other employees rushing in. I was pushed all the way to the back wall of the elevator, with Han Min-Jun in front of me. Of course, my fate wouldn't have it any other way.
"A-are you alright Mr. Baek-Yang?" He asked while caging me in with his arms, making sure he wouldn't squash me and at the same time protecting me from being crushed by the squirming mass of human bodies around us.
If I was a girl, this would probably count as a romantic event, but I'm a guy so the close proximity of another man in this situation just makes me feel uncomfortable. I tried to get more distance between Han Min-Jun and I, since I really wasn’t used to feeling somebody so close, regardless of their gender.
"I'm fine." I replied to him, my mouth suddenly feeling dry.
After a few minutes of being stuck in that awkward position, the elevator finally arrived at the floor that all the other employees were headed to. Getting off en masse, leaving just the two of us in the elevator alone.
"That was a lot." Han Min-Jun commented cheerily, like he was happy instead of being annoyed by the situation we were forced into.
"Yeah." I agreed with him. "Now move it." I said and pushed him aside.
When we finally arrived at our floor, we both left the elevator to walk in the same direction. Ambling our way through the hallway, we met Mr. Jeong Dae-jung. Our senior in the company who was famous for being well-liked among the female co-workers despite his weird personality.
"Oh Hello Mr. Su Baek-Yang and Mr. Han Min-Jun!" He greeted us with a smile on his face.
"Hello to you as well Mr. Jeong Dae-jung." We replied in unison.
"So, how is my face today? Do you think the client would like it?" He asked us about our opinion, while checking out his reflection in the mirror.
‘Wait, where the hell did that compact mirror come from? Oh never mind. I don't really want to know.’
"Ahm, you look good Mr. Jeong Dae-jung." I told him, clearing my throat.
'This guy has such a weird personality, he only likes his face and nothing else. Textbook example of someone who loves himself a bit too much.’ I silently thought to myself.
When he heard my answer, his face became pale like a ghost. "Good?! Only 'good'?! This is bad. My client won't like it!" He said in a state of panic.
I was caught a bit off guard by how Mr. Jeong Dae-jung reacted. ‘What the hell does he mean? Did I say something wrong?’
"Don't worry Mr. Jeong Dae-jung. Having a good face is equivalent to being handsome, so the client will like your face." Han Min-Jun's timely explanation saved me.
Mr. Jeong Dae-jung's expression changed to being happy after hearing Han Min-Jun's words. "Really? That's good then, I thought my face was having a bad day and the meeting would be doomed." Mr. Jeong Dae-jung said, sighing in relief.
"Yes, really. Right, Mr. Baek-Yang?" Han Min-Jun reassured Mr. Jeong Dae-jung and asked me to back him up.
"Y-yes." I stuttered.
Mr. Jeong looked at his watch. "Oh look at the time! I better go or I'm going to be late. I’ll be seeing you both again!" Mr. Jeong Dae-jung said his goodbyes to us and left as quickly as he had appeared.
