[“You finally got what you deserve! Your death will not be a good one…”]
No matter how many times I re-read this part of the novel, it never failed to make me smile in satisfaction. It was the moment where the protagonist, Erazor Crimson, finally managed to defeat the Demon King and then proceeded to hunt down for the rest in the Demon Kingdom.
It was satisfying because even on the first page of the novel, the Demon King Kannech, had been a thorn on the protagonist’s side. His attitude also added to the fact of how irritating he was.
Kannech enacted many schemes to kill Erazor but it just made him stronger instead. I would always laugh every time there was a scene where Kannech would just snarl in annoyance whenever his plan didn’t go through.
Nevertheless, I loved how the author didn’t make Kannech wait until the protagonist was stronger to kill him. He was a busy man so he thought that sending his subordinates would help to kill the protagonist.
Plus, the author revealed later on that Kannech was much more inferior than his underlings. His main power was Black Healing. It was a non-offensive type ability that was terrible against someone like Erazor who preferred to go ham on his opponents.
Unfortunately, the fact that Kannech was simply a healer instead of an attacker was his downfall. In the end, Kannech died and it was a sign that the book finally reached an end.
I was thrilled when the author announced the epilogue. I had been reading this novel for the past five years and had been following it since the beginning. At first, the novel didn’t get much attention and I treated it as something that only I could treasure.
But that didn’t last long. The setting, the plot, and the overall novel were so amazing that I wasn’t surprised that it got popular. I was a little bit sad but at the same time, I was glad that this masterpiece got the attention it deserved.
The title “Benevolent King” could be seen on my phone’s screen just as I was about to go to bed. I had been contacting the author and was excited when the author still remembered who I was.
- You always commented and voted for every chapter. How can I forget? :)
That was the reply I got. We texted back and forth the entire day today until at some point he offered me something.
-I’m actually planning on writing a sequel to this book. But…there’s a setback.
-What?! For real?! That’s amazing! I can’t wait to read it! But what’s the setback though?
I was worried that it might’ve been due to the author’s health. He was constantly posting about how his health was deteriorating and needed to focus on getting himself back in shape.
-To make this sequel…I need some fuel.
-Fuel? I don’t understand. Can you elaborate? Maybe I can help?
-It’s just that this book needs much-needed energy to be created. It’s weird to say this but I think you can help be the fuel.
I was about to close my eyes when I read the reply. I immediately sat on my bed. I was excited to see that this book would be written. Benevolent King needed a sequel since the continuation of how the kingdom would prosper never got a mention. The aftermath of the Demon King’s death was never mentioned too.
The Demon Kingdom was being destroyed by Erazor so I was curious what the fate of humanity would be like after their annihilation? Were they going to be happy now or would there be another threat? Kannech was a massive villain in the story but he also had allies that never stayed in the Demon Kingdom.
What if they were still alive? I could recall how there would be more than 10 higher demon species that were never captured in the novel.
And what about this “fuel” the author mentioned? If my guess was correct, I had to assume that the author was asking for my help in brainstorming. When the novel first got written, I would always give a few thoughts on how the characters should behave and what the protagonist should do next.
The author always took in my idea and it would appear in the next chapter.
Maybe the “fuel” was the plot?
My hands began to tremble as I sent a reply. If I could work with him, it would be a dream come true!
-Of course! Anything! I would gladly accept!
I sent the reply without a second thought. A few seconds later, I received a reply from him.
-Great! I can work on a sequel now! Thank you!
-You’re welcome! So, when are we going to meet to discuss this? Maybe you can send the address of your nearest café? We can brainstorm there together.
I was extremely excited at the chance that I could finally meet the author and work with him. But the next reply he sent made me frown.
-What do you mean? I didn’t say anything about working together.
-Huh? I thought that was what you meant by “fuel”.
-Haha, You’re funny. That’s not what fuel means. It means that to create a sequel, I need to send you to “that world” as an offering. This story, after all, is real.
“Huh, what does he mean by that?” I asked myself in the dark. The bright screen made me squint my eyes.
I sent a reply asking what he had meant but after waiting for five minutes, he never read it. There wasn’t even a sign that my text was delivered to him. It was as if he just purposefully turned off his phone so he wouldn’t receive my messages.
I turned off mine before laying on my bed again. I began to question what the author had meant by his words. To say the least, it was ridiculous. What the hell did he mean by “send me to that world”? It sounded like he was going to do some weird magic and bring me to a different world or something.
I knew that he was an author but that was a very imaginative mind. I’d read so many novels where the protagonist got sent to a different world so I thought that author was just fooling around.
Also, he mentioned that the world was real? What the hell did that mean?
I sighed in the dark before laying on my side. I was a bit bummed out that the author laughed at me for trying to help him write the sequel. I understood why he would react that way.
An author worked better if they created the story by themselves. Two people working on the same thing sometimes would result in a lot of boring results. Plus, I wasn’t that close with him. There was no way that we could see eye to eye with each other. So, the likelihood of being his co-writer was more of a joke than utter seriousness.
“Damn, I really want something to distract myself,” I muttered with a sigh.
I hated reality. That was why I kept entertaining myself with books and made sure I was so deep in the story that I completely forgot reality even for a second. This life was dull. There were too many responsibilities but so few rewards.
I closed my eyes and imagined how great it'd be if I could use powers. I was confident that I would be natural at it.
The dream world enveloped me into sleep, not realizing that a circle of light was also wrapping itself around me.
