The information he gave me was useless!
Ugh, I was so enraged right now! Most of the stuff he was giving me was about human settlement and the Hero! This prick really thought I was going to be a human or a Hero when I came into this world!
There was little to no information about the monster race in the file attachment that he sent me. It took me over an hour to finish reading everything and all that it gave me was:
[The monster race needs to be annihilated. Since the possibility of you being in sync with a monster race is particularly low, there’s no point in giving information about that.]
I could feel the author fucking grinning when he made this stupid shit. I groaned out loud, glaring at the blue sky. I wanted to destroy that happy sky so bad!
Everything was making me aggravated right now. No, the author was the only one making me feel this way. I was stuck here without my permission and now I was supposed to fend for myself?! This was ridiculous!
I took a deep breath before looking at my phone again. I needed to control my emotion from now on.
Fortunately, I did get a few useful information that could help me. Since I was practically an outsider, the author took the opportunity to make it easier for me by creating a status system. It meant that I was basically seeing this world as if it were a video game.
This one I had to commend him for thinking about it. I was a reader living in a peaceful world without war and such. Well, to a degree. So, he knew that I'd struggle to blend in. By creating a system like this, it'd give me the illusion that I was a player wearing some VR and playing an MMORPG.
To make the screen appear in front of me, all I had to do was imagine the screen or say the word out loud. I begin to picture what a status screen looked like and a second later, it appeared.
I hesitated to look at it, fearing that I was going to get something highly destructive. I didn't want that.
[Character Information]
Name: Kevin “Kannech” Morren
Race: Demon King (Mage Support)
Skills:
Black Healing, Illusion, Elemental Magic, Enhancement, Puppeteer’s Harley ????? ERROR ????? ERROR ????? [Unable to retrieve remaining abilities]
I…was speechless.
Was I seeing things properly here? There was a familiar name in the middle of my full name “Kevin Morren”.
Kannech.
Demon King.
Skills.
The person I was right now, wasn’t the one who I thought it was, wasn’t it? No, there was no way. I laughed at myself but it sounded weak. I was trying to remember the description of the Demon King Kannech in the novel that I was obsessing over for the last five years.
[His hair was a beautiful pastel purple color. It was in contrast with his dark grey ghoulish skin. A pair of snake-like eyes were menacingly stabbing Erazor. Finally, two black horns were protruding on his head. He was the Demon King, Kannech. The destroyer of mankind. The one person that Erazor wanted to kill the moment that disaster fell upon him and his family.]
I let out a deep sigh. I was in fact…Kannech. Another surprise that I never foresaw coming.
“The person I’m most in sync with, huh?” I mumbled to myself. Then I realized something. "Wait, what the fuck?! Kannech?! As in Kannech from The Benevolent King?!"
I couldn’t believe it! I was teleported into a novel? Wow.
I didn’t know whether to be happy or scared at this discovery. I had so many things to unpack here. I was glad that I finally knew what the author had meant when he asked me to explore this world. He knew where I was going to be teleported to, meaning that he had hoped that I was more in sync with Erazor Crimson, the protagonist of the novel.
Unfortunately, I got myself inside the Demon King instead which everyone thought was dead.
I stared at my status again. The author didn't provide the common health points and mana pool that RPG games usually possessed. Not even stats. Not having that was a major problem seeing as I wouldn't be able to know when I was going to die or whether I could still use my abilities.
From how I saw myself before, it looked like I was severely damaged. So, it meant that Kannech never died and instead managed to escape from the Hero.
Seeing as I knew a little bit about Kannech’s abilities, he must’ve done something to deceive Erazor into thinking that he died. I stared deeply at the word “Illusion” on my screen and heaved a sigh.
Even a dumb person knew what happened.
No wonder that prick of an author wanted to make a sequel. The question that arose now was: Was I a character in the sequel, or was I living a separate reality?
I checked for the file again but it never mentioned being a character in the sequel. It was more of the fact that he advised me to just live leisurely before he finished the book. Did it mean that I was supposed to stay in this weird fantasy world only for a while?
Well, he never said anything about being the Demon King himself, right? Did the author even know that Kannech never died? I opened the book on my phone and read through the last few pages of the deciding duel between Kannech and Erazor. I frowned.
[After taking his last breath, the Demon King Kannech dissolved into clouds of smoke, never to be seen again. This finally marked the end of endless torture from the demons and devils of the world. Erazor could finally smile.]
I read it again.
[Demon King Kannech was truly dead.]
And again.
[After weeks of countless expeditions to find Kannech's remnants, they concluded that the Demon King never reappeared. The High Archmage even declared that there was no sign of his soul moving about on the planet.]
I stared awkwardly at the screen. Well, yeah. I was the one who replaced his soul. No wonder they couldn’t detect him. It was a huge relief on my part.
If they were still searching for him, there was no way I could move away from this spot. No, I didn’t think I could even move far away enough before the Hero came here to finish me off.
I was safe, to say the least. If Kannech was destroyed that badly by the Hero in the novel, then someone inexperienced like me even didn’t stand a chance at all to fight him.
I decided something right then and there.
