I needed to stay hidden until the sequel was finished. I was scared about my chances of getting back to my world if I die here. The author didn’t mention either whether I would get sent back to my world if I died on this planet. Since the Demon Kingdom was gone by now, the planet itself was gone from an actual threat.
Erazor Crimson was quite literally the most powerful person alive currently. If they knew of my existence, I was going to be in deep trouble. If I die here, I might not be able to come back.
There was also a possibility that they would destroy my soul using holy magic. I was living inside a monster race so I was sure that my soul could be taken as evil.
I didn’t want to risk the idea of dying. There was a higher chance that I would die permanently if I get caught. So, I had to avoid any unnecessary encounters with anyone. Not even with other monster species.
I read through the file again to gather as much information as I could. The day was getting darker and I had to find a more secluded place to stay. I scrolled fast through the words.
[There might be a chance that you’ll get teleported away from a settlement, so I provided something special for you! A map! Just utter the word “map” or think of it. It's similar to trying to view your status. Try it!]
His happy-go-lucky tone from these words really irked me. My eyes twitched in annoyance but I followed his instruction anyway. A map was much needed in this unknown forest. Plus, if this was the world of Benevolent King, I could probably grasp where I was currently.
I thought of what a map looked like and a second later, a screen flashed in front of me. As expected, it was the map of this planet. I tried to move the screen around using my finger and luckily, it worked. I could also zoom in and out, making it much easier to see smaller things like caves or small villages.
I played around with the map a little until I noticed a mark of where I was. There was a red dot with the word “You’re here” on top of it. There was a cute chibi version of Kannech smiling next to the words. I stared at the screen in disgust.
It seemed like I was located in the middle of a forest called The Howling Jungle. I turned on my phone again and used the search button in the novel app that was made to search for something specific. I put “The Howling Jungle” in the search bar.
Thank god it didn’t need a data connection to search since a second later, the screen showed exactly what passage I wanted. “The Howling Jungle” was highlighted in yellow. I felt extremely grateful for technology right now and wanted to cry. If I had to swipe, it'd take me hours before I found the right passage. I began reading through the information given about this forest.
[The forest itself wasn’t exactly built for humans. Erazor knew of this, thus he had decided to take on this royal quest alone. If he were to go with companions, there was no guarantee that they'd come out alive.]
Oh, right. This was when the princess of the Greolla Empire went missing. The last place she was seen was when she fled into the Howling Jungle and never to be seen again. Nobody knew why she decided to run away here since it was the most dangerous forest located on the northern side of the map.
It was heavily populated with monsters and demons. It got to the point where Erazor had to fight five different high-grade monsters and an Earl Demon before he found the princess.
Unfortunately, the princess was long possessed by a curse placed by Kannech. She wasn’t herself anymore so in an attempt to save what was left of her, Erazor had to place a Holy Seal unto her.
It was never really mentioned in the novel of her fate but if I could take a guess, they'd have to announce her death to the citizens. Unfortunately, Greolla Empire wasn’t going to use this golden opportunity by simply killing her.
As far as I knew, Erazor sent her back to her parents before they announced her death the next day. Erazor left the kingdom but that wasn’t the end. Greolla Empire was known to use every little bit of chance to find Kannech’s weaknesses. Since the princess was under his curse, there was a high chance that she was being experimented on in the castle’s dungeon.
My stomach felt queasy when I imagined what sort of tortures she had to endure. It made me even more nauseous to know that she was probably still alive right now, waiting silently in the dungeon.
She was declared as a dead princess after all. If she were to resurface again, it was going to rouse suspicion especially since everyone had already known she was under Kannech’s curse.
The curse itself was called Puppeteer’s Harley. Anyone under the curse was controlled fully by Kannech however he wanted. It could only be rid of by Kannech himself. Kannech could place his abilities inside them or distort their personality to the point that they could no longer know themselves. The name of the skill spoke for itself. Kannech was the puppeteer while his victims were the puppets.
I hated Kannech for what he did but at the same time, I hated Greolla Empire for making it worse for her. I wondered whether I could still help her or not…
I was Kannech after all.
But I had some weird bugs in my skills. I brought up my status screen.
