As I was on the ride back to the house, I paused by that mansion again…there were a few cars now parked in the long driveway: strange looking cars that I didn’t recognize obviously, but the cars were strange looking by their shapes and the way the cars just looked because of how…expensive and how strange the cars looked: I could have sworn I saw a hearse, but the car that got my attention for the most part was this…glitzy, chrome covered and supped up muscle car painted neon red with adornments of black, white-wall tires and all of these strange adornments on it. I parked my bike as I looked at the fence, nobody was on the grounds or anything.
“Been a while sense I’ve done this” I said quietly to myself as I looked around before running down the sidewalk, kicking off the base of a tree before grabbing one of the stone pillars of the fence and threw my leg up to lock my foot into a curl of iron before lifting myself in an arch over the spiked points, kicking off the stone on the other side of the pillar due to the freshly planted rose bushes just on the other side of the wall. I breathed deeply as I dropped onto the ground on my knee and hands, I could probably do very, very well if I was on some form of gymnastic competition or team because of how I’ve been always doing things like this: climbing over dangerous walls, trying to get through/over/around things that could very seriously harm me if I wasn’t careful, but it also made me extremely cautious because of this…flare I have for doing things like this. I always had bumps, bruises and small injuries because of constantly trying to get away from the house, my parents or really…people in general. I moved along the wall as I looked at the house, there were no lights on or anything, the smell of freshly poured concrete, fresh paint and various other scents of the repairs being done on the house that honestly were kind of pleasant smelling. I balanced atop a small garden retaining wall to avoid leaving footprints or marks along the plastic covering the freshly poured pool deck, the inside was recently sealed and everything around it was tacky from having to cure and dry. There were a few doors and things open to keep the fumes of paint and other construction materials moving out of the house despite its absurdly large size being more than enough to keep the fumes from smothering the people. I looked around as I got to the base of the house before reaching up and grabbing the bottom rail of the wrought iron railing along a balcony. The house was set on a very…uneven area: the garden and pool were ground level, but the hill swept up to what would be the second floor where the foyer and everything was, so going through the door would be more on the second floor than the ground floor. So from the side and back of the house, you could see how it’s four stories tall, but on the front, it only looked three or so.
I gripped hard on the iron as I avoided touching anything else as I moved myself across the back patio before swinging to the side and letting myself fall/sail over to my right as I landed on the softly rising hills that made up the house’s backyard. Looking around…there was a lot more that was being built. The house only had an empty, drained pool that people would cover with stolen tarps to attempt to hot box them with terrible quality weed they got from their cousins or something, but now the house was lined in black tiles along the walls and these dark, dark evergreen colored metallic paint along the bottom, but I could see where the wall between that side door where it swept around the corner to the back patio was now adorned with recently set in place stone cabinetry with paper wrapped counters for protections, the back patio covered in this grand pergola of matching iron and freshly set in glass, there were other fixtures I could see about the back/side yard that hadn’t been there before. Recently made firepit, still drying concrete for the new deck, what looked like a pizza oven or something along with…various other things including a very, very massive looking hot tub, still plastic wrapped and sealed. Whomever had just bought the house and was doing all of these renovations were definitely an entertaining family…or a huge family that all like to have these kinds of things at home instead of having to leave.
“I wonder what they do” I said quietly as I looked at the way the dark stone, wood and brick almost glistened in the moonlight from the fact everything was just a touch moist from all of the work that were being done on the house. I could smell the lingering metallic, acrid tang of hot tar from the shingles being sealed and properly treated for the weather here. I kind of hoped they had a kid around my age or so, someone that I could…just spend time with and be friends with, someone that understood what it’s like to be like me, to be ostracized, to be bullied, treated poorly and felt like a fish out of water no matter where they were. I mean, I’m twenty one, so there is just…I don’t want to be alone anymore, I want…at least, someone that I can talk to about all of the bullshit the world forces me through face-first. I sighed deeply as I dropped back on my ass on the hill as I looked towards the mansion in front of me, looming in front of me like a poison soaked needle or some sort of rotten tooth in the maw of the monster that is the town around me.
“I’m pathetic” I sighed deeply as I looked down towards the freshly laid dark grass around me, I ran my fingers through the thick blades, wet with dew and cold with the crisp late autumn air verging on sending the dew to frost. My breath softly fogged because of the ungodly hour of the night it was now, the moon far above my head only a day or two away from being full, looking far too large almost, though it was probably the clearing the house was built into giving this weird distended view of the moon above making the moon appear so much larger than normal. I let my hands slid back along the grass as I looked up towards the dark sky, the passing stray falling stars streaking across the dark wash of space as stars filled the air like a thrown handful of glitter with the lack of light around us, the bottomless thick forest in all directions far darker than the works of space above me, the sound of nature around me drawing me deeper into the quietness, the darkness and felt…comfortable: the deep quiet, the unnatural stillness, the strange and almost forceful calmness of just…being alone for who knows how long and…truly be alone without a person in…who knows who much distance.
