I thought about what type of element I should use. Elemental Magic was different according to the owner of the ability. Some could master three while some could only master two their whole lives. Some couldn't even master even one.
Since I was in the body of Kannech, it was natural that I was proficient at every element except for Light Element. It was even mentioned in the novel at some point. So, out of all the elements, I chose the simplest one which was Fire.
Fire Element was one of the easiest to learn and master. A first-timer like me wouldn't struggle especially when I had Kannech's power within me. I was confident in that.
I began to imagine that the tip of my finger had some sort of small bullet made out of fire. A second later, a little bright ball showed up at the spot I was thinking of.
Nice! I can't believe it! My first actual magic that isn't accidental!
With a giddy heart, I pointed my finger gun at the back of the deer's head and imagined the fire bullet moving at a lightning speed. I "pulled the trigger" and then felt the bullet fired away from my finger. It landed right where I wanted it to be!
It was a sight to see. The attack landed but I clicked my tongue in annoyance when it didn't deal enough damage as I hoped. Startled, the deer let out a deafening roar, enough to scare away the birds perching on the trees. It looked back to where I was but fortunately, I managed to hide in time as I heard the deer let out a huff. I was able to see its vicious glare in time though.
I was weirded out at how that deer looked. It had glowing green eyes and I also caught on how it had a pair of arms jutting out of its long thick neck. I shivered at the thought of this mutant-like creature.
I was hesitating to eat it now but it was still in my way and I needed to kill it.
The deer moved to where I was hiding and I thought of a different spell to cast. The limit to this power was my mana and imagination after all. I had wild creativity and suffered from a symptom called Maladaptive Daydreaming where I would separate myself from reality and started to daydream for a long time.
It could last until hours before I gained back my sense of self. I couldn't count how many times I turned in my assignments late because I was too busy escaping reality. I was even close to getting fired from my current job because they deemed me of being too tardy.
So, it wouldn't be hard to think of something especially now that I could make something into reality. No more daydreaming. I grinned. Now, what to do?
I waited until the deer was close enough before I manifested two chakrams made out of fire in my hands. It was easy enough to think of and little by little, I was getting used to this power. I didn't know what my limitation with mana was like but I was still fine.
I rolled out of the tree which caused the deer to take a few steps back in shock. Without any delay, I threw the chakrams right where I wanted them which was the two protruding antlers on its head. I had a feeling that it would be trouble for me if it decided to charge when we fight.
Fortunately, it made clean slices for each antler and the deer stood on its hind legs in anger. If I could take a guess, it was extremely angry at me as it began to roar louder this time, causing a small tremor.
I prepared yet another spell and this time, I used the Earth Element. However, I didn't cast a spell just yet. I didn't know what the deer would do. Earth Element was considered perfect for self-defense as it was labeled as a defensive element.
All of the sudden, the hands it had on its neck were rubbing their palms together before something appeared out of thin air. I frowned in confusion but it didn't last long before I realized what had happened. A black-like orb was floating on its palms. Something began shooting out of the orb and was heading straight at me.
I didn't get to avoid it and a black spear made out of liquid pierced my right biceps. I hissed in pain, feeling something for the first time since I came here.
Shit, this is bad.
A constant barrage of black liquid spears started to shoot out of the orb while the deer was preparing to charge at me.
Despite having Enhancement ability, I didn't know how to use them yet. The meeting with this deer was accidental after all. So, I was forced to only use Elemental Magic.
Even so, I just grinned at the creature. If imagination was all that it needed, I had already won.
To block the spears, I raised a stone wall in front of me right as the dear charged. The spears landed on the wall instead of me. The charging deer was soon halted when I placed my palm on the ground.
I made the seeds on the ground started to grow at a rapid pace while the tree roots grew upwards instead of downwards. Soon after, vines and roots entangled themselves around the deer.
Nature Element.
Thank goodness I was able to use it. I thought that being a monster species, nature would restrain me from using it like Light Element did. I dispersed of the stone wall and clenched my left fist, making sure that the vines and roots were clutching onto that animal hard until its skin started to bleed.
It was writhing in pain, letting out a pained whine as I walked toward it. The hands were also in a bind, making it unable to continue using that black orb again.
If I could take a guess, it was using some sort of poison magic derived from the Venom Element. The black spear that pierced me left quite a nasty poison. The veins around the hole were black, and it made me heaved in pain.
I needed to finish this deer off and heal this wound.
I raised my left arm and imagined that I was holding a spear made out of fire. It was long and thick. I made sure that it was big enough to pierce through that deer's head.
It was still trying to escape my vines but with one vicious glare at the creature, the vines and roots now all of the sudden grew thorns long enough to pierce its body. Its bones were crushed from the tight wrap while the thorns were keeping it in place. I'd made a simple alteration to the current vines.
I surprised myself with how I could think of that on a whim.
"I'm really sorry, buddy but I need you to die," I said.
With one throw of the fire spear, it made a clean hole right through the deer's brain. The spear vanished a few meters after it went through.
The deer itself was now dead.
I approached the giant creature and used the vines to maneuver it safely to the ground. It laid on its side and I withdrew my skill, causing the vines and the roots to go back to their original size.
I also made sure that the holes on the ground were patched up as if it was never touched in the first place. I didn't want any random mercenary group to discover this mess.
I wasn't particularly tired. I only used a few spells but it felt a little bit too much too. Three different elements were used by me for the first time. Fire, Earth, and Nature. A normal human being wasn't even able to control two, let alone three.
I was quite impressed with Kannech now. No wonder he was able to take Erazor in a one-on-one battle that lasted around 27 chapters before his impending doom. Despite being labeled as a Mage Support, he was capable of dealing a huge amount of damage to enemies. Perhaps, he was a mage before support. I didn't know much about what his character was. Plus, with me being him right now, there was a higher chance that I could make him even more powerful.
I was about to let out a laugh but then I remembered my circumstances. Right, I was trying to live peacefully without encountering Erazor, not conquering the world.
I sat down on the ground and began to inspect the wound left by that deer. It was an amazing skill that it cast on me. It was an upgraded version of my fire spear skill. I wondered if I could use it to my advantage. I unlocked three elements overall and I knew for a fact that there was an element for Venom. Perhaps, next time.
