"Like any other, boring". Down the hall Jason spotted the black kid again and weirdly enough the kid was still staring sourly at him.
"Hey chuck, who's that?".
"Who?".
"The black kid in the Blazer".
"That's Kevin McCallister, if I was you I would avoid him".
" Bad news? ".
" Very. He's a member of The Elites".
" What the heck is that?, And what's with the "The", that's like so unoriginal, are they like the popular kids or something?".
" Popular kids?, No their better than the popular kids, I don't know who chose the name, but it fits. If this school is a kingdom then their royalty. They're like the best of the best, the best quarterbacks, best cheerleaders, best of the swim team".
" And what his angle, what's he so good at?".
" No one knows, he challenged George from the press club to a fight and he won".
" How's that supposed to be fair, isn't he supposed to challenge the press guy to a battle in his own area or something?".
" That's the thing. George was a boxer".
" Oh".
" But no one knows why he joined, he doesn't hangout with the rest of the elites and all, in fact you might go so far as to say he avoids them".
"Then who does he hang out with?".
" They call them the Misfits".
" That sounds mean".
" High school is mean". Jason agreed with that, he wouldn't have used the word mean but he guessed it all boiled down to the same thing people were mean, most times they didn't need a good reason to be.
"Speaking of the Misfits. Look there, That brown haired guy standing with the blonde girl". Jason looked. The boy was talking to the girl and she was laughing.
"The guy's Alexander Roy and the girl's Jessica Campbell".
"Why do they call them the Misfits?".
"Their Jewish and they have another one. She's Japanese or Chinese I've never been able to tell the difference. This is idaho, one's odd enough, all of them together is super odd, and well their not exactly ...well you know normal". Chuck shrugged. Jason understood all to well people wanted people to be like themselves. People didn't like what they couldn't understand.
" That explains the name". Jason continued watching them especially the girl. Jason thought she was cute, not drop dead hot but cute. He silently wondered if they were dating. The boy looked kind of nerdy Jason wasn't one to judge, he was only mildly curious. The boy turned and saw Jason, tapped the girl and pointed at Jason with his thumb, the girl turned as well and looked at Jason, and to his surprise smiled. One thought flashed through his head as he saw her smile. She was beautiful. The bell rang signaling the beginning of another boring period. The boy and girl walked away probably to their next class, Jason sighed and looked at their backs longingly. Chuck nudged Jason in the ribs and pointed with his chin.
"and that there is the last member of the Misfits". The last member of the Misfits was an Asian probably Chinese she had purple streaks in her hair and was dressed in Black, she saw Jason and frowned. Jason had it with people gawking at him today did he have a sign painted on his head saying Outcast? And besides he didn't need to be judged by a Goth Asian wearing combat boots.
Jason stopped, Chuck was saying something but he Jason couldn't hear him.
They were in the middle of the fall, it was a sunny day, the hallway wasn't that crowdy, most of the students were rushing off to their next class, so they was no logical explanation as to why the girl did not have a shadow, not even a small one.
The girl seemed to have noticed Jason's discomfort smiled and walked away. She was soon out of view.
"...Did you get me Jason?".
"Sorry I didn't get you. I was thinking 'bout stuff. What did you say?".
" I said P.E class sucks".
Author's note: I'm very sorry for any typos, I'm an amateur after all.
