Chapter 8-The Truth

Chapter 8-The Truth

Sep 28, 2021

I furiously closed the door behind me once we made it back to base.

"Well, at least we got another vehicle to bring back," Mike said, chuckling.

"Hey, when Mike asked what Kylo had done to you, well you kinda went crazy. And you looked pissed, did Kylo actually do something?" Tim whispered.

"Nah, it's nothing".

Tim nodded and me and him both made our way inside to see Kylo standing there just like always. Still, even though it was just like always, something was different this time. Kylo looked eager, excited and ready for something. What was that something? Well, I didn't know, probably whatever he needed the power supply for.

"The mission, was it a success?" Kylo asked, looking anxious as well as exhilarated.

Mike smiled and gave Kylo the bag.

"The mission, ya it all worked out. Little obstacles along the way but nothing I couldn't handle".

"Hey Scott, follow me" Tim whispered.

I was confused but he insisted. So, I reluctantly ran behind him excusing myself from the useless conversation Mike and Kylo were having. Once I left to go after him, I was basically participating in a chase. I didn't even know where I was going but I just continued forcing my legs to move as fast as they could. And when I say as fast as they could, I mean barely moving because my legs were aching with pain.

Each step felt like kicking a brick that wouldn't break, it did make sense though as I had just participated in a museum heist, a cop chase and a shootout. All with no breaks in between, so I was pretty tired at this point.

"What happened?" I finally asked after concluding what felt like an hour long unnecessary marathon.

"Close the door," he said.

I pushed his words aside and instead looked around, I noticed I was in a cold dark compacted room with nothing but dust everywhere. Well, now things were getting a little suspicious. Why was I in a room? Why did he want me to close the door? Was he planning something? I would have to find out. I closed the door behind me and then asked him the same question again.

"What happened?". "Scott, I know why you're here, man" he told me.

Wait what? Tim didn't know, right? No, he couldn't have. There was no way!

"You're not involved with these guys. You're a cop, you came in this organization disguised. And don't you even try to lie! I know you were in close contact with the police captain Graham!" Tim shouted.

Wait what? This is why Tim wanted to talk to me? He knew why I joined the organization. He knew I was a cop, he knew everything.                                                                                                                                                                                                  That meant the mission, it failed.

"Why did you even come here?" Tim asked.

I looked down, the cold jagged concrete was all I wanted to see as I answered his question.

"To avenge a friend" I whispered with pain in my voice.

"What?" Tim asked.

"Forget it, how the heck did you even find out".

"How wouldn't I? Come on Scott, you really don't recognize me?" Tim amusingly asked.

"What do you mean?".

Tim didn't respond, he instead lifted his hands up, and slowly took off his mask revealing who he truly was.

"Liam?!" I yelled.

"Ya Scott, you miss me?".

I couldn't even respond to that, I couldn't do anything other than stand there and quiver with disbelief. It was Liam! How was he even alive?

"I never died Scott, I was here the entire time".

I couldn't believe it, all this time I thought he was dead, and coming into this mission all I thought about was revenge, but he was here the entire time!

"But there was even an article, made a year ago confirming your death! And Graham, he told me Kylo killed you!" I yelled.

"They thought I died, how would Graham know anyways? But come on. Did you think I would die that easily?" Liam asked.

"Damn, I can't believe it. I've been having nightmares, seeing you die, over and over again. But you're here, alive. No wonder Tim kept reminding me of you".

Honestly, I didn't even know how to react to everything, so I did what I always did with Liam. I formed a tight fist, squeezing my knuckles till it felt like they were breaking, and I stuck it out. Liam laughed and pushed his fist against mine, like he used to.

"Just like old times huh" Liam said. I smiled.

"Ya, just like old times".

Seeing Liam again, it felt good. And in that moment, I was nothing but relieved. If only that would last longer.

"Scott, did Graham send you here because of Kylo?".

"Ya, he suspected Kylo was planning something big and well, he was right. Kylo is gonna do something the day the mayor gives his speech, that's tomorrow! And the power supply is somehow related to that as well".

"Don't worry, I have an idea, we can figure out what's going on. Trust me".
