"More walking?" Knox groaned.
Lucina scowled as she looked at Knox, "Didn't you and Crynn live in an apocalyptic world without vehicles?"
"That was different."
"How?"
"We didn't have to walk every day."
"You didn't have to walk yesterday. You haven't had to walk at all since we got here. Three whole days."
Nathaniel shrugged slightly, "There's no reason why we all have to go together, Lucina."
"And how do you suggest I perform miracles on my own? I'm a runecaster, not a healer."
"Not everyone doesn't mean I'm saying to go alone. Ziazan can heal people, right Ziazan?"
Ziazan nodded, "I can also make them sick. I just need something to work with as a base. Something liquid preferably."
"Great. And Jarek can resurrect people."
"Only if they've died within the last 72 hours. The sooner the better. And Ziazan would need to heal any damage the body has so the soul doesn't reject it."
"And both of you don't need to have any physical contact with them to do this."
"Technically no, but it's a lot easier to."
Zaizan tilted his hand from side to side. "Don't have to touch them to heal them, but I can't alter atoms without touching them. I could poison something they ate or drank."
Andrew blinked, "You can... alter atoms?"
"I'm an elementalist, its just one of many things I can do. It is easier to change multiple atoms instead of just one particular one."
"Isn't that a lot of work?"
"A bit, but I don't have to manually move subatomic particles around. That normally happens without me thinking about it. I just have to know exactly what I have and what I want it to be."
"You could turn straw to gold."
"...Yes, but it'd be much easier to turn another metal into gold or turn straw into something else organic. The more different they are the harder it is for me to alter it."
"And Jarek can bring back the dead?"
Jarek smiled, "I'm a necromancer. I can put a soul back in a body, but I can't heal the body. If a body is too damaged the soul will just leave again."
"Do... all of you have different abilities?"
Nathaniel nodded.
Knox grinned, "Me and Crynn are telekinetic! I can walk through walls!"
Crynn nodded, "I could walk on water. Or air, if I really wanted to."
Nathaniel's mouth quirked, "Crynn compresses, Knox expels."
"And what about you?"
Nathaniel grinned, "I'm a shapeshifter. I can be whatever or whoever I want to be."
Andrew eventually nodded.
"What about you?"
Andrew looked up at Lucina. "What?"
"What did Celaena give you?"
"...You don't know?"
"Celaena gives the option to us if we wish to share what we can or can't do. She hasn't told us anything."
"Oh..." Andrew grimaced, "I'm not sure exactly."
"What did she tell you?"
"I'll know if someone is lying, I can touch people's minds, and I have clairvoyance."
Nathaniel snorted. "Telepathy. You have telepathy, Andrew."
"...What?"
Lucina sighed. "You can read people's thoughts, see what's going on in their head. And you can see their memories, too. You could know someone better than they know themselves after shaking their hand."
"That feels invasive."
Jarek nodded, "It is."
Lucina hummed, "Useful, though."
"I don't know how to use it."
"Unfortunately, magic doesn't come with a manual." Nathaniel shrugged. "I'm certain you'll figure it out eventually."
