It was a foggy Halloween night; Rosa and Ryan were trick-or-treating. They went door to door collecting candy the majority of the night. As they were walking along the moonlit pavement, they arrived at their next house. It was a big house; around two stories. It was old and shabby and as a matter of fact, it was spooky.
Rosa was the first to speak as they approached the house, “are you sure we should go to this house,” she said in a rather worried voice, “it’s really spooky. And what if it’s haunted!”
“Don’t be a cry baby Rosa, besides, the more candy the merrier,” Ryan remarked.
“Fine, I’ll go with you Ryan,” Rosa said with a hint a worry in her voice.
They then continued walking toward the house. When walking up the wooden steps of the house they creaked. Which resulted in Rosa shrieking in fear. But they still continued.
Ryan knocked on the door. No response. He knocked again. Still no response. He finally decided to just open the door to which Rosa protested to at first. Ryan tried to open the door which to his surprise was not locked. They entered the old home. It smelled badly of must and everything was coated in a thick layer of dust.
“See it’s not scary or haunted. It’s just old and musty,” Ryan announced to Rosa. “Cmon, lets explore it more.”
“Okay,” Rosa responded in a sad tone.
They went room to room exploring the old house. Until finally they arrived at the basement. Ryan started to open the door when Rosa said. “Wait! Maybe we shouldn’t go down there it’s a basement and basements are always creepy.”
“I don’t care what you say. If your not gonna go I’m just going to go down there without you.” Ryan protested. He then opened the basement door and started to go down the steps.
“Wait don’t leave me by myself,” Rosa yelled as she stared down the steps after Ryan.
