I dashed right to dodge the charging bear on all fours and spun my heels to keep the bear in sight, as not seeing its movement would be fatal on my part. It looked back at me with a tinge of annoyance.
"ROARRR!!!" It roared as it stood in its feet like a bipedal being and tried to swipe me using its long claws. Closing the distance would instead have its palm hit me as how it happened to Kayla, but even that was dangerous as its claws were still there.
I dodged backward and distanced myself to try to control my haggard breathing.
This body was that of a child. Sure this body is energetic, but it lacks stamina and strength. Meaning, I would have to compensate with the observation and knowledge I have from my previous world.
Before I could fully control my breathing, the Chimera was already charging on me with its jaw looking like a blood-thirsty abomination. Fear erupted within me, but this was the opportunity that I needed.
Holding my stick firmly, I timed my dodge and plunged my stick in its eye. Using the force of the chimera's charge, I did not have to exert a heavy amount of power in my plunge.
However, I realized that dodging sideways would be dangerous as the chimera's force may break the arm I used to plunge the stick if I'm even a second slow. Instead, I relaxed my body as I spun back to neutralize the force of the charge.
This act, however, didn't go accordingly as planned as it seems that I overestimated the capabilities of a child. I distanced myself from the bear trying to calm my breathing while my left hand, holding my dislocated right shoulder.
"ROAAARRRRRRRRR!!!!!" Blood spilled from its ruptured eyeball, as my stick stayed firm within its eye socket. The bear must have felt torturous pain as roared in agony and fury.
I could feel the tip of my lips curl upwards as my planning bore fruit, However, It still wasn't enough. Even though I successfully blinded one of its eyes, it still had another. Which means that it can still chase us even after we retreat.
I also had no more equipment as my stick was still stuck in its eye and my right arm was out of commission.'This is bad,' I thought to myself while still trying to think of a way to handle this situation.
I looked at my surroundings to try and find another stick, or anything I could use to do the same with its other eye, however, that was a mistake on my part as it was in that moment that the bear charged itself on my defenseless state, knocking me back a few meters away from where I previously stood and into a base of a tree.
My back screamed in pain and my innards felt shook from the impact. "Damn... it..!" I tried to curse, but my body wouldn't even allow such words to come out of my mouth as even my breathing was disordered.
I thought of what to do as the Chimera slowly made its way to me, almost like it was rubbing its triumph over me in my face. This act irritated me, but my body was unable to comply with my instructions leaving me in a defenseless state. Then, as I waited for my impending demise, I tried to recall anything that would help me in this situation.
But there was nothing. To transfer to another world, and die in the same world without even accomplishing anything in a single day was like reality was telling me that I was a mistake.
This thought, along with the bear's domineering attitude, gave me a clash of emotions between anger and fear for my life. Then suddenly, I felt a tingly feeling in my heart.
The sort of feeling described in the books from White's memories as to when awakening happens. Feeling the sliver of hope that came along with my awakening, I tried and use my magic against the beast before me.
However, my hope was cut short as I realized that I don't even know what my magic is, furthermore how to activate it. A hope that disappeared as fast as it came, furthermore drove me in a state of rage.
I was angry at everything.
Redirecting that anger to my body, my fist started blazing blue. I slowly stood up to face the 2-meter bear-like chimera beast. Its face, which looked triumphant a few moments ago, was now stained with an obvious ferocity as if he saw a threat.
Blinded by my body's exhaustion and my own emotions, I was not aware of the changes my body is exhibiting and all that I could think of was to not be prey to the beast in front of me. Even if it's just this once, I wanted to actually overturn my fate over reality.
Steeling myself for the inevitable, I directed my emotions into strength and roared ferociously as I punched the chest of the Chimera.
That beast, out of its dominance, just stood there and accepted my strike. My vision dimmed before I could realize that from where I punched the beast, a cold, yet burning sensation was the only thing I felt. Until I collapsed under the immense burden placed on my body.

(A few minutes earlier)
"ROARRRRRRRR!!!!" The sound of a thunderous roar echoed in the forest.
"Hmm? It looks like a beast is on a rampage." the old man said, "this might be bad... Alright! Sophia! go and check on White and see if everything's all right."
Sophia who was currently cleaning in the kitchen responded, "Acknowledged. I suggest you remain here just in case," she replied.
"Just hurry up and go!" the old man says impatiently while huffing. To the old man, White was more important than his own life. Of course, he loves his grandchild, but more than that, White is his son's final legacy.
Sophia quickly set off to the forest without even changing from her maid outfit. Using the thunderous roars of the beast, she was able to quickly pinpoint the area where it was coming from.
Arriving at the scene, a tattered child with his fist connected to the chest of a giant chimeric bear that could rip the said child apart, yet the child shows no sign of despair against the foe in front of him.
Probably because of his exhausted state, the child collapsed whilst standing, snapping Sophia back to her purpose. her hand glowed indigo as she imbued mana in it, forming a blade out of mana before rushing towards the bear in an attempt to assault it. However-
"What?" she stopped in her tracks as she realized that the beast was frozen in place. It wasn't encased in ice, nor was it chained in place. It was just frozen in place like a statue.
Confusing as it may, Sophia prioritized her orders and quickly approached the child without lowering her guard towards the bear so that she could tend to his needs. This child was, of course, White.
But something caught her attention in the chest of the beast— something that should not have existed.
