I'm warm and comfortable. I take a deep breath.
'My pillow smells so good.' It makes me smile as my eyes flutter open.
"Good morning." Bav's eyes meet my own.
Blushing, I move my head back into the pillow and realize there's no give.
'That's not my pillow! It's his chest!'
Since I'm already there, I mumble, "Good morning."
"Is the light too bright still?" He asks me, running his hand across my shoulders, holding me gently.
'No, it's you who is shining me into hiding, sir.' I think to myself but nod in agreement anyway.
"What time is it?" I ask him, my mind becoming clearer from the sleep induced fog.
"Quarter to six in the morning."
Groaning, I move a little to get comfortable again, wrapping an arm around his waist. "I still get to sleep for fifteen more minutes." I mutter out, when the fog completely disappears and I realize what sort of position I'm in with Bav.
"AH!" Gasping, I sit up, clasping my hands to my cheeks, and see that I am under the blankets, while he sits on top of them.
"Rakara, what ever is the matter?" Bav asks, taking in my startled state.
"How do I explain to Elaine and Etty? I can't let you leave by the front door or the back! The neighbors will see! OH! I will be labeled a wanton woman! My reputation will be ruined!" I ramble on before Bav catches my hands in his making me look at him.
"Kara, calm down. I can snap my self home. No one will know I stayed the night. Your reputation will remain the same, just breath."
He repeats that I should just breath a few times and I quickly calm myself. "Apologies, I forgot. I'd offer to make you breakfast, but I only have an hour before the girls start showing up to help start baking for the day." I can't help but send Bav a light frown, knowing I was about to ask him to leave. He was even more attractive in the morning I realized, with his tousled hair and eyes still heavy from sleep.
"That's quite alright, I understand you have to get to work." He leaves the bed and retrieves his boots and coat, as I watch entranced and internally beating myself up for having to make him go.
He comes back to the bed and lowers his face to mine, "I shall see you for tea time?"
"Yes, of course." I murmur, feeling the heat rise in my cheeks.
"Good." He gives me a soft kiss on my head. "I shall see you later."
"Yes." Is all I can muster out as I am made stupid, once again, by his dazzling smile. He was gone with with a flick of his fingers, making me sigh and sink back into my pillows.
'He kissed me!' I giggle at my thoughts in my mind. The memories of last night came flashing through my head, making me blush and fidget.
"Get up and move!" I tell my self as my legs start to feel restless and twitch. The entire time I am getting ready, I am having to smack my self to focus. The smile was still plastered on my face as I began baking down stairs before the girls arrived.
"Rakara!" I heard them calling me in unison as they came through the back door, smiling with curious, sparkling eyes.
"So...How did your evening go? Tell us everything!" Elaine gushed as she leaned against the table, her cheery disposition now even more alive with curiosity.
As we prepared for the day, I told them all about the play and food, I even told them about Mrs. Porter and her little show. I kept the rest of the night, to myself though.
The day went on like any other until after the lunch rush, in which I was patiently waiting, glancing at the clock every so often, for someone to arrive. The rush came and went, then tea time, then it was over.
'He didn't come.'
The girls helped me clean up before heading home, noticing the change in my demeanor. As I escorted them out the door, Etty held back.
"He probably got tangled up in affairs at work. You said it yourself that the officials dragged him into discussions last night. That was at a party. Don't fret love." She said rubbing my arm before I smiled at her.
"You are right, Etty. I'll not fret." I shut the door and lock it, and pull my feet up the stairs to start making myself supper.
'I told Etty I wouldn't fret, but he said he would be here today. Plus he was so intimate with me last night. I'm such a fool!'
Opening up my apartment door, I'm shocked by a large vase of gorgeous flowers sitting on my little dining table. I go to look at the beautiful white and orange lilies and take a deep inhale of their scent.
"Lovely!" Excited I open my eyes to see a note.
-Kara,
I'm sorry I was unable to make it to our tea time, I had to feign needing the lavatory to get these and snap them to you. I've been swamped since I arrived, paperwork and contracts that have needed a careful eye to go over them before signing. I want to make it up to you, tonight. So when you're done with the days business in the shop, please contact me at the address below.
I look forward to hearing your voice.
Bav.-
'I'm such a fool. Etty was right.' Mentally smacking my hand, my heavy heart turns light and fluttery again. I go freshen up a bit before I give the address a ring.
A bored sounding male answers the ring, "Hello? Who is calling?"
"Hello, I'm Ms. Langridge. I'm calling for Mr. Fairchild. Is he in?" I ask politely.
"Apologies, he just left for the day. Good-Bye."
"Good..."
*CLICK* The sound of the ringer being hung up made me stare at my end.
"How rude." I hang up the phone and hang my head.
'Well what was the point of giving me the location if you were not going to be there?' I think to myself and go to start dinner, only to have my door bell start jingling.
'Whoever could that be?'
I make my way down the stairs as the jingle of the bell starts to wind down.
"I'm coming!" I yell out hoping they will have heard me.
I hurry to the door, speak as I open it, "Hello? I'm sorry but my shop is closed ....."
"Good thing I am not here for anything in the shop, well other than you."
"Mr. Wheelwright, what is it that you want with me?" I cross my arms and keep my door only open with a few inch gap.
"I wanted to talk with you, I wasn't able to the other day. I have a business proposition for you. May I come in?" He says, too earnestly for my liking.
"Come back during my business hours, Mr. Wheelwright. It's been a long day and I am tired." I go to shut my door and Mr. Wheelwright catches it, slamming it open.
The door catches me and I'm sent back onto the floor as Mr. Wheelwright stomps in and closes the door, latching it tight.
"Now Ms. Langridge. Not later." He menacingly stalks toward me, making me scoot backwards.
"Mr. Wheelwright! What is the meaning of this?!" I scuttle back until I hit the wall and stand up quickly.
Bellowing at me as he moves closer, Mr. Wheelwrights looms over me casting shadows across his face, making him look sinister.
"HOW DARE YOU REFUSE ME AND ACCEPT ANOTHER MANS AFFECTION! HE'S NOT EVEN A MAN! HE'S A FAE!"
"Is that it?! That is what all this is about Mr. Wheelwright?!" Now, I am mad. I start to walk towards him as I start.
"I'M NOT YOUR PROPERTY MR. WHEELWRIGHT! I will see WHOEVER I PLEASE. If you have a problem with it, IT IS YOUR PROBLEM!"
"You're a brave one aren't ya? That's fine, I like it when you all fight back." He chuckles, evil in his eyes, before...
*WHACK*
I'm seeing stars as I hit the ground and lose my breath as Mr. Wheelwrights body comes down on top of mine.
Groaning, I try to push him off, but I'm still too dazed to focus. His sick twisted laughter feels my ears as he tears at my bodice and begins to touch and taste my body.
"No!" I yell pushing him away, giving my surroundings a quick glance to see if there's anything I can use. Instinctively, I grab the rim of the table and pull it over with all my might, slamming it into his back. I scramble to get on my hands and knees, only to have my legs pulled out from under me, my nose hitting the floor boards hard. The coppery scent of warm blood invades my nose as blood gushes out. I'm kicking desperately as Mr Wheelwright begins hiking up my skirt.
"NO!" I scream, turning and beating him with everything I've got. He lets go and I'm up on my feet running for the back door, only to a chair come flying at me, knocking me against the teapot display with a thud and tinkling of porcelain teapots breaking. I'm immediately trying to stay standing holding the shelves, when another chair is swung at me like a club. I ducked, and porcelain shatters all over me, as I run for the door. I grab my clockwork dagger as I pass the table, and immediately see black as something contacts with my head.
I'm awakened by pain, my head is aching and someone is shuffling under my skirts. Immediately I begin to fight back.
"GET OFF OF ME!" I shout taking my clockwork dagger and shoving it into Mr Wheelwrights back.
"YOU BITCH!" He stands up and roars back handing me across the floor. I reach for anything to defend myself and grab a whisk.
"HAHAHA! What are you going to do with that?! HA! That sweet ass of yours is going to be mine!" He lunges forward and I try to move out of the way, but he's on top of me, my skirts being torn and my underwear ripped away.
"NO! PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME! NO!" I scream at the top of my lungs. Hot tears flowing as I scream, trying to fend him off, not giving up even as use the whisk's end to ram it into his eyes.
He spreads my legs, even as I fight him off, kicking with everything I have, when a vacuum occurs sucking him off of me.
I scramble to my feet, immediately grabbing the cutting knife and almost drop it in shock. A dark swirling mass of shadows and rearranging faces were holding Mr Wheelwright up high against the wall. I could barely make out a hand clutching Mr Wheelwrights throat. The entire room was filled with oppression, rage, and darkness.
Hot pearls of sweat fall from my brow, as terror fills my heart.
"HOW DARE YOU!" A familiar voice comes out from the dark swirling black cloud.
My heart stops, "Bav?!"
