Knox leaned out of the window, "Are you sure someone's coming?"
Nathaniel nodded, frowning as he tousled his hair in the mirror. Dark brown curls brightened and straightened to a ginger blond and he smiled, "The queen seemed intrigued when one of the midwives suggested that a daughter of Eirlys might be able to save her children."
Lucina paused, "Children? As is more than one?"
"She had twins." Nathaniel shrugged, "They didn't need me though. One of them was stillborn and the other died a couple minutes after birth. I don't think it could breathe properly, never cried."
"Are you sure it was alive then?"
"Dead bodies don't wriggle like worms."
"Oh! Maybe that's him! He's dressed fancy." Knox pointed outside.
Jarek looked over Knox's head, "He's kinda short, isn't he?"
Knox looked up at Jarek, "Is there a problem with being short?"
"No, of course not. I've just never seen a short Vesian before. I thought they were all tall."
"...Or you just have a thing for tall guys."
Jarek hummed "Both." Jarek glanced back at Zaizon, tilting his head from side to side before looking back outside. "Definitely both."
Knox snorted, rolling his eyes. He perked up, "Oh! He's coming inside. This is it, everyone, look casual!"
Lucina stood up, "No need. Zaizon, Jarek, and I will go down to meet him."
"How do you explain why they're with you?"
"Simple, they're my bodyguards."
"Zaizon dresses too well to be a bodyguard."
"He's a bodyguard with fashion sense."
Jarek clicked his tongue, "I don't know if I should be offended or not."
"Let's go. You can be offended later." Lucina was the first out the door, and Zaizon and Jarek followed. Crynn lifted her head off the pillow without opening her eyes, "Are they gone?"
"For the time being."
"Great." Crynn plopped her head back down and shifted over onto her side.
"Wouldn't you be more comfortable with a blanket?"
"Are you offering to get me one?"
"No."
"Then, no, I wouldn't be more comfortable with a blanket."
Knox looked at Crynn, "You're a lazy bum."
Crynn opened her eyes and threw a pillow at him. Knox knocked it away, "I'm a ninja, you can't touch me."
"You're not a ninja."
"Samurai."
"You're a pain in the ass."
"Calm down, children. There's no need to bicker." Nathaniel plopped down in the chair Zaizon had been sitting in.
"We're not children."
Nathaniel rested his head against the back of the chair. "You act like children, and while it is endearing at times, I haven't slept since I helped deliver two infants and I'd really like to change that. So please, for your sake and mine, shut up."
