Maybe a week has passed. I wouldn’t know. It’s hard as balls to keep track of time.

We’ve been spending time with Daisy and Bella, and it’s been so epic! Fuck- I dunno, I just love having more friends to hang with.

Like, Nathan doesn’t talk much, and I understand that—that’s just how they are—but we don’t really have conversations. I just kinda sleep, or read whatever they’re reading and get better at talking fancy. Seems I’m not all too interested in this narrator shit anymore though. The silence is nice, comfortable.

But it’s really cool to talk with people and hear all these cool stories about them and shit.

Nathan’s still tryna figure out what the fuck that metal thingy they found is supposed to do. I dunno why but it seems kinda familiar. That’s cool.

Nathan and Jacob were in the storeroom, waiting for the others to show up.

“Hey guys!” Bella pops up from behind a stack of boxes, Daisy following. Jacob startles and holds back a yelp.

Nathan laughs quietly. The group settle down into their usual bicker and banter, just enjoying each other’s company. It’s nice.

“Whatcha got there, Nathan?” Daisy asks. They’re referring to the metal thing in his hands. Nathan shrugs nonchalantly and continues to fiddle with it. 

Daisy stalks over and squats down in front of him, studying it curiously.

“You know what it is?” They tilt their head, trying to see it better, before looking up for Nathan’s answer.

Nathan shakes his head.

Daisy thinks for a moment before speaking again, “I wanna take it home with me. Take a look at it. Can I borrow it?”

Nathan stares, obviously hesitant.

“Please? Please, please, please? I’m trustworthy! I’ll bring it back, I promise!” They beg, their stare pleading. “I’m just going to take it home, try and figure out what it is.”

His stare continues, suspicious and reluctant. He considers it for a few moments longer before relenting, carefully placing the item into the other’s open palms.

Daisy perks up, eyes bright. “Really?!”

Nathan nods. He trusted Daisy, he did, but it wasn’t certain they would return it in one piece.

“Thank you!! I’ll bring it back, I promise.”

As if on cue, there was the bell.

Daisy flicked their head in the direction of the sound. Bella was already opening the storeroom’s door. Daisy got to their feet and waved at them, “Later!” The door shuts behind them with a click.
