It was a usually calm, and quiet afternoon in the Romanian countryside, with the local wildlife, undisturbed by human presence, playing their role in the ecosystem. This included a male rabbit eagerly graving its hunger with little amount of grass underneath the fields of snow. Fortunately, the grass was just enough for the little brown rabbit.

   But, unaware of the danger, a wolf watched the rabbit from a distance, with its head lowered from sight, looking for the right moment to strike. With only a minute chance to leap to safety, the rabbit soon met its fate with the wolf’s teeth choking its prey.

   Usually, a predator would either eat its prey on the spot or drag it back to its family or pack. However, the wolf, with the dead rabbit still in its mouth, made its way to an ancient ruin, and passed through a crack on one of its walls to enter.

   The wolf continued till it stopped at what appeared to be the center of a castle hall. It then lowered its head to release the rabbit over a metallic ancient symbol engraved into the marble floor. Shortly, four other wolves came out of the darkness to join the main wolf, and gathered around the symbol. Each of them took a keen interest in the dead rabbit before them.

   “This will suffice,” said one of the wolves. “But, as he gets stronger, he will need a larger sacrifice till he is fully restored.”

   “I’m aware of that,” said the main wolf. “It won’t be till the end of winter. Before then, we already know a fitting sacrifice for His Highness.”

   “And when the time comes, how do we acquire the vampiress’ blood?” asked another wolf.

   “We’ll think of something,” the main wolf answered.

   Suddenly, a dark cloud burst underneath the rabbit and spread till the entire symbol, the rabbit, and then the wolves were completely covered. As it cleared, the rabbit, and all the wolves vanished, leaving behind an empty dark hall.
