Silence.
Trevor was silent, speaking only when needed, for almost two days straight. Not because he was angry. Trevor was far from angry. He felt guilty because he left the woman that he loved when she needed him the most. He had not been thinking straight.
Of course, starting a family with her had always fleetingly passed through his mind. He’d always thought about how good of a mother she’d make. How she’d always try her best to spend all of her free time with their children. She’d probably give them cute names like Daisy and Langa. She’d be a great mother and loyal wife too.
That much he knew. He knew how much she loved him and how much she would love their children.
He messed up. He allowed his emotions to control him too much. He had been scared and shocked. His brain was bound to screw up.
He was on a plane back to Johannesburg from Cape Town. He had signed a deal with a clothing brand, but even that did not manage to bring his smile back. He just wanted to see her and apologise for his stupidity.
He was not brave enough to call. He couldn’t when as soon as he left her flat after fighting he got on a plane and went to Cape Town. He stared at the horizon, wondering what she was doing, how she was doing. She wouldn’t screen his calls. That much he knew. She wasn’t the type of person to hold grudges. But he wanted to be in front of her when he apologised. He broke her heart in front of her. It only made sense that way.
He couldn’t buy flowers anymore. No chocolates either. What would he even say?
“Trevor!” Melusi called out his name. He looked at him, depression clear on his features. “I know I’ve asked this before, but do you need anything? You don’t look okay.”
“I don’t.” He sadly smiled.
“You haven’t had a proper meal the whole weekend. This is not healthy man.”
“I’m not hungry.” He looked back outside the window, shutting his eyes. He did not want to talk to anyone for a while.
“What happened when you visited Sobahle?”
“I screwed up,” Trevor replied, awaiting sleep to hold his hand and jump with him into a cold dreamless abyss.
He had really screwed up that time.

No time for rest.
The abyss wasn’t dreamless. Trevor woke up in a fright after seeing Sobahle suffering and alone. It had only been a dream, but it broke his heart to see her handling everything alone when he could be by her side.
He was the first one to leave the plane when it landed. Making sure to tell Melusi that he would be back before their next appointment.
It was very climactic, he had to admit. After the revelation that he couldn’t live without her, he was running to her from the airport.
He stopped a taxi and asked the driver to go to her apartment building. He would do it right. She wouldn’t be alone. He would be by her side. If his fans cared about him, they will be happy for him. He was still the same Trevor Nkomo that they loved and supported.
The elevator was taking too long and so he went up the stairs. When he got to the third floor, the elevator was open and he took the chance and jumped in, breathing a sigh of relief as it took him up the next five remaining floors.
He knocked on her door. Hoping that she was inside. He had a key, but felt it wouldn’t be appropriate to go in when he left on such a negative note last time.
He wanted to call out her name, but he knew he would only be asking for unwanted attention. He was about to knock again, but heard glass breaking and a thud instead.
What was happening?
