I didn't like it much.

I thought that it was lame,

Why waste my time with such?

But then I met a player,

But then I met my match,

They told me say my prayers,

They'd throw and I would catch.

The game soon left me breathless,

But not of my accord,

They would make me say less,

As we danced on the chessboard.

As a king to a queen,

And a church to its throne,

Both points are seen,

Or one's overthrown.

So a team is proposed,

We both make a truce,

When both juxtaposed,

There is no excuse.

A smile on my face,

We stand side by side,

When we play this game, 

Our goals coincide.

And when at the end, 

Once more we play,

They call me a friend,

I may have been swayed.

They bid me farewell,

I bid them goodnight,

But game no longer hell,

Instead quite the delight.
