They couldn’t see a single thing because it was so dark. Ryan decided to get his phone out to look around. He shone his phone’s flashlight around; to his disappointment the basement was mostly full of boxes with junk in them.
As Ryan looked around Rosa decided to as well. While looking around she felt something weird under her one of her feet. She kneeled down to see what it was; she found a trapdoor.
She told Ryan what she found and they decided to open it to see where it led to. They opened it and went down an old rickety ladder. They ended up in a small room with what looked like an old chest of some sort.
Ryan being the braver and bolder of the two was the one to open the chest. In the chest were two things. The first was what looked like a human skeleton and the second thing was an old book.
They grabbed the book scared yet intrigued to see what was in it. They opened the old book bounded together with leather. Written in elegant cursive what was seemed to be nonsense. Only few words were understood by the two of them.
The nonsensical words seemed to be some sort of collection of spells. Written on one page was “awaken el skelon” followed by mostly the nonsensical words. The children being not being the wisest spoke the words that followed out loud.
Suddenly the skeleton which they had left in the chest started to shake. The shaking got progressively worse until the skeleton slowly started to stand up. It then started to walk towards the children; speaking the nonsense words as it did.
As you can imagine, Rosa and Ryan were absolutely terrified. They climbed up the ladder as fast as they could. Rosa screaming at Ryan the whole time about how she was right about the basement. While Ryan screaming back about how it wasn’t the time to talk about that.
They bolted up the stairs and left the house running like their lives depended on it. By now it was around two o’clock in the morning. As their home came into view they noticed that there was police cars parked nearby. They then realized they were probably gone for hours and their parents were probably worried sick
