We stood on the hill, overlooking the farmland below. Despite the wheat fields being dead quiet, aside from the rustling of the crops in the wind, my two friends and I knew what lie in wait. In the distance, a small purple puff of smoke spread the wheat just enough to catch my eyes.
“There’s the spawn,” I said.
To my left, Suzuha Redtail sighed, “Why are we here again?”
Without looking at her, I answered, “Because we promised Lucky that we would help him get this Halloween mask transmog item.”
Kory’s fox ear twitched in agitation, “Again, I ask. Why are we here again? I’m tired of grinding out these level twenty mobs. We’re level fifty for God’s sake! FeelinLucky has enough money to buy it off the market board!
“And due to it being a timed item, it’s hella expensive. We’re lucky that we found this hidden spawn or it would take even longer.”
Suzuha pouted, her fluffy, red tail swished in my face, “Fine, just make it quick.”
The Kitsune stood at her full height. Her pink kimono accented her red hair perfectly. Despite being max level, Suzuha, or any Kitsune for that matter, had yet to grow any more tails. Six of them extended from her lower back, signaling her spellcasting nature. With a full-body twist, Suzuha swung an instrument into her hands. A beautifully crafted electric guitar of a similar amber color to her eyes rested perfectly in her well-manicured hands.
With a single strum, Suzuha released a power chord that rang through the valley. I, on the other hand, saw her magical buff take effect. At the top of my screen, a little blue clock with a fifteen-second count down appeared. Time slowed down around me, but to everyone else, I was moving at a light speed. Dashing down the hillside, my perpetually messy blond hair flapped in response to the wind. Wrapped around my fists were my signature weapon, the oversized gauntlets, Silver Tiger. Before the scarecrow even had a chance to aggro, my fist connected with its straw hid. I followed up with a Rising Dragon skill, launching the mob into the air with a flurry of kicks. As the last strike in the animation landed, the monster exploded in a few gold coins and a small brown sack.
“Is that it?” Suzuha yelled from above.
I reached down to put the sack in my inventory. Examining the item, it was indeed the transmogrifed item that FeelinLucky was looking for. I dashed back to our resting spot.
“He’s not back yet?”
Suzuha sheathed her instrument and emoted with her hands on her hips, “No! I say we sell the mask and make him grind it himself.”
I returned with an emote of my own by pinching the bridge of my nose, “Suzuha, we promised we’d help.”
In the chatbox, bright orange text appeared, “I’m almost there!”
Next to the phrase was the name FeelinLucky, signaling our friend was back in the area. Bounding over the hill was a human with scruffy black hair and even blacker robes trimmed in a sickly green. Hanging from his side was a thick book made of bones and dark leather.
“Told you I’d be back,” FeelinLucky replied.
