The kid was a boy. He kept right on laughing until Jen shook him hard and told him to stop.
"Oh fine, I'm sorry. Truce?" he said, holding out his hand for Jen and Sarah to shake. Jen shook it and Sarah did too, but when it was Sarah's turn, she screamed. "He - he - HE BURNED ME!" Sarah said, blowing at her hand. The boy laughed again. Jen was really confused now.
"Look," the boy said. "I was given a special power called pyrokinesis, which means I can control fire. And only four people in this entire world have a different power: pyrokinesis, hydrokinesis, aerokinesis and geokinesis. Do you have any of them? Pretty doubtful."
Jen's mind flashed back to the time when she was in the toilet. "As a matter of fact, yes I do," she replied as-a-matter-of-factly. The boy just looked at her. "Whatever."
Why does no one take me seriously? thought Jen. Ugh. "So anyways, Mr Mysterious, what's your name?" she asked, to which she was replied, "Alex Anchorton." Jen managed to keep a straight face while introducing herself and Sarah, who was still blowing at her hand. Again, she went to the fountain and showed Alex what she could do. Alex showed no sign of being impressed. A mere "pffffffft, I can do that too" and a flick of his head sent him walking back into the forest.
