At that very moment, the soldier looked to see the cause of what had caused the noise. He had ordered the other men to check it out. Still, my father would not let this chance slip past him. He then grabbed the pitchfork whacked it across the soldier's helmet, knocking the soldier to the ground before he empaled him the neck with the fork end of the pitchfork the other four had drawn their swords. In contrast, Father only had the pitchfork. They started to surround him slowly, but father kept taking steps back to avoid being trapped with nowhere left to go.
Come on, yeh bastards! If you think I will go down easy, then you are surely mistaken! Come on! who wants to meet death first!
He shouted with ferocity as if to cover up the great fear he was feeling inside. Father was lucky he was able to get the first man by surprise, but in the end, though four vs. one are not impossible odds. Still, to take down four soldiers all trained in swordplay and combat, he knew he would surely lose. Still, before that, he would at least take one or two of them with him that way even if with his death, they would most likely leave to bring more of their corrupt comrades to take all the food and livestock in that time his children could get away.
You just killed a soldier of the king's army, old man. Such a crime is punishable by death.
He said with a malicious smile across his face as he lunged towards father, arm raised to swing his sword, but the man had forgotten one thing. Pitchforks had range before the man could take another step. Father shoved the fork into his gut the moment after; however, the second soldier came at him. Still, father expected it. He mustered all his strength to pull and move the impaled soldier. That was barely clinging to life, yet still on his feet over to the incoming assailant. Pushing him back with the force of a man raging for survival and making the man stumble and fall next to the bushes. And the dead man slid off the fork and onto the dirt, sadly even in death, Father would come to regret that decision. as the solder regained his composure, he looked to the side and saw a little girl in a ragged tunic.
Aaah!
she shrieked in fear as she then tried to get up and flee
ooooh no, you don't, he said
As nailla tried to get away, shrieking in fear, but it was of no avail, he grabbed her on the heel of her foot. She tried to fight back, kicking and hitting and squirming and screaming as much as she could, but the man had armored plating only, so few did any good. He pulled her in little by little until he had her by the hair. Finally, he stood up, pulling her up by her hair.
That's enough! Lay down your weapon, or ill remove her head from her shoulders!
The soldier said as he put his sword to my sister's throat. At that very moment, I could feel my heart drop to the pits of my stomach. When father had seen what had happened, absolute horror could be seen in his eyes as all his fighting spirit vanished into the wind, and he dropped his weapon in utter defeat. The two men then proceeded to kick him down to the dirt, kicking and stomping on him without mercy even while nailla cried out for her father in tears until one of the soldiers finally picked him up, only for the third one to strike him repeatedly.
all you had to was give us the animals *strike* was that so hard *strike* now were going to kill you *strike* and your daughter *strike*
he finally stopped as he then put the tip of his sword to my father's throat and looked toward our house
Suppose anyone else is in there! You have ten seconds before I feed these two to the worms! One! Two!
What was I to do if I stepped outside? I would surely die even if I tried to fight. There's no way I could kill them before their blades reached them, but they will kill us anyway if I go out. It's like no matter what I choose, there's no correct answer as I began to succumb to my cowardice and hopelessness, an idea and struck my mind. I saw a knife small knife. It was a little blunt but sharp enough to cut the skin with a reasonable force applied. This was the only chance I had to turn the tables, was the assumption was that the others would want the third man alive enough not to kill my own. But, of course, this would only work if I could catch him off guard.
One!
it's now, or never, I mustered all the courage I had in my soul, and I grabbed the table knife and put it into my left pocket, and stepped outside with my hands up
Wait. Please don't hurt us. We will give you whatever you want. Just leave us be, I said
You hear that men, he will provide us with whatever we want
The third man said as he started walking towards me. Maybe this is my chance. As soon as he gets close enough and turns around, I'd reach for the knife in my pocket and put it to his neck, I thought, but then out of nowhere, he jabbed his knee into my gut with such force knocking all the wind out of my lungs as I fell to the curled up grabbing my belly gasping for air.
Gahhhh!
Your father murdered two of my men, two soldiers. So there's no way we can look the other way here.
As he said those words, I could feel a cold blackness swell inside. It was fear in its purest form.
Kill them both
NOOOO!
Nailla was the first to go as the soldier slit her throat, and blood gushed out while she joked on her blood and her lifeless body fell to the ground. I felt as if a part of me had died. Next, the other soldier stabbed my father with his sword, impaling him through the chest. Pulling the blade back out as my father's body hit the dirt, I could only weep and cry out in anguish. The despair I felt that day would haunt me forever. Then, the third man came up to me and lifted me off my knees by my throat.
I'll kill you! You hear me! I'll kill you!
No, no, you won't
He then stabbed me in my gut with a knife and dropped me to the ground.
