I was lucky that the cave didn’t have any inhabitants.
But I was also unlucky because the cave didn’t have any inhabitants. It was weird and suspicious.
The Howling Jungle had an abundance of monsters. One could even say that this was their breeding ground or their natural habitat. Even so, I hadn’t seen any monsters since that deer.
I climbed up the steep hill before I stood in front of the cave. Stalactites and stalagmites were already all over the place inside the cave. I walked in and felt the cold windy air caressing my skin. The entrance wasn’t that big and that hill wasn’t that tall to the point that I could see over the trees.
I checked the map again and was surprised when I noticed there was a small town right outside the border of the Howling Jungle. This was another new development.
A dumb person even understood how dangerous this forest was. But to build a town right next to it? That was suicidal.
I shook that thought before I scanned the cave again. I nodded. This was a great place for me to practice my powers and gain everything back. I was completely isolated and away from any human.
However, I still didn’t want to risk it.
A human settlement right next to an extremely dangerous forest was a major red flag that I couldn’t ignore. It meant that the town was built specifically for mercenaries and adventurers to visit regularly. If they visit the town all the time, it meant that they also explored the forest all the time.
The lack of monsters was a clear sign that I should be more careful. Perhaps, they were the ones that lowered the number of monsters in this forest to the point that they became extinct.
Plus, the Hero was moving around to kill every type of monster species now. I shuddered. I needed to do something fast.
I moved over to the entrance and stared at the trees growing around me. I opened the lid of the mini refrigerator before channeling mana to the ice so that they weren’t melted. I counted them and calculated that I only had five more days’ worth of food left.
With a deep breath, I stood up. I splayed my arms toward the trees and used “Rapid Growth” on them. The trees began to grow fast and I moved their growth over to me. Their branches grew to the point that they hid the entrance of the cave. I jumped from tree to tree, making sure that they kept growing and thicker until, at some point, I stopped.
I landed on the ground and did the same to the bushes and stray plants. I needed to make everything as inconspicuous as possible. Plants growing wildly weren’t a weird phenomenon. The forest itself was alive after all.
I just needed to make this illusion that the trees themselves were growing by themselves.
After making sure that it didn’t look that weird for the minds of people living in a fantasy world, I jumped up the trees again and skipped over to my cave’s entrance again. I arrived shortly and marveled at my hard work. However, this wasn’t the end.
I was a runaway Demon King that was resurrected against my own will. I was Kannech, who was defeated by Erazor. That man was clearly still roaming around. It was a death wish if I wasn’t being overly cautious.
I went inside the cave and turned around to face the entrance again.
“Time to close this up,” I said.
Conjuring up my Earth Element, I manipulated the spell “Stone Wall” and closed the entrance of the cave. However, I wasn’t dumb enough to make it shaped like a rectangular. I altered its shape so that it blended with the wall, creating this silhouette that a cave was never here in the first place.
After making it look natural, I realized how paranoid I was. I had to laugh at myself. But then, the laugh turned into rage toward the author.
He did this to me!
I didn’t know what the author’s motive was by making me a prisoner to this world. Sure, he said that I acted as an offering. Offering to what?
How did he even manage to teleport me to this world without me knowing? Why was I the perfect candidate for this? How long was that sequel?
All these unanswered questions would be the death of me. Instead of thinking about them further, I examined my skills. Time to re-learn and upgrade these abilities, I guess.
