Read The Fall of Peter :: Resistance

1. The tall and healthy young man, with his dark brown hair and eyes, turns off the TV, which was transmitting those words of Pope Francis.

2. He, then, looks to his followers with a little smile on his face. There were hundreds of men and women, even children, who believed that this man would be their new savior.

3. "Do you see, my friends? The fact that this man, consecrated as Supreme Pontiff of the catholic church, is reassuring the need to stay calm, and the lack of necessity to be afraid, is the ultimate proof that we've shaken their hearts!

4. Our Holy God's plan is going according to what he told me!"

Peter says in such a harmonious joy.

5. "I've conducted the hands of God through my carnal body, just so we could operate divine miracles. I had nothing... Nothing!!

6. And yet, those lost souls got terrified by the only thing I told them. The only thing that God, our Lord, told me to say to the whole world through the social media that is so influentional today...

7. I said: 'You are all lost. The spirit of God is disappointed with your ways to shamelessly sin and boldly ask for forgiveness right after. You are all lost, and I will be the prophet and scribe of the Lord who will purge this putrefied church!'

8. And then, after I told that, they all fell apart, not with fear, but with comprehension that God knew about their selfish and dirty vices."

Peter kept with his inspirational speech, as all the people agreed with positive onomatopoeia.

9. "When I got my first call, I was blinded by my own sins. I couldn't believe that our Savior would really choose me to be his prophet.

10. He, then, opened my mind and with one of Isaiah's words, I proclaimed:

The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me!"

11. The people cherished in jolliness. Peter kept preaching:

"Because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings to the poor!"

12. The men screamed in support. Peter kept preaching:

"He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted!"

13. The women extended their arms to the prophet. Peter kept preaching:

"To proclaim liberty to the captives!"

14. The children started praying, thanking the Lord for such a wise leader. Peter kept preaching:

"And the opening of the prison to those who are bound!!!"

15. And everybody clapped, whistling and cheering for the new servant and voice of the almighty God.

16. "And I say more, just like Isaiah told us: Instead of your shame you shall have double honor. And instead of confusion they shall rejoice in their portion.

17. Therefore in their land they shall possess double, and everlasting joy shall be theirs!!!"

Peter loudly preaches and their followers applaud one more time.

18. "People ask me all the time if I really read the whole bible to know all of those wise proverbs that were spoken through God's wisdom. And today, I will tell you the truth.

19. I didn't... Because I can't read!"

And just like that, the whole room where they were reunited became silent.

20. "When I became a follower of God, I tried to read a book, but I couldn't, I am uneducated. But, in the same day, the holy light of the Merciful Christ shined upon me, and then I could hear His words, loud and clear...

21. So, I heard God telling me about those chronicles, right? Wrong! I heard all the prophets and servants of God, with their words in weird languages. And miraculously, I understood every single one of them...

22. Noah, Jacob, Moses, Joshua, David, Elijah, and even Isaiah... That's how I know. Because God put in my ears what once came from their mouths!!"

23. And the followers screamed in joy, adoring God and thanking Him for sending a powerful message in Peter's hands. The people started the commemoration of the resistance with the best wine of all Rome.

24. As they all start to drink and talk with each other, Abate started to get along with them. Little did they know that Giuseppe Abate was a cardinal chosen by Pope Francis to be a spy on Peter's surroundings. He talks to Nina Esther, the closest person to Peter.

25. "Now, that was inspiring!"

Abate comments, trying to make small talk, so he could be closer to her and find more things about this prophet

26. "Which part, 'signore'?"

Nina asks.

"Everything! He seems like a nice and good young prophet."

Abate replies with exaltation.

27. "Yeah, sure..."

Nina supports his words, but with indifference in her tone.

28. "What do you mean with this hesitating phrase?"

Abate curiously asks.

29. "I mean... Do you know the story of David and the day he wanted to build a dignified house for the Ark of the Covenant, right?"

Nina asks, trying to explain with an analogy.

30. "Yes! God told him that since he was a blood marked war man, he shouldn't. But one of his sons would eventually honor him."

Abate instantly replies with total wisdom of the bible.

31. "And so, his son Solomon, one of the wisest and purest servants of the Lord, did fulfill what it was once promised."

Nina completes.

32. "Yes, I like that story."

Says Abate, trying to understand the meaning of that analogy.

33. "Well, let's say that Peter is like David. Deep inside, he is all pro blood baths to honor God."

34. Nina says, a bit disappointed. But she wasn't wrong. Peter's past was uncertain and nebulous.

35. Later that evening, Abate, hoping to find something that the Holy Father could use to help the church, enters Peter's office, in the top floor. He searches the desk and finds a locked compartment.

36. Using unexpected skills, Abate pulls out a hair clip out of his pocket, and opens the locked part. He finds some notes in a form of a diary, and runs out of the room before he gets caught.

37. Abate didn't feel good about breaking in and stealing from a person, but he knew that it had to be done. He couldn't imagine his life with a destroyed home and disturbed faith.
