5th of Light, 1849
Kjallo put his arm out, waiting for Gin to make the first move. There was no real technique to fight another Tath user, as Enforcers almost never turned on their fellows. And even more, it was two elemental Conjurers, so it left the two eying each other, waiting for one to start.
Gin didn’t look too older than Kjallo, maybe a year, or two. As if realizing that Kjallo wouldn’t start, Gin reached into his leather armor, pulling out two blades. They weren’t like anything Kjallo had seen before, curved blades that broaden up to the tip. Swords weren’t used much, but they would normally be a weapon for an Alterer.
Gin leapt towards Kjallo, swinging his blade at the Enforcer. Kjallo moved behind a tree, only to jump away as Gin cut straight through the wood, the tree falling after.
The Enforcer released a strike of red lightning. Gin outstretched his blade towards the strike. The electricity shot down the blade and onto his arm. The assassin cried out in pain, till jumping towards Kjallo. He crashed down on his back, readying his blades for a strike, before Kjallo shocked his legs.
The assassin jumped back, and Kjallo aimed his next strike. The lightning blasted off his fingertips aimed for Gin. This one stronger than the last.
Gin hurled his blade at Kjallo. The sword held the lightning and flew towards the Enforcer.
Kjallo leaned back as the blade flew toward his head. The edge cut the Enforcer’s forehead, then slicing off some of his hair. The electricity trickled from the blade onto Kjallo, sending him into a convulsion.
Gin took his opportunity, flying towards Kjallo and bringing his sword down. He had won.
A gunshot sounded, and the assassin’s ear sliced open, interrupting the strike. He clutched the side of his head, looking to the shooter.
Kant stood, pointing a rifle at the assassin. His face was contorted with rage, eyebrows twitching and eyes glaring.
Gin looked at the gun, shocked, before dashing towards the Commander. Kjallo lay on the ground, his conscious slowly returning. Cara rushed to Kjallo, helping him up.
“W-what happened?” Kjallo asked her.
“It’s Valg,” Cara said. “He hit his head hard.”
“Will he be okay?”
“I don’t know, we got the carriage to take him back to camp.”
Kant intercepted Gin’s blade and kicked him in the stomach, sending him into a tree. “I’m gonna fucking kill you!” he snarled.
Kant charged forward, bashing his fist into the surprised Gin’s face with Tath powered strength. The assassin put his hands out, trying to stop the barrage, but eventually stopped fighting back. Astrid ran towards the rage consumed Kant, pulling him back.
“You’re gonna kill him!” she shouted.
Kant backed away, looking at the bloodied face of Gin with naked hate. He swatted away Astrid’s hand, walking back to the farmhouse.
“I’ll cuff Gin,” Astrid told Kjallo as he pulled himself up. “You go follow Kant.”
Kjallo ran towards the commander, catching up with him. Kant eyed him, then looked away. “Hey, Kjallo.”
