The passer-by hastened before I could initiate any question.
Rumors were not the only thing spreading. It seemed that fear has already caught up.
It was still far too premature to determine the culprit.

"Traveller."
A voice broke my thoughts.
I shifted my gaze to the speaker.
"If you do not want to endanger yourself, stay clear from getting involved."
"Listen to the townsfolk and do not wander off after dusk. Not unless if you want to get yourself in a predicament. Do you hear me?"
He continued condescendingly. The young man seemed only a few years my junior.
"Good evening-..."
I was interrupted before I could finish my greeting.
"Excuse me."
Another man pushed me aside to clear a path and walked past me in a hurry.
That man appears to be well in his prime, yet his grey hair and weary countenance disassociated him from anything youthful. He must have gone through a lot to be this seasoned.
He dressed in a rather peculiar fashion; he wore a vest underneath his rolled-up coat, his trousers and knee-high boots completed his Gothic attire.
He carried a crossbow behind his back while wielding a hatchet-
Hang on.
The man's equipment seemed enchanted.
"Wait up! Master!"
"Stop following me."
"Please allow me to accompany you!"
The sidekick yawped as he was catching up.
"Remember traveler, head back after dusk!"
It would be a shame not to grab onto such a blatant lead. Obviously, I had to tail the two.
God, it must have been my luckiest encounter so far.
