“Hello my king.” I said as I bowed respectfully.
“Hello my heir.” The god was dressed differently than the last time I had seen him. Instead of his royal golden robe, he was wearing a fairly normal outfit. A common dark green colored shirt with light brown trousers.
“I told you the last time, you don’t have to bow every time you see me.” the dragon god said while I raised my head.
We were in a dark place that seemed to extend to infinity. The only source of light was the sky full of clouds of various colours and shapes that seemed full of stars, the floor was covered with what looked like a fine sheet of water that reflected everything like a mirror.
“Where are we?” I asked after a few minutes of admiring in awe the magnificent sky.
“This is the common space where gods and their heir can meet in peace, away from prying ears.” The god looked up at the sky, the stars were reflecting off his metallic bismuth eyes.
We spent the next few minutes talking about my actions in the kingdom. The subject slowly drifted towards the geography of my world. I quickly realised after a few minutes that I was going to need a few lessons in this subject.
“That’s enough chit chat for now, I have to tell you the reason you're here.” The blonde entity sat on a chair that he made appear out of nowhere.
“Ok I am listening.” I said while sitting on a chair that had appeared the same way has Irilath’s one.
“I brought you here to talk about your purpose.” The dragon turned his head towards the sky.
I raised my head the same way as him and when I looked back down a table and two cups of tea had appeared. I grabbed my cup and began drinking. When images started flooding my mind.
“As you might know, on the other side of the sea, there is another land full of magical beings.” My elder had materialised a map of the continent and more in my mind.
On the map, I could see, to the right, the human continent separated in four. The Soleil kingdom to the south,The Twilight kingdom to the east, the moonshine kingdom to the north and the sunrise kingdom to the east.
But on the other side of the map was a virgin and tree filled continent full of magical beings like elves, dwarfs, giants, ect.
“The humans Have efficiently dealt with the plague that were dragons for them by developing their engineering.” With those words, images of humans and dragons fighting started appearing in my mind. It was a real blood bath.
“But the kingdoms on the other side of the sea, it’s another story.” My elder changed the scenery yet again, this time showing the situation on the continent. There was fire everywhere, on trees, on houses and even on people.
“After the war calmed down, The dragons settled near villages and started demanding food from the villagers and if the conditions weren’t met, The dragon would come himself to kill and eat.” As I came back, I looked at the god to realise he was now red with anger.
His fist and jaw were clenched and his eyes that were staring intensely at nothing were reflecting more and more reddish colors.
“Are you ok.” I asked out of concern for his well being.
“Oh yes sorry I was… lost in my thoughts” He made a pause before continuing.
“This phenomenon is caused by one entity, My exiled brother, Ugolath” His eyes were now all red like tiny rubies.
“My brother is a trickster, he caused the dragons that worked to protect the weaker beings to attack those same weaker beings.” He made a pause to not be overwhelmed by anger and breathed in and out for a moment to keep his calm.
“I hate him from the bottom of my heart for what he did to my people. He promised them a power to help others better, only to take control of their minds.” He added, his eyes still reflecting the same reddish colors.
“Is there a way you can stop this?” I asked, feeling my own anger slowly boiling in my head.
“There is, and that is why you are here.” I looked at him a little confused before the pieces clicked in my mind.
“I am the one who is supposed to defeat him?” I asked, startled to be given such a big task.
“You were chosen for this so don’t worry about it.” The god looked at me in the eyes while making a kind smile.
“I believe in you.” He added, while grabbing my hand and kneeling.
I looked at the deity, he looked like he was about to cry out of desperation. feeling the pain of his people calling for him while they were stuck in their own body’s must have taken a big toll on his sanity during the first years.
“ I will not disappoint you, I will bring them back to their normal state and heal their wounds.” I said while helping him back to his feets.
“Thank you child.” The god said while giving me a hug.
“I will have to leave my family to go on this trip right?” I asked him, as we pulled each other apart
“You will but seeing you can fly, you will be able to just come back anytime you want.” my elder reassured me and before I knew it I was back in my bed in the castle.
***
“You are leaving?” the king asked, a little surprised after I had told him the reason I was here.
It took some time to explain to him in detail the reason for my departure, I left out my discussion with Irilath as to not make him suspicious and only told him a superior being had contacted me.
“Very well then I shall make the preparation for your departure.” The King looked a bit sad about losing a great defensive asset of his kingdom.
“I will go announce this to my parents, your highness.” I said while kneeling
“Yes of course I won't keep you here you can go.” The king said with a gentle smile on his face.
After leaving the castle and flying back to my house, I said goodbye to my parents and began to fly away to the new continent.
