Read A Little Bit Strange :: Decendant

Though the Night community in the town is small, they have one of the oldest Night Libraries. The books are tattered and date back to the beginning of our time. We were created by accident in the year Christ was allegedly born. People of the age now labelled 'teenagers' were attempting withcraft, illegally. Back then, the aura of magic was stronger. These days, it's close to nothing, but it could have a chance to come back, one day. The teens attempted to summon a demon, but it went wrong, and they became half-demons, later known as Night People. All Night People decend from these teens. How closely related you are to those people have nothing to do with how the royal status works - that was created 1000 years after, when our species decended into chaos. It's all better now.

The library is no longer guarded, but humans can't access it anyway, so I don't understand why it ever needed watching. Old prophecies are set up on book stands (which look like lecture stands), in the centre of the library, arranged in a circle. There's 9. The ninth contains infomation on humans and our world. It's many, many pages long, and written in our own language. I've never read it, and it doesn't have an index page, but from extracts I saw during the education my father inforced on me, it should be within the 400th and 500th pages.

It takes me ages to find page 400. Well, probably only 5 minutes, but that's long enough. I read everypage top to bottom. 456, 457...469, 470, 471...489. I stop at 489. A passages catches my eye. It reads:

Entry by Mattheo IV:

'I have encountered a pure human - he is unbroken and he can see us. I've been watching over him. I believe that it may be his heritage that makes him pure. I looked at his family tree. He is a decendant of the first Origin Child - Alexis Haste - however he is not one of us, but I'm not sure why. The pure human has brother, but he is not pure - he is one of us. I don't understand how the other is one of us and the other one is a pure human - maybe the pure human child is the eldest child? I don't even understand how being a decendant of Alexis Haste can mean you are pure - surely you should just be a stronger Night Person? It can't be product of a human parent - many of us have a human parent, and the pure's brother is one of us. I have made tests on the pure human - his DNA shows a trace of Alexis Haste, but so does that of his brother. I can't figure out what could have happened to make one of them pure. No Haste-related child before him has been like this, and there is no child like this in the predecessor lines of the other four Origin Children.'

The entry doesn't help much. I still don't understand how he can be pure, especially when he's a decendant of Alexis. I also should have realised he was a Haste. I've heard people use his surname. I flick another page over. There is a second piece from Mattheo IV:

'I have found out as much as I can of the pure human, and made many observations and found many conclusions. The most backed one is that his second, non-Night Person parent, is still not human, and that the pure's brother has a different mother to that of the pure. It could be possible that a second supernatural entity exists, and we do not know. I have looked at the books of the alleged Christ's religion. They believe in angels. If it is possible for demons and half-demons to exist, surely it is possible for angels and half-angels to exist. I have read into it. Yes, they may exist, but there are very few - they are dying out. In another 1000 years, there is likely to be only one, and even then, that one will be nearing it's end within the next 20-50 years. It won't be able to create another one of itself.'

Cillian's mother must have been the last of the half-angels, and I believe his parents are gone, as he lives with his cousin. It was reasonable to come to the Old Prophecies. It seems Cillian is a decandant of both a half-angel and Alexis Haste, making him a pure. He can see us. I had a feeling he could see us. It is true, but how do I tell him? Or not tell him? I don't want to hurt him. I heard what he said to Naya - he is scared of me. I don't want it to be that way. I want to be a friend to him.

Maybe I'll just have to keep it a secret for now.

I'll tell him when the time comes, and at the moment, that time is not now.
