Seventeen years ago.
Little Kashimba crosses wooden swords with Papa Tengu, but she gets knocked down by a strong palm to the chest.
"You fight with great ferocity, but you lack true discipline. Your mother taught you well, but I will help you expand your mind." Papa Tengu says to her.
Kashimba gets to her feet and she once again charges at Papa Tengu. She tries to attack Papa Tengu with a upward slash, but she is stopped by Papa Tengu slapping her in the face with a wooden sword. Knocked down again, Kashimba groans in agony as her fangs grow out and her eyes glow blood red.
She lunges at Papa Tengu, but he hits her with the one inch punch, sending her flying through the dojo wall and into the pouring rain. Papa Tengu approaches the unconscious Kashimba, who is covered in mud.
"You are strong young one, but your vampiric cruxes are beginning to show. I will help you control this young one, you have a long road ahead of you." Papa Tengu says. He takes Kashimba off of the ground and he carries her back inside the dojo.
"Rest here for now, your training will resume tomorrow." Papa Tengu lays her down on a bed mat and he covers her with a black blanket.
During the course of the night, little Kashimba tosses and turns in her sleep, trying to fight off the vampire within her. Moaning loudly, Papa Tengu arrives and places his index finger and thumb on the right side of her neck. Applying slight pressure to her chi point, he calms her down and she sleeps soundly.
"Dream pleasant dreams, fly over highest cloud, climb the tallest mountain. Let your dreams carry you to the realm of peace." Papa Tengu softly tells her
The next day, little Kashimba wakes up, feeling relaxed and calm. Papa Tengu walks into the dojo, with a tray full of Sushi and a cup of tea.
"You may want to eat something, you can still eat regular foods, because your human half helps you sustain hemoglobin." Kashimba wipes her eyes clear as Papa Tengu speaks. Kashimba begins to eat the Sushi while drinking her tea.
"I can tell you were mighty hungry. Eat up sweetheart, for you will need your strength." Papa Tengu says to her as she continues eating.
"Why... did you spare me?" Little Kashimba wonders as Papa Tengu sips a cup of tea.
"Believe me, every fiber of my being told me to kill you, but my mind told me that you are special, different from other vampires." Kashimba looks confused by Papa Tengu's words.
"How am I different? What am I?" She asks.
"You are a fusion of both human and vampire, fifty times stronger than both. All of their strengths, none of their weaknesses. However, the only thing that you struggle with is the vampire side." Papa Tengu tells her. As little Kashimba sips her tea, Papa Tengu shows her a small chest.
"We've found this at your mothers house, it was one of the two things that survived the fire." Papa Tengu opens the chest, showing Kashimba her mother's necklace.
"My mother's necklace... how did it..." as Kashimba sheads tears, Papa Tengu hands her the necklace.
"It belongs with you. The daughter of Kai." Papa Tengu says. Little Kashimba clutches the necklace to her chest, softly crying over witnessing her mother die.
"The vampire that killed your mother is still out there, I will teach you the tools to kill the damned. You are our last hope against the damned, if you choose to continue to train with me." Kashimba puts the necklace down, having her eyes change color from brown to red.
"Teach me!" She says. Papa Tengu nods his head to her, acknowledging her choice.
"Come, we shall proceed." Papa Tengu takes her to the training corridor, to begin teaching her how to kill vampires.
Present day...
Kashimba sits on top of a large boulder in deep meditation. As the moon rises over the mountains in the distance, Kashimba's body glows with red aura. She opens her eyes and she starts swinging her sword with grace and percision.
With every swing, Kashimba's movements become more faster than usual. Kashimba then does a downward slash that splits a tree in half, down the middle. Kashimba breathes heavily, as the sweat drips from her body.
"I'd figure I would find you training here." Papa Tengu says, drinking a canteen of tea.
"What is it Papa Tengu?" Kashimba asks, putting her sword away.
"Do you remember me training you? Here, in this very spot. You learned pretty quickly, your mother would have been proud of you." Papa Tengu complements her.
"Thanks... but my mother cannot rest until her killer is eviscerated. I won't take a breath until that happens." Kashimba says.
"First we must find out why she and her group of vampires both want you. I need you, Raidou and Kane to find the vampires that injured you. Squeeze whatever juice you can from them." Kashimba bows in agreement and she goes off to her room to prepare for the mission.
"Now, we find out the machinations of the vampires!" Papa Tengu says to himself as the moon shines behind him.
