Kiel felt the world freeze around him as he met the alpha’s deep green eyes, “h-how did you come to a conclusion such as that?”
“Well you appeared in the middle of a forest, no clothes, no collar, you’ve still got your fangs, and you’ve got no idea about modern omegan laws despite being an omega. Besides my mother worked as a part-time psychic when I was growing up.” She shrugged as she turned around to search through the kitchen pantry, pulling out some biscuits and offering one to him, “she taught me how to sense spiritual energies, and you reek of it.”
The violet eyed omega took one of the biscuits with a curt nod, mulling over the alpha’s words in his head as he delicately nibbled on the biscuit, it was sweet and kind of tasted like oats. “Well that would explain it I guess.”
“So do you confirm or deny?” The alpha asked, downing about three biscuits in one go, eyes never leaving him, the intensity of her green eyes demanding nothing but the truth from him.
Kiel ran his fingers through his hair with an irritated grunt, no one was supposed to find out about him being a spirit, but alas it seemed as if people had grown more sensitive to such matters, “it’s true. I was murdered when I previously came to this world as a spirit, so I didn’t come for awhile, but after seeing the tragedies the omegas have suffered through I decided that I must come.”
The alpha nodded and put the biscuits down, “I’m glad you told me the truth, anyway, you said your name is Kiel right?”
“Yes that’s correct!” He nodded with a small smile. “I’m assuming its become a much older name these days hasn’t it?”
“Indeed, mainly because its over a couple hundreds or thousands of years old. There are only a few records of omegas named Kiel, and the first record of it was about fifteen hundred years ago, I’m assuming it was probably about you when you first accompanied omegas here.” She spoke with a slight chuckle, Kiel was merely impressed she wasn’t freaking out about this.
“You know an awful lot about history,” he noted curiously.
She nodded with a proud smile widening her grin, “I was a history major in university, now I teach history at a neighbouring university.”
“University?” Kiel tilted his head, a slight red blush creeping onto his cheeks, embarrassed he didn’t know about things she talked about so casually.
“Uh yeah, we have different levels of education now days, education for kids and teenagers is primary, middle and high school. Then education for adults is university.” She explained in the simplest terms possible.
“Oh! That makes sense, such a smart idea! Sorry for not knowing much, I’m still waiting for the stars to kick start my brain and fill it with information of this time period.” Kiel chuckled amusedly.
“The stars?”
“Yeah, the stars are what give spirits like me my spiritual attributes, they also give me information and determine what guidelines I should follow when returning to earth, as well as deciding when I should return to earth!” Kiel explained excitedly, his jade purple eyes lighting up with a kind of pride about being a spirit as well as a love for the stars that give him knowledge, power and life.
“Well ain’t that interesting,” the alpha chuckled nuzzling the omega woman who had snuggled up close to her chest. “Either way, I’m glad you’re here. If there’s anything we can do to help we’d be happy to.”
“That would be great! First do you know if you can do anything about my hair?” Kiel asked embarrassed since he kept getting it tangles around his legs and arms. “Also I don’t know either of your names.”
The alpha snorted in amusement and smiled brightly, “I’m Lyssa.”
The omega woman looked at her alpha and at Lyssa’s approving nod she smiled up at Kiel, “I’m Taisha, it’s good to meet you Kiel, I hope we can help you.”
After introductions were complete Lyssa sat Kiel down at a bar stool and draped a towel over his shoulders, then after getting a step stool she let Taisha take up a pair of scissors and begin work on cutting away Kiel’s long silver hair that had become knotted beyond belief at the bottom. When she was done Lyssa began sweeping up the mounds of hair on the floor as Taisha excitedly grabbed Kiel’s hand and led him towards a mirror, “TADA!”
Kiel examined his knew looks with a sense of awe, she had cut his hair into a curtain styled haircut that framed his sharp, high cheekbones as well as his pale purple eyes, “woah! I look amazing Taisha!”
“Thank you,” the omega woman blushed at the enthusiastic compliment and looked toward Lyssa who gave her an encouraging thumbs up.
Kiel brushed his fingers through his much shorter hair and his smile widened into a broad grin, “it feels a lot better now.”
Taisha chuckled, cheeks rosy from Kiel’s excitement that spread through the room contagiously, “I’m glad.”
“Ah Taisha, look after our guest for a minute, I have to go pick up the kids!” Lyssa called out, looking at her watch and grabbing her phone and car keys off of the kitchen bench.
“Okay love, drive safe!” Taisha called out in return then turned back to Kiel with a smile, she looked at his bare neck and tilted her head, “you should put on a collar y’know.”
“Do I have to?” He asked with a curious tilt of his head and an upset curve to his brows.
Taisha shook her head, “not in this house but when you go out you certainly should have one on, especially nearing the time of your heat.”
Kiel’s entire body deflated and a darkness settled in his eyes, a bitter taste seeping from him into the room, “I don’t get heats… spirits… we don’t experience things like that.”
“Oh sorry, I didn’t realise.” She murmured, as an omega she knew heats were a sign of fertility, an omega having no heats was basically unheard of because it meant they were infertile and therefore alphas wouldn’t want them, so typically they’d eventually ended up in a brothel. “C-can ya still conceive?”
“Probably not, and if I did the stars would disown me, I would probably just become a regular omega. There are rules I must follow, so to stay focused on my goal. So I’m not allowed to have sexual or romantic relations of any kind, I’m not allowed my own child, and I’m not allowed to be claimed or marked, even if its against my will.” He shrugged with a sad smile.
“Oh, how is that fair on you? I mean you’re here to save us omegas right? And yet these stars seem to be using you just as much as alphas use us.” She huffed.
“They don’t mean anything bad by it, and I love the stars I truly do! They only want the best for me, I understand that. But it doesn’t mean that my omega stops yearning for an alpha or child.” He sighed, averting his eyes to the floor to disguise the tears that had begun shimmering in the corners.
“My children mean everything to me, so does my alpha. I can’t imagine being prohibited from them. Did you have an alpha or children in your previous life here?” She asked softly, hand on his shoulder as she scented him comfortingly.
“I had an alpha that I loved very much, but he was another spirit who was with me at the time. His name was Eleas.” Kiel smiled warmly at the thought of the dark haired alpha that had shown him nothing but unconditional love and support.
“What happened to him then?” She asked softly.
Kiel’s smile fell again, “I don’t know. I was murdered before I could tell him that I loved him. Maybe the stars took him back up, but I’m sure I would’ve seen him if he returned to the stars. So its likely he still roams in this world.”
“Well if he still is here in this world, I hope you find him.” She smiled then upon hearing the front door click open she jumped up, excitement shining in her eyes as it opened and two small children came barrelling towards her and tackling her in a hug.
“Momma! Momma! We missed you!” They chorused, nuzzling their faces into the crook of her neck and letting her scent them. One of them perked up their head and the other followed, their matching green eyes settling on Kiel.
“Kiel meet our rambunctious twins, Alistair with the dark hair and Evan with the lighter hair. Boys say hello to our guest, his name is Kiel.” Lyssa spoke with a happy chortle.
The twin boys were basically identical save for Alistair having a dark shade of brown hair and Evan having a lighter shade of blonde, they stood up side by side in front of Kiel and smiled, “nice to meet you Kiel! Are you an alpha or an omega?”
“Boys!” Taisha snapped, “it’s rude to ask someone their secondary gender, you know that.”
“Sorry Momma,” they sulked, little pouts forming on their faces as they looked at Kiel and sniffed the air not so discretely. “He just doesn’t smell like an omega but he doesn’t smell like an alpha either, and betas have no smell so he must be either an omega or an alpha!”
Kiel kneeled down so his face was closer to theirs and he offered a smile, “you’re both very smart to know these things at such a young age. But what do you think I am?”
“Hmm, Alpha!” Evan shouted excitedly.
“No he’s an omega!” Alistair protested.
“Well sorry little Evan but Alistair is right this time, I’m an omega.” He smiled, Lyssa and Taisha watched from their place to the side, they knew Kiel was an omega but his skill with children was impressive.
