How remote is this place?
The original owner’s impression of the world outside was very vague. As Li Xuejian went further along with the new memory and learned that he crossed over to the dynasty called Hong. He knew that this kind of dynasty never existed in the ancient era so it had to be some kind of parallel universe.
The most ridiculous thing Li Xuejian has come across while trying to assimilate those numerous pieces of memories was that the original owner had never been outside of this small mountain village.
The original owner’s life up to this point has been about staying home all day.
Li Xuejian had been tired of cursing him and quickly shifted his focus to the Wuyuan village. To his surprise, this place was not a sparsely populated area, it was just that the original owner’s house was detached from the rest of the households because it was located on the edge of the village.
In the Wuyuan village, people lived by cultivating paddy fields, growing millet, corn, potatoes, and other vegetables, and also raising livestock. Because the rivers cross it vertically and horizontally, there were no droughts or floods. As long as the villagers are willing to take good care of the land, the harvest in the field will not be bad.
But of course not every household can afford to buy and own a lot of lands so not all villagers' lives were this prosperous. The majority of the local people wanted to live in a stable manner where the whole family did not have to worry to be fed and clothed.
Thinking of this Li Xuejian started to worry about himself. He felt that his hard-won fate was very important.
By the way, what about his abilities?
Back in the apocalypse, Li Xuejian was an ability user, but it was contrary to what the novels speculated and it had nothing to do with air, earth, fire, or water powers. Humankind evolved but not to such a fantastic extent.
The zombies were growing stronger day by day and in response to it, humans have gained the Athletic Ability that allowed them to maximize the growth of endurance, strength, stamina, flexibility, coordination, agility, balance, accuracy, power, and speed by cultivating their spiritual energy. Without it, they wouldn’t have a chance to survive.
Li Xuejian wasn’t that much anxious because in this kind of world there wasn’t much difference between having back his ability and living like a normal person.
He went back straight to his room and slowly lay down on the bed, secretly searching if there was any spiritual energy left in his soul to cultivate his skill.
Li Xuejian found out that the spiritual energy was already circling around his body, especially in the place where he was bitten by a snake, and he didn’t even notice it. Li Xuejian assumed that the original owner was killed by this cobra venom and when he took over the body, he unconsciously started to absorb the energy to heal the wounds.
Now, Li Xuejian’s soul only sustain miserable leftovers of the spiritual energy and there was no point in keeping it.
What would happen if he released the energy at once?
Li Xuejian wanted to use it to reshape the bones and expel the rest of the impurities left in the original owner’s body.
It can't hurt to try, right?
TEN SECONDS LATER: It hurts like hell!
The slender limbs stretched and straightened out. The flowing energy repeatedly repaired the body that was now fully belonging to Li Xuejian. The bones became stronger, the muscles became tougher and the wounds from the snake bite disappeared instantly.
Li Xuejian carefully stood up from the wooden bed to stretch out his body and check if everything was alright.
The long brown hair swayed messily, and the handsome face did not seem to have changed but it was a little more eye-catching than before. The pitch-black eyes became deeper as if they could swallow up a person. It was still a young figure with a blooming and healthy charm of it. The tense muscles with curves slightly visible through the clothing make the movements look more compelling and magnetic.
It was a pity that there was no mirror in the house and he couldn’t check how he looked like to start with and how his appearance changed. But with this current body, Li Xuejian didn't have to worry about not being able to survive.
Looking through the window, Li Xuejian could see the village where the smoke was rising from a distance. When it gets dark, that becomes resting time for people working in the fields during the day.
The one more thing that comforted Li Xuejian was that the surrounding environment was very beautiful, and when he looked at it, he had a sense of being in the painting. In a modern society full of steel and concrete, the simplicity of natural landscapes has long been lost, not to mention the world in ruins after the apocalypse. Unexpectedly, by accident Li Xuejian came to this place that he had longed to find again.
As Li Xuejian was enjoying the view, he felt that it was getting cold in the house.
Li Xuejian walked to the stove and realized that there seemed to be only a little firewood prepared by the original owner but a lot of dried leaves were piled up instead.
He shouldn’t be surprised by it, right?
Li Xuejian paused, took a handful of leaves, stuffed it into the stove, and suddenly thought that there was no lighter in ancient times. His eyes surveyed the room for anything that might resemble flint and strike a fire.
A moment later, Li Xuejian took two rocks and smashed them on each other. Sparks splashed on the leaves and a small cluster of fire ignited in the stove. Li Xuejian quickly stuffed more leaves and some dry branches to let the flames grow bigger.
Li Xuejian watched over the stove for a while and go back to bed. As soon as he closed his eyes, he fell asleep soon after his fatigue fit.
There were a lot of things that Li Xuejian had to do tomorrow, from finding the food to repairing the leaky house and much, much more...
