No-one’s POV:
The evening into night was pretty stormy, so bad in fact that in many places the lights were flickering. People were rushing around in a bit of a panic to try to get things done before the power went out. Mostly just trying to get things put away or make sure things were secure. Most places were already closed for the day but needed to stock up or do their daily calculations.
One place that was almost always busy was the hospital. Very rare to have a dull moment around there. Mostly those there were there because of some medical emergency. The worst emergencies got to be seen first.Though the hospital wasn’t spared from the power fluctuations either. Though it did have emergency lighting and other electrical of its own if it was needed.
So people who were bleeding badly or had some major medical emergency were seen before someone who was just there for some urgent care. Birthing was also one of those things that were seen higher on the priority list. And was one of those sections that had the most power to keep the lights on.
Many claim birth to be a miracle of life. But it’s just more the happenstance of other things that take place. Those who are in the medical field rarely see it as a miracle, given they see it happen every day and sometimes many times in the day. But they do try to treat people nicely that are going through birth.
A birth just recently happened. It was pretty normal for sure. The baby was taken away to be checked out to make sure it was okay, a little boy. While the mother was checked over as well to make sure there were no other complications.
It was just after this time that every light in the place went out. Though it didn't stay out for very long as the emergency power kicked in as it should. The transition time for this is usually only seconds.
But in the confusion, another baby in the same room where the first was being checked out was suddenly there to be checked out. Thing of it is, both were born around the same time and their little carriages were right next to each other.
The doctor in the room just assumed that the nurse had brought another baby in and put it in the little carriage. The trouble was, he was confused which baby was which so ended up marking the new baby as having been born by the parents of the baby he was supposed to check out.
Sure, if this was done in the days of DNA testing and some other stuff, such confusion would not happen. But this is a time before the current medical proceedings. Mistakes like that happen all the time.
Both babies were brought to the nursery after being checked out. “Zosk… such an unusual name” he said to himself before putting them both into the nursery. The ‘true’ baby didn’t have a name. It was common for names to be chosen later so no one really suspected anything.
Wasn’t anything about either baby that would suggest that something was amiss. They were born, were fit and healthy. Everything about them was where it should be. Looked very normal.
So when it came time, about a couple of weeks later, for the family to head home. They collected their baby, thinking it was their baby, and left. To raise the child as their own.
It wouldn’t be till sometime later, that the extra baby which was the parents true baby, would leave the hospital as well. But with a foster family who took the baby in cause no one could find it’s birth parents.
Over time, the children grew up like all kids do. Least grew up a little. Ended up going to school and played like all children do.

Author’s note: Figured it was time to write a small prolog into the effect of the story. To try to bring a better idea for what’s to come later.
