[ This is a note from the epic creator who is presenting you with this epic novel...thing. ]
There are some things you might wanna know before you read this chapter.
1. Nico and Jade live across the street from each other ( don’t ask why; I don’t know ).
2. Jade & Nico moved to Ohio from San Francisco ( Jade moved when she was 12, Nico moved when he was 9. )
3. Jade’s dad died in a car crash when she was 4. They found his dead body on a hill after a landslide had happened. Jade’s mom was suffering from working 3 jobs, so that’s why they moved to Ohio.
4. Jade had a black pomeranian with a white spot on his eye. His name is Blacky ( Jade named him that because of his black fur. ) Blacky lived the Jade in San Francisco, and when Jade moved to Ohio he moved with her.
5. Jade is asexual, Nico is a straight ally.
6. Nico had known Makenzie since 6th grade; they went to the same middle school and high school.
7. Nico and Jade have known each other for 1 year.
That’s all
Jade and Nico walked home together. They stopped by a boba shop ( there were very few customers as always ). After drinking boba, they walked about a block to their houses. They waved at each other while Jade went left and Nico went right. Nico went into his house, and his dad wasn’t there as always, he always came home late due to his work periods. Nico checked his watch; it was only 5:28 pm, and the sun was already setting. Nico sighed and went to his room. He sat on his bed and opened his notebook with ideas. He glanced through them all, crossing out bad ideas and keeping some that might work. His phone buzzed, so he picked it up. Jade had texted him that he was allowed to come rn. Nico texted her that he will be right there, and started packing. When he was done, it was 5:52 pm. He texted his dad that he was going to spend the night at Jade’s, and walked out the door. He checked both sides before jaywalking across the street. Once he was across, he rang the doorbell, and waited. About 10 seconds later, Jade opened the door, said hi, and let him in. He placed his bag and shoes on the floor, and looked around; it looked the same since he last visited.
“Soooooo..what d’you wanna do?” asked Jade.
“Do you have any ghosts in your room?” asked Nico, turning his head to look at her.
Jade was surprised to hear this question; no one has ever asked her that before.
“I-i..uhh...yeah I actually do……….why?”
“No reason, I just wanna know.”
Jade led Nico to a long thin closet and slid the door open. There was nothing in it ( like literally nothing; just space. ) Nico nodded his head as he looked around. He believed that there was a ghost in the closet; it was just invisible.
“Have you ever seen the ghost? Like how do you know it’s there?” asked Nico, even though he believed her.
Jade pulled out her phone and went onto SnapChat. She pulled up a cucumber filter ( ←this part is based off a TRUE story ), and turned the camera so it faced the closet. There was a cucumber head somewhere in the closet. It appeared, disappeared, then reappeared. Nico was smiling, as he said “cool!” Jay laughed a little, then put away her phone.
“Do you have a crush?” asked Jade randomly, because she’s always wanted to know.
“ME?” asked Nico with confusion.
“BOI WHO ELSE WOULD I BE TALKING TO?!” answered Jade, pointing all over the room, for they were the only people inside.
“Uhh...well...uhh…I dont know...” mumbled Nico, his face turning red.
“What do you mean ‘you dont know’?!” asked Jade, with a ‘bruh’ face, “It’s literally YOUR crush.”
“OK FINE...I do...kinda” responded Nico, “I’m not telling you who though.”
“On Makenzie?”
“NOOO!!”
“I dare you to ask Makenzie if she has a crush on you.”
“Why ME?!”
“FINE I’ll do it”
“Wait what?”
“EHEHHEHEHEHEHEHHEHHHE”
Jade turned on her phone and called Makenize. Nico watched, because honestly, he wanted to know. Jade had speaker on so Nico could hear. Mackenzie answered.
“What is it?!” she asked, annoyed.
“Oh nothing, I just wanna ask you something.”
“What is it; I don’t have all day!”
“Do you like Nico?”
“.............why do you wanna know?”
“I just wanna know!”
“NO!”
Mackenzie hung up. Jade looked at her phone then rolled her eyes.
“Well, that was a waste of time.”
Nico nodded.
“Wait, when you asked if I have a ghost in my house, have YOU ever seen a ghost?” asked Jade, suddenly having the thought.
Nico looked around for a moment, then responded.
"NO, WITH A BOOSTER SEAT; NOW SHUT UP!"
"I DON'T KNOW! Somewhere in San Francisco."
"Did the dog from the dead man's family look like that?" asked Jade, pointing at Blacky ( Jade's dog ), who was sleeping on the floor.
"Did the wife of the dead man work 3 jobs?"
"HOW WOULD I KNOW? MAYBE?"
"WHY ARE YOU ASKING ME SO MANY QUESTIONS?! It's not like you KNOW the man or something!"
"I think I do; I think who you're talking about is my dad."
